5/18 Sengoku - Roger Gracie's opponent announced
2008-05-05 10:39:00
Sengoku has announced Roger Gracie's opponent for May 18, and its not a can! Yuki Kondo is a very merited Pancrase fighter (middleweight King of Pancrase), and recently lost the title fight for the Lightweight King of Pancrase. I would question if they are in the same weight class, but Kondo is a very good fighter.Added:Yuki Kondo 48-21-6 vs. 1-0-0 Roger GraciePreviously announced:Josh Barnett 21-5-0 vs. 24-7-0 Jeff Monson Kevin Randleman 16-12-0 vs. 8-2-2 Ryo KawamuraEiji Mitsuoka 12-5-2 vs. 5-0-0 Kwang Hee LeeSatoru Kitaoka 19-8-9 vs. 7-4-1 Ian SchaffaYuki Sasaki 21-13-1 vs. 16-7-0 Jorge SantiagoYoshihiro ?Kiss? DREAM Lightweight Tournament - Rumor Confirmed
2008-05-05 09:04:00
It is official, Aoki is still in the tournament! His fight with Nagata will take place on June 15 in DREAM 4. I have to say that this is a good decision by FEG and I hope he is able to get through that fight uninjured. It is also the first fight announced for the June event.http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight /other/headlines/etc/20080505-00000015-sp navi-fight.html

DREAM Lightweight Tournament - Aoki still in??
2008-05-04 03:56:00
Rumor now is that the Aoki Nagata fight will be puched back to DREAM 4. A very good decision in my mind, it gives Aoki time to recover and he has deserved the spot. Nothing is official on this and we will have to wait and see, but to me that seems like a much better option that getting another fighter into the second round without fighting...

5/11 DREAM 3 - Aoki Out!
2008-05-03 04:33:00
Well, not unexpected, but now its official!Aoki is out of the DREAM tourament. Why am I saying its not unexpected?? Well, he said in an interview before the fight that he would not fight in round 2 of this tournament, even if he won. This is very dissapointing but, like I have said in touraments like this injuries will happen. This really sucks, for a couple of reasons... JZ has said he would not take Aoki's place, which means 2 of the best fighters are out. And Nagata, who is the weakest link, might not have to fight in order to get to the next round...Let's see if DREAM can find an opponent for Nagata in the last week. And let's pray its not a can.

5/11 DREAM 3 - Fights Added
2008-05-02 13:19:00
DREAM has had their fair share of problems with the tournaments. Its been well documented and I don't want to spend too much time on it. NoB has summarized the problems here. There are a couple of reasons I don't want to dwell on these things too much, but basically if you have a tournament it happens. Just think of the problems Cage Force had with their tournament. I think the 2 first events has suffered because FEG rushed into them. For DREAM 3 things are looking WAY better. They are setting up reserve fights for the tournaments and also a welterweight championship eliminator fight! This is stuff I really like and I think DREAM 3 is showing signs that DREAM are serious. Add to that the possibility of a live broadcast on HDNet (I hope they can make that happen) and things are looking up!Rumor is that the winner of Diaz vs. Inoue will take on Hayato Sakurai for the welterweight championship belt.Anyway, today there were 5 fights announced:Nick Diaz 15-7-0 vs. 16-5-3 Katsuya InoueJ...

2008-05-02 13:11:00
DEEP has added another couple of fights to their DEEP 35 card. It is looking like a very good card, and I expect more good cards from DEEP throughout 2008. I have feeling their close relationship with DREAM will result in some interesting fighters stoping by.Anyway, the DEEP 35 card (BTW, I think "The Nob-Rock" has to be one of the funnies nicknames I have come across):DEEP Featherweight title fight:Masakazu Imanari 14-5-1 vs. 17-6-2 Dokonjonosuke MishimaDEEP Lightweight title fight:Kazunori Yokota 6-0-3 vs. 2-1-0 Pang Sung HwanMiddleweight Tournament Participants:Yuya Shirai 12-5-0Daijiro Matsui 10-18-4Yuichi Nakanishi 7-7-3Riki Fukuda 9-3-0Middleweight Tournament Reserve Fight:Ryuta Sakurai 15-14-4 vs. 9-4-0 Young ?RYO? I really think Pancrase have put on some good events this year and this was no exception.IMG_1029Originally uploaded by japanmma The opening fight was a very exciting grappling fight. Pancase put on another good card tonight, there were some interesting fights with some good new fighters. The Neo-Blood tournament offered some great match-ups and I have to say that one fighter that impressed with his determination was Steven Magdaleno, it will be interesting to see how he goes in the rest of this tournament. In the main event Yamamiya Kei won a victory that I thought was a wrong decision and it was not a fun fight to watch. Yamamiya spent the fight backing away from Yuki Kondo and I thought Kondo should have gotten the decsion.Big mistake of the night goes to Daisuke Watanabe who had the fight wrapped up when he deicided not to listen to his corner and stand up. Ohori was much better on the ground and managed to submit him in the last minute of the fight. Always listen to your corner!Keiichiro Yamamiya Def. 4/29 DREAM 2 - Fight Order Announced
2008-04-25 16:44:00
Well, its official. Frank Trigg is out of the DREAM tournament, his replacement is Ian Murphy. I have to admitt that Ian Murphy is a new name to me, according to NoB he is an amature wrestler. It will be interesting to she how he does in this event. Other than that, I am disapointed... This card looks very average... There are a few interesting fights in there (and a couple of awesome fights), but the card is thin. For the price they are charging, I would expect more. Either way, the tournament will be exciting. You can see that there is 1 fight missing in the middleweight tournament, that will be fought in DREAM 3.Another surprice, Aoki vs. JZ has gone from being the main event in DREAM 1 to being the opening fight in DREAM 2.... I bet that has never happened before! This is the fight order:8. MW Tournament: Kazushi Sakuraba 23-10-1 vs. Andrews Nakahara7. MW Tournament: Denis Kang 29-9-1 vs. 20-2-1 Gegard Mousasi6. 4/25 SmackGirl - ReMix Tournament - RESULTS
2008-04-25 16:22:00
Just got home from what was an awesome event!! It is the first time I have been to a Smack Girl event. There are several reasons why I havnt made it earlier, but finally today I got to it. I was really impressed!! The event was in Korakuen Hall, but they had changed the set-up from what I was used to and I almost didnt reconize it.The fights where good, and of course the BIG star was Megumi Fuji. Again today she was cornered by Josh Barnett, who was willingly posing for pictures and signing autographes after the event. Mega Megu is celebrating her 34th birthday tomorrow and after her win today I am sure there will be a party.I was also very impressed by Ginele Marquez, she was very good in her fight and won a very deserved vicory even after receiving a yellow card for punching in the face on the ground. I will post some pictures from this event on Sunday. The Tournament finals will be the following:Lightweight: Megumi Fuji vs. Anna Michelli TavaresOpenweight: Ginele Marquez vs. Hitomi...

Hong Man Choi might require surgery
2008-04-23 15:49:00
It looks as if the tumor that stopped Hong Man Choi fight in K-1 USA is a bit more serious than he has let on. Or could it be a ploy to get out of the military serivce (not sure how it works in Korea). Either way, Kamipro is reporting that the tumor might require surgery. The tumor is pressing on an optical nerve and will result in reduced vision.http://www.kamipro.com/news/?id=12 08934750

Sengoku announced Kevin Randleman 's opponent today. He will fight Ryo Kawamura. 4/29 DREAM 2 - Akiyama not participating
2008-04-21 13:32:00
Today it is confirmed, Akiyama will not be participating in DREAM 2 and the middleweight GP. Reason is not only a knee injury that was earlier reported, but also fracture in the nose. It seems the knee was ok, but the nose injury is the reason the doctor but a stopper for him entering the tournament.Either way, no Akiyama this time. But I guess we can hope he gets a spot in a reserve fight or something like that.http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/ other/headlines/etc/20080421-00000029-spn avi-fight.htmlhttp://sportsnavi.yahoo.co. jp/fight/other/headlines/etc/20080421-000 00033-spnavi-fight.html
