Online Poker Tips
2011-11-04 12:04:00 Online Poker Tips Online poker has firmly established itself as one of the most popular types of casino card game on the internet. Attracting novice and professional players alike, online poker is a fast, fun and convenient alternative to live games. Although many live game players frequent the leading poker sites, the online version of the game is somewhat different. Provided below are several tips for improving players` chances of succeeding at online poker. Do Not `Tilt` or `Steam` Experienced online poker players understand that not every hand can go their way. Sometimes even the strongest of hands can be destroyed on the river, as so-called `newbies` fish for flushes, straights and quads. Short of cosying up to a Leprechaun, nobody can avoid every bad beat, but players can control how they respond to chronic misfortune. When suffering a bad run of luck or form, many players tend to tilt - a term used to describe a situation in which a player bets sub-optimally after becomin... More About: Online
Online Poker Petition
2011-09-28 15:37:00 The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has sent out a request to all its members to sign an online poker petition at the "We the People Petition " website. I would ask that anyone who believes in Americans freedom to fund and play online poker sign the petition. It only takes a minute of your time. Please, don't be one to sit idly by and do nothing....stand up and let your voice be heard. Directions on how to sign the "We the People Petition" We the People is a new addition to the White House website that allows Americans to petition the Obama Administration on a range of issues. Per the site, “if a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it is sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.” The site is getting a lot of traffic, so you may get either a "site is under maintenance" or a "404 not found" message. Just try it a few times and you'll get through. Even with this slight delay, it should take only a ... More About: Online

On May 24th, 2011, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) will be holding an emergency "fly-in" to Washington, D.C., to make the case for regulated online poker in the U.S. Approximately 30 of PPA's State Directors will meet with targeted lawmakers and ask them pass legislation to license and regulate online poker. We hope you can join this effort. We are asking our entire membership to meet with their congressional delegation on this day either in Washington, D.C., or in the state district offices for their federal lawmakers. The PPA will be providing the tools and information you need to arrange and execute those meetings either in Washington D.C. or back home in your congressional delegations district offices. Sen. Reid Supports Online Poker
2010-12-05 21:56:00 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who has opposed online gambling in the past, is now in support of online poker. Word has been spreading fast in online poker circles that he has begun circulating a bill repealing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and legalize online poker. My understanding of the draft is that if passed the bill would only allow exiting casinos to operate online poker web sites for the first two years after the bill passes. This would help prevent the market from being flooded by "new sites". With the bill will come regulation and taxation that would be shared by both the Federal and State Governments. Previous calculations have estimated that taxation would bring in possibly 42 billion dollars in 10 years and create 30,000 jobs. Not surprisingly, many Republicans are already opposing the bill. There has been rumours that Reid may attach it to a must pass bill or even the Bush tax cut extension. While some may think this is underhan... More About: Poker , Online
Gambling Bill in Trouble
2010-09-22 17:04:00 The House Financial Services Committee approved a gambling bill proposed by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Ma) that would license and regulate online gambling in the United States on July 28th, 2010. The bill, H.R. 2267 would regulate and tax online gambling and free up options for Americans to fund thier play. Many players from the United States hoped that it would go before a full house and be voted on before the mid-term elections, but it's beginning to look like it may not. “I’m not optimistic,” House Financial Services Committee Chairman Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) told The Hill. Rep. Frank says that it is unlikely that the measure will hit the House floor before the midterm elections. While this may be the case, some say that the bill might move in the lame-duck session as an attachment to a jobs or tax bill. Sources from MSNBC have said that regulating with taxation online gambling could bring in much needed revenue for the federal and state governments while also cr... More About: Gambling

Boss Network Leaving Canada
2010-08-12 14:46:00 Word is out that the Boss Network poker sites are leaving Canada and it's thousands of players. Well known poker room PokerKings will no longer allow Canadian players starting on September 24. According to the Poker Affiliate Bible, Boss’s new name is GTech BTW and ALL Boss/IPN websites on that network will blocking Canadians. This may leave many wondering where they can go to from there. While many Canadian players may already have the poker rooms, here at the "House" we suggest Carbon Poker or DoylesRoom. While on seperate networks (Merge Gaming Network for Carbon and Cake Network for Doyles) and nothing alike, they both have bent over backwards through the years to remain friendly to players from all over the world....even those of us frome the U.S. Not only are both rooms very reliable and safe places to play, but when downloading from here at the House of Poker Blues you get a percentage of your rakeback paid back into your players account. That is like being...

America Speaks Out
2010-06-22 15:26:00 Most online poker players know that it was the Republican Party that signed the UIGEA into law in October of 06, thereby making it harder to fund our games of choice. It also lead to our troubles of withdrawing winnings, and in some cases a lot of the poker rooms even banning the America n Poker Player. The UIGEA stripped the American Player of our freedoms to make our own choices. Some may even recall that it was the Republican Party that included a prohibition on Internet gaming in its 2008 policy platform! We must remind the GOP leadership that millions of Americans want them to support our poker rights and not continue with these misguided prohibitions. Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives have asked the American people to submit ideas through a new website on ways to keep our freedoms here in this great country of ours.Greg "Fossilman" Raymer has posted a comment on AmericaSpeakingOut.com calling on Congress to ensure poker players freedoms by licensi...
Senator DeMint and the UIGEA
2009-09-18 20:14:00 As most folk from South Carolina know, Senator DeMint has supported the UIGEA. I have received letters from the Republican Senator in the past stating so. just a short time ago the Poker Players Alliance sent an alert mail out to all members asking everyone to send a letter to their Governors and Lawmakers. Sending these letters only take about 60 seconds when using the tools that are available at http://theppa.org/ . Become a member if you are not, there is no cost and it's a good way to make sure that your voice is heard. Anyhow, I sent the letter off and received a reply back from Senator DeMint (or his office) and thought there might be some out the in blogland that would want to read what it says. You can read it by clicking a Reply from Senator DeMint on the UIGEA.

These are questions that often come up (usually after a losing session) and luckily for you, there are quite a few good answers. Here are a few of them. Playing poker stimulates your mind In the world today, there are fewer and fewer things that stimulate our minds. Everything is being made easier and less intellectually intensive. Recap of National Poker Week
2009-08-14 18:02:00 I recieved a letter from the Poker Players Association today with a recap of the happenings for National Poker Week that had occured this past July. Duplicate Poker - World's Fastest Growing Poker Room
2008-06-04 13:33:00 Today I'm here to talk about a new way to play poker . I've often wondered if anyone else could have done any better with the cards I'd been dealt during a game and it looks like I may have found a room that would answer that very question. And they even accept credit cards from the U.S.A. ! At Duplicate Poker the poker is played on a scoring system. Players on a different table get the same hole cards as you do. A deck of cards is shuffled identically and used at each table which gives each player the same cards as the players sitting in the same position on the adjoining table. Duplicate hole cards, duplicate flop, turn and river. A score is generated for each player based on the number of chips they have at the end of each hand, so for every hand every player on all competing tables receive the same number of chips. This is regardless of how many chips a player finished with in the previous hand.Once a hand is over the final score is calculated by comparing your initial score... More About: Growing , Room

Certain events will award leaderboard points with the players who finish at the top of the leaderboard winning their entry in the Grand Final. However, this... More About: Carbon

The other "Brunson" poker hand
2008-05-20 12:53:00 I know most everyone that plays poker knows that 10-2 is known as the "Dolly" , “Doyle Brunson” or "The Brunson." There is another hand that is also known as the Doyle Brunson mainly because he never plays this hand. And that hand is A-Q . Doyle Brunson makes it clear that the hand is nothing but trouble in his books . Personally I have never had too much problems with playing the hand myself...I just ALWAYS raise 4 to 6x the BB to try and get rid of the trash hands before the flop. If anyone calls me then I know I'm up against a strong hand .Well...at last Saturday's private freeroll that we held at Carbon Poker I found out the hard way the dangers of playing A-Q . I must have gotten dealt that hand pre-flop five times, and I lost with each and every one of them ! Each time I was called and the flop would be no help at all. I might would take a stab at the pot only to get raised...... Now a lot of that might have been due to me putting a bounty o... More About: Hand

I have been involved in the gambling industry since 1998 when I created and launched the first publication dedicated to Online Gambling. The name of the magazine is Gambling Online Magazine, which I ran until June of 2005. Up until 2003 the majority of my advertisers were online casinos and sportsbooks. Online poker rooms maybe made up 2% of my advertising base. However in 2003 I noticed that many of the casino and Sportsbook operators were starting to promote their poker rooms over the other prope... More About: Chatting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
