Senator DeMint and the UIGEA

As most folk from South Carolina know, Senator DeMint has supported the UIGEA. I have received letters from the Republican Senator in the past stating so. just a short time ago the Poker Players Alliance sent an alert mail out to all members asking everyone to send a letter to their Governors and Lawmakers. Sending these letters only take about 60 seconds when using the tools that are available at http://theppa.org/ . Become a member if you are not, there is no cost and it's a good way to make sure that your voice is heard. Anyhow, I sent the letter off and received a reply back from Senator DeMint (or his office) and thought there might be some out the in blogland that would want to read what it says.   I recieved a letter from the Poker Players Association today with a recap of the happenings for National Poker Week that had occured this past July. I felt I should post it here just for those readers that may be from other countries or those that are not members of the PPA, or even those that are and might not have recieved their letter by way of e-mail. There was a lot that happened during this organized event, and hopefully Congress will be taking a further look at some of the bills that have been proposed and perhaps even repeal the UIGEA soon after they return from their recess. Recap of National Poker Week: more than 375,000 signed the poker petition for President Obama more than 225,000 letters were sent to Capitol Hill more than 1,000 calls to Congressional offices more than 100 meetings with members of the U.S. House and Senate For those that are not members of the PPA and reside in the U.S., I still encourage you to join the fight for our poker rights now. .

Today I'm here to talk about a new way to play poker . I've often wondered if anyone else could have done any better with the cards I'd been dealt during a game and it looks like I may have found a room that would answer that very question. And they even accept credit cards from the U.S.A. ! At Duplicate Poker the poker is played on a scoring system. Players on a different table get the same hole cards as you do. A deck of cards is shuffled identically and used at each table which gives each player the same cards as the players sitting in the same position on the adjoining table. The other "Brunson" poker hand

I know most everyone that plays poker knows that 10-2 is known as the "Dolly" , “Doyle Brunson” or "The Brunson." There is another hand that is also known as the Doyle Brunson mainly because he never plays this hand. And that hand is A-Q . Doyle Brunson makes it clear that the hand is nothing but trouble in his books . Personally I have never had too much problems with playing the hand myself...I just ALWAYS raise 4 to 6x the BB to try and get rid of the trash hands before the flop. Senator Graham responds to online poker exemption .

I received a reply back from Senator Lindsey Graham on the letter I had sent off to my Congressmen about exempting online poker from the UIGEA bill . It's nothing that I would say is good news , but his reply is not bad neither compared to some I have received from his office in the past . Some bad news for U.S. players. It looks like another payment processor that has worked for U.S. citizens to use with the online poker rooms has bailed out of the business . United States owned ePassporte had got some bad reviews in the past about their support, but I personally had found them to be very dependable. I'd been using them ever since Neteller closed the American accounts with no problems at all . Their fees were a little steep , but when your choices are as limited as us Americans are , it was well worth it.The first news that they were getting out of the online poker area came by way of an e-mail sent out by Cake Poker April 12th . Hello folks . I thought today I would talk a little bit about the Poker Charity Event that we at the House Forum host each month at Carbon Poker . Back in the very early days of the poker room they had a charity event , that received little attention and the site soon stopped with the games . Personally I liked the games , but felt that the buy-in was a little steep for the majority of players . The game fell during mid-week , and was at a time that was very late for our European friends , so that didn't help draw a player base for this game at all . I write my Congressmen on a regular basis to let them know my displeasure about the current laws here in the U.S., and thought I'd fire off a round before the Congressional Hearing on the UIGEA yesterday. As most you know , the host site for the forum has been awful bad for server problems . My patience has been worn out with it , and I would imagine that some others has as well . Most times the forum was so slow that you could play a few hands of poker between trying to read a post .We decided to make a move to one powered by phpBB ..I had stayed away from them before due to running adds in the header area, but they seem to be the best thing going ( it's what most poker forums are using), so we have moved again .  Andy, Brad, and myself worked most of the day yesterday at setting everything up .
