POINTSHAVERS.COM 06/07/08 - The San Francisco Giants have been quietly improving their play over the last several weeks. It all started when Barry Zito got his first win after stumbling out to an 0-8 start. Then, Giants hitting started to come around and road wins became easier to come by.But the key to the Giants success so far this season has been the outstanding pitching of Scott Linecum (8-1 W-L, 2.15 ERA). The Giants have rallied around their young star all year long; and, just yesterday Linecum and the Giants destoyed the Nationals 10-1.Today, LHP Jonathan Sanchez (4.08 ERA, 4-3 W-L) gets a crack at the cold Nationals and RHP Shawn Hill (0-2 W-L 4.67 ERA). It's surprising that the Giants are coming into this game as underdogs. They were swept by the Tigers in Yankee Stadium for the first time since 1966; and the Yankees were outscored 20-10 in three games played without Alex Rodriguez. Last night, the Yankees traveled to Detroit to open another 3 game series with the Tigers. The result this time, was much closer. The Yankees lost 6-5 after falling short in a 3-run ninth inning rally.Yankee pitching was mediocre yet again as Triple A call-up Kei Igawa lasted only three and a half innings. Miraculously, PointShave rs.com survives its first month of existence. We were looking pretty bad financially until we won the pick seven college football ticket in Tijuana, Mexico. This past Saturday we picked winners for 11/13 teams only losing on LSU and Alabama. LSU did not cover 32.5 even though they were leading 35-0 with 10 minutes left in the second quarter. Alabama was covering +13.5 all game until John Parker Wilson threw 2 interceptions in the second half, the latter returned for a Florida touchdown. On NFL games we won 6/8 going 2/2 on over/unders.
