3/28 Shooto - Back to Our Roots 8
2008-03-09 12:19:00
I have a lot of Shooto cards to catch up on... Truth is that there are SO many of them this month. This will one of the big ones. Shooto has a lot of passionate fans and they have a lot of great fighters, this event we will see more than a few of them in action. The main event will be for the Lightweight title. As has been discussed earlier, rumor is that Antonio Carvalho gave up this title shot to fight in the Cage Force tournament. The title fight has gone to Hideki Kadowaki. Kadowaki will not be an easy opponent for Tamura thought, in his last fight he choked out Rumina Sato and he is very strong on the ground. Other names to take note of Baret Yoshida (returning after almost 5 years), Hatsu Hioki, Koetsu Okazaki (let's see if he can finish Ueda, all his fights seem to go the distance), Masakatsu Ueda and "Lion" Takeshi. There are more fights to be announced, this will be a very good event!Main Event:Akitoshi Tamura 11-5-2 vs. 12-7-2 Hideki KadowakiMasakatsu Ueda 7-0-1 vs. 5-0-1 K...

5/3 Shooto - Road to 20th Anniversary
2008-03-08 11:57:00
Shooto has announced what promises to be a very good event. Probably their main event for the year. In 2007, the best card Shooto put up (IMO) was Back to Our Roots 6. Let's hope this event will be as good. Considering the Back to Our Roots 8 card, this looks like it will be a good Shooto year.Currently, only 2 fights are announced. It is also known that Shooto star Rumina Sato will fight in this event. The main event will be the welterweight title fight between Takashi Nakakura and Ganjo Tentsuku.Confirmed:Takashi Nakakura 9-2-1 vs. 9-2-2 Ganjo TentsukuRyuichi Miki 6-2-2 vs. 14-3-5 Yasuhiro UrushitaniParticipating:Rumina Sato 24-11-2

On March 29 DEEP will hold 2 events in Shinjuku Face. First out is ClubDEEP. This is mainly a grappling event, but there are a few MMA fights on the card. The main event is most likely Ryan Bow versus Naoki Matsushita, just this fight should justify the enterance fee. Has CroCop's opponent been deceided? Bloody Elbow are refering to NOKAUT, who refers to CroCop's blog. The guy they are saying will be the opponent when CroCop returns to Japan is Yoshihiro Nakao. Nakao's MMA highlight has to be his win over Don Frye. What he will be remembered for though, is the kiss.Heath Herring's New Year's Eve KissUploaded by UrbanXExpect a tough stare-down for this one.

3/15 DREAM - Adds Fight?
2008-03-06 13:10:00
Hayato "Mach " Sakurai has put on his blog that he it due to fight Hidetaka Monma in the DREAM light weight tournament. Monma got the the semi-final of the Cage Force welterweight tournament last year, where he lost to Dan Hardy. This would be a good fight, but can't really see Monma winning this. The post on Sakurai's blog seems to be taken down. Not sure if this will be a lightweight tournament fight, Monma is normally a welterweight. It looks as though this will be a 77kg fight.Rumored:Hayato "Mach" Sakurai 31-7-2 vs. 14-7-3 Hidetaka MonmaAndre "Dida" Amade 6-2-1 vs. 12-1-0 Eddie AlvarezAnnounced:Shinya Aoki 12-2-0 vs. 14-1-1 Gesias "J.Z." 3/5 Sengoku - LIVE UPDATE
2008-03-05 11:33:00
The day of the big event! Sengoku will start their assault on the Japanese MMAmarket. They have a good card, and I think there can be some upsets. I was hoping to get a chance to give you guys a live update.Work put a stop to that, but I will be able to follow the rest of the fights live. The card should be familiar by now.Currently fight:Takanori Gomi 27-3-0 vs. 16-7-0 Duane Ludwig Round 1: Next fights:Hidehiko Yoshida 7-5-1 vs. 20-5-0 Josh Barnett Fights completed:Kazuo Misaki Def. The big event this week in Japan, no doubt the Sengoku event. This is the start of a very exciting month for Japanese MMA.The main event will be between Hidehiko Yoshida and Josh Barnett . 3/15 DREAM - Eddie Alvarez fighting?
2008-02-29 12:51:00
Eddie Alvarez has confirmed to Five Ounce that he has been offered and accepted a fight with Andre "Dida " Amade in the DREAM event 15 March. He says this is 100%, but I still list it as rumored. Just because I have seen fights be a 100% from 1 fighter and not accepted by the other. Just in case you're wondering, EliteXC has given their blessing.Still, this would be a very exciting match-up.Rumored:Andre "Dida" Amade 6-2-1 vs. 12-1-0 Eddie AlvarezPreviously Announced:Shinya Aoki 12-2-0 vs. 14-1-1 Gesias "J.Z." 3/5 Sengoku
2008-02-28 13:38:00
Sengoku has announced the fight order (a few days ago) for their first event. If you?re in Japan, this will be shown LIVE on SkyPerfect (channel 162 (live 18:30-22:55), 176 (21:00-1.25), 177 (23:00-3.25)). Due to work commitments, I can?t promise live updates but I will try.The main event on this 7-fight card is, as expected, Yoshida vs. Barnett. I am sure WVR was disappointed to lose one fight, when Phil Baroni pulled out, but still a pretty good card. I guess we are a bit spoiled in Japan? Its normally closer to 10 fights on the cards, and with the ticket prices I had expected 1-2 fights more? Still the fights they have should be very good and there are no ?freak-show? fights. I am looking forward to this one!Hidehiko Yoshida 7-5-1 vs. 20-5-0 Josh Barnett Takanori Gomi 27-3-0 vs. 16-7-0 Duane LudwigKazuo Misaki 18-8-2 (1NC) vs. 13-1-1 Siyar BahadurzadaKazuyuki Fujita 14-6-0 vs. Peter "Rolling Thunder" GrahamMakoto Takimoto 4-3-0 vs. 15-10-0 Evangelista "Cyborg" SantosRyo Kawamura 7...

K-1 has really set up a really good card for their World GP event inYokohama on April 13.The main event will undoubtedly the SuperHeavyweight Title Match between Mark Hunt and Semmy Schilt. I guess that also answers some questions around Mark Hunt's future. Also on the card is Might Mo, so that would mean that its unlikely thathe will fight Crocop in DREAM on March 19.The fights announced:Semmy Schilt vs. Mark HuntEwerton Teixeira vs. Yusuke FujimotoBadri Hari vs. Ray SefoMighty Mo vs. Keijiro MaedaAlso participating:Hong Man ChoiGlaube FeitosaMusashiJunichi SawayashikiTakashi TachikawaYoung Hyun KimSource: http://www.k-1.co.jp/k-1gp/btop.htm

3/26 Pancrase - Shining Tour 2
2008-02-24 04:43:00
Pancrase started the year with a very good event on Jan. 30. And the second event on the Shining Tour looks very good as well. The main event is the middleweight title fight between Miki Shida and the undefeated Marlon Sandro. So far this year, Pancrase has been putting up some very good card. Take note of Gadzhiev Alavutdin and Hacran Dias on this card, in addition to Pancrase stars like Izuru Takeuchim, Hikaru Sato and Kenji Arai. 2/22 DEEP Impact 34 - Pictures
2008-02-23 00:41:00
Some pictures from the DEEP event last night. Will be more later, once Cliff gets his stuff sorted. Anyway, some of the highlights. The highlight of the evening was going to be the tournament for the middleweight championship belt. Round 1 was held yesterday, unfortunately they drew the fights on the night. The result, the final was effectively yesterday.Riki Fukuda drew Ryuta Sakurai. These 2 fighters were way better than the rest in the tournament. To add to the list of resons this draw was a bad idea, the fight was drawn to be the first of the tournament fights (there were 3 more fights after this). Sakurai vs. Fukuda was the main event in DEEP 34.And the DEEP champion will be.... Riki Fukuda, he won a tough fight by decision. In the female final, Satoko Shinashi met SACHI. This went was predicted. And Satoko Shinashi won the DEEP Female Flyweight belt.

I just came back from the DEEP event tonight. As always, I enjoyed the night. The main event was chosen by draw... And I think Saeki (DEEP Promotor) wished it went differently... In the first round we saw Ryuta Sakuraigi vs. Riki Fukuda. This is what I expected the final to be.In the other tournament of the night, Satoko Shinashi took home the Flyweight title. It should be mentioned that she got through the first fight with some good advice from Shinya Aoki (when she gave up her back), but as the night progressed she was the best fighter, by far.My (and most of my friends') favorite fight of the night (except Sakurai vs. Fukuda) was the heavyweight battle between Inoue and Nakanish, lets just call it slugfest 2008.Ryoji Suzuki Def.
