Shopping For The Hard To Buy For Person
2007-10-27 21:34:00 It's always hard shopping around Christmas time for those individuals who are hard to buy for. You know the people I mean, the Dad who has every known gadget known to man, the sister who's picky or the wife who's specific yet demanding. Well you know you can never go wrong with jewelry so this year my wife is getting a gold bracelet. I've narrowed it down to a few different styles but who knew they could make so many styles of gold bracelets. Now I'll just need some help when I have to purchase my wife a diamond ring for our 10th anniversary.Tags: gold bracelets More About: Shopping , Hard , Person
Stack and Tilt Philosophy
2007-10-27 20:35:00 So what is this stake and tilt thing anyways. After Mike Weir won a few weeks back everyone including myself were talking about Mike's new swing. Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett teach this stack and tilt swing, it must be good if Weir won right. I know Aaron Baddeley uses it and he's won. So what's it all about anyways check out this article:The central idea of Plummer and Bennett's teaching is, well, that the golfer shouldn't move his or her centre, thereby staying "stacked" over the ball and even tilted toward the target.Tags: Mike Weir, stake and tilt, golf swing More About: Philosophy , Tilt
The Ginn sur Mer Classic Plagued By Rain
2007-10-27 19:41:00 The rain finally let up a bit to get the second round of The G inn sur Mer Classic at Tesoro finished and I'm sure there's a few player quite happy to get the third round underway including leaders Bob Estes and Tommy Armour III although they don't tee it up til 3pm. The cut fell at -2 or at 144 and some notables that didn't make the cut included Heath Slocum and Carl Pettersson but also guys like Mathias Gronberg who can hopefully hang on to his 121st position on the money list. Craig Kanada will be one looking for a good weekend at 127th on the money list he is 6 shots of the lead of co-leaders Bob Estes and Tommy Armour III. Should be an interesting weekend hopefully not too soggy.Tags: PGA Tour More About: Rain
Fantasy Picks For The Ginn sur Mer Classic
2007-10-25 14:50:00 This week sees the PGA Tour head back to Florida for the last two weeks of the season. Look for golfers who play well in Florida to excel on that nice Bermuda grass. I can't see anyone outside of the top 125 wining this week although a few guys will be obviously gunning for the top 125. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer in 2003. It's a Par 72 course and plays at 7226 yards. The course sports Tif Sport Bermuda Grass. The course has hazards everywhere. Staying away from water is the key as the course is built on wetlands and water comes into play on every hole. There's also 58 bunkers that line the course too. Sounds like alot of fun. Here's my picks:Jesper Parnevik- Jesper after taking last week off is playing great towards the end of the season. After securing his card a few weeks ago he's ready to freewheel in Florida.Justin Leonard- A player that is also playing well and can contend whenever he's on a streak.Mark Calcavecchia- A risky pick as he played horrible las... Help Is Here To Find The Right Printer Cartridge
2007-10-25 14:19:00 The other day my Dad was telling me how he was having a hard time finding a printer cartridge for his Canon Bubblejet printer. I guess it's a few years old and some stores weren't selling the replacement cartridges anymore. Well I told him about the Cartridge Find er website I use to find cartridges for my printers. At Cartridgefinder.com you just search by printer brand and model number and it will find you the cartridge your looking for, not only that but they've partnered with Price grabber so you can find the cheapest price available for your cartridge. My Dad was quite thankful for the help. More About: Printer

2007-10-24 12:38:00 Apparently the Barbie brand is reaching out to introduce young girls to golf. In November just in time for Christmas, Mattel will introduce a Barbie golf club set for girls 4-6. The 3-club set, includes a carrying bag, ball and visor. I guess they're trying to get girls into golf could be a start.Tags: golf equipment More About: The Go , The G
Watch Upgrade Needed?
2007-10-24 12:09:00 I'm thinking about upgrading my watch or at least getting another one. The one I have now my wife got it for me at Costco it's a style I've always wanted, a black thick band strap with a conventional black faced watch piece. It is a pretty casual style. I'm looking for something a little different maybe a Panerai watch. There oversized watch cases seem to be all the rage lately. I've seen a few on Ebay and some other styles I might be interest in. The watch search continues. More About: Watch
California Fires No End In Sight
2007-10-24 08:25:00 Are thoughts and are prayers go out to all those effected by the wildfires that are destroying huge areas of land and homes throughout the Southern Calif ornia area. It's forcing so far half a million people out of there homes, which here in this area of Canada is hard to imagine. Blogger Leaderboard has a post about some blogs reporting on the fires, particularly in relation to golf and golf courses. On Monday even Phil Mickelson family had to be evacuated from there San Diego ranch. Hopefully those less fortunate have insurance or the kindness of others to gain back there homes and lives once the fires end. More About: Fires , Sight
Luggage Blues
2007-10-24 05:25:00 How old were you when you got your first set of luggage? I was always one to just have a backpack or duffel bag that I would put my clothes and stuff into . I guess this goes back to my days of tree planting and my vagabond lifestyle when I was younger. When I traveled to Ireland, England and Norway I didn’t even have luggage either just my good ole backpack. It probable wasn’t until I was well into my 30s and settled down that regular luggage entered my life. God I miss my old backpack, do any of you? More About: Blues , Luggage
Jesper Parnevik Back At It In Florida
2007-10-24 05:02:00 A good article about Jesper Parnevik's up and down season and how he's turned it around to be well inside the top 125 and a contender for this week's PGA Tour stop at The Ginn sur Mer Classic in sunny Florida . He also talks about his good stats for the year even though it was a tough year with injuries and inconsistencies."Going into the Texas Open, I was second to Tiger (Woods) in all-around play, tied for second in putting, second in birdies per round, the top third in greens in regulation, first in three-putt avoidance and first in short putting ... and I was 145th on the money list, which was impossible," Parnevik said Monday while hitting practice shots out of a bunker at the Tesoro Club. "Those stats are for guys in the top five or the top 10 of the money list. I just couldn't believe it. I'm mind-boggled."Tags: PGA Tour, Jesper Parnevik More About: Back

Mickelson New Irons - Back To The Range
2007-10-24 02:54:00 Phil Mickelson put new irons in the bag for this past week's Fry's Electronics Open at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, which by the way another lefty ended up winning, Mike Weir. Obviously missing the cut wasn't what Phil was planning but he did. He was a heavy favorite to win this past week at Grayhawk Golf Club (his home course). GolfWRX.com had some picks of Phil's new irons, pretty sweet looking, almost makes me want to own a set of Callaways. Whether it was the new blade irons he had in the bag or the new Bermuda greens at Grayhawk, Mickelson just wasn't able to get on track for the first few days, back to the range I guess.Tags: Phil Mickelson, golf equipment, PGA Tour More About: Back , Range
Callaway X Forged C-Grind Wedges
2007-10-23 09:52:00 I guess Phil Mickelson has been working on a new wedge for 2008 alongside Callaway's club designers it will be called the Callaway X Forged C-Grind . Exclusive pictures at Today's Golfer:The top quality clubs are already proving popular on Tour as the world's top pros test them on the range and the new C-shaped sole design is winning lots of fans. The distinctive sole increases versitility, enabling the player to open the face and still keep the leading edge of the golf club down. A Kid's Vacation That Will Never Be Forgotten
2007-10-23 09:20:00 When I was alot younger than I am now I remember my parents taking my sister and I to Disney World in Florida. All I really can remember is how excited I was to be finally there and how it really was the happiest place on earth. Someday I want to give my kids that same feeling I remember getting when I got to experience Disney World.I was recently checking out some Orlando vacation home rental in and around the area of Disney World and it seems depending on the time of year you can make a trip to Disney World quite affordable. They even have a few golf courses there. Someday I will do that for my kids just like my parents did for me, many years ago.Tags: Disney World More About: Vacation , Forgotten
Weir Wins In Arizona
2007-10-23 02:41:00 It was nice to see Mike Weir overcame some crazy wind conditions in the desert of Arizona to beat Mark Hensby by one stroke on Sunday at the Fry’s Electronics Open. Weir's final-round 68 at Grayhawk’s Raptor Course was good enough for his 8th career victory and the first since his 2004 victory at the Nissan Open in LA. Lots of players struggled in the wind but it really just came down to a battle between Hensby and Weir. Weir and Hensby were never separated by more than one stroke all day. Weir's birdie on #15 opened up a one stroke lead that he didn't let slip away. A nice up and down from the bunker on the 18th hole, where he holed a six-footer sealed the victory for Weir.Did Mike Weir’s performance at the Presidents Cup four weeks ago, which included a singles victory over Tiger Woods have anything to do with his success this week. For sure his confidence must of been at a real great which I'm sure he'll use to carry himself into 2008. You knew it might be coming as ... More About: Wins , Izon
Mirror Mirror On The Wall Who's The Fairest?
2007-10-23 02:14:00 Lately I've been noticing my two girls spending alot of time around mirrors. I'll notice them staring into our large mirror in our round admiring themselves. Brushing there teeth seems to take for ever, I just don't think the teeth are actually getting brushed just alot of looking in the bathroom mirror.Another interesting development is some play makeup they get to use on occasion and of course the other day they were even using a hand held mirror as a makeup mirror in there rooms. Now there asking me both for real makeup mirrors. Having girls scares me sometimes but they'll have to get a bit older before I buy them a makeup mirror that's for sure. Cobble Beach Golf Links Named Best New Course in Ontario
2007-10-20 08:02:00 I'm sure the folks at Cobble Beach Golf Links are smiling as there course was named Ontario 's best new golf course by Ontario Golf Magazine this past week. I first heard of this course when I was reading SCOREgolf magazine. They named Cobble Beach the third best new course in Canada for 2007. The Doug Carrick-designed, John Anderson-built links on almost 600 acres of cascading shoreline property in Georgian Bluffs was also recently named best new 2007 Ontario course by Fairways Magazine. Fairways also called the new Nantucket-style Cobble Beach clubhouse, designed by Richard Wengle, the province's best for 2007.Definitely one course I might have to play next year. Although it is a bit pricey.

Auckland Awaits!
2007-10-19 07:19:00 About 10 years back when I lived in British Columbia I worked as a tree planter and towards the end of my 4 years of doing this I did some foreman work along with tree planting. One off season I had a chance to travel to New Zealand to plant trees there. I ended up traveling instead and didn't make it to New Zealand. Now it looks like I might get the opportunity to travel there after all, in particular the Auckland area. Obviously not as a tree planter though. Right now it looks like it's a real possibility. I've been doing some research on hotels in Auckland and there's definitely a wide range especially price wise. There seem to be alot of 2 and 3 star Auckland hotels and that is good because it's in my price range. I haven't really looked at anything else other than Auckland accommodation because I have no relatives there so it makes it kind of a priority.I may even try to fit in a game or two of golf when I'm in the Auckland area. There are a few courses in the area. One i... More About: Wait , Klan
Crazy Round For Nick Watney
2007-10-19 04:39:00 When I got up from sleeping today, of course I had to check the leaderboard for the Fry's Electronics Open. Some guys were just finishing there rounds some where just starting. Nick Watney's scorecard was the one that caught my eye here it is:Watney managed to shoot -5 which has him in a tie for 2nd but check out his quadruple bogey on #7. I wonder how many guys have won a PGA Tour event and actually had a quadruple bogey on one of there 4 scorecards. This guy had 11 birdies and didn't even have a practice round at Grayhawk Golf Course. Good to see even the pros get the odd "snowman". I wonder how he'll do tomorrow.PGA Tour More About: Crazy , Round
Drug Rehabilitation Can Be Your Friend
2007-10-19 04:21:00 I always get a kick out of these celebrities who one minute will be on T.V. saying they don’t have a problem with drugs and alcohol. Then a week later you see where they’ve been arrested with drugs and a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Go figure made you should be looking into some drug rehabilitation programs. Most seem to work and people I know who have had problems before say they work. Sometimes you can’t quite cold turkey and you need some extra help. Drug rehabilitation can be your friend. Looking For A Diamond?
2007-10-18 20:57:00 My wife and I will be married 10 years in 2010 and she’s made it no secret that she would like a diamond ring for this special occasion. When we got married we just agreed on wedding bands only but from subtle hints I know she would like a diamond ring. What women wouldn’t? In my search for the perfect diamond I found a great retailer in Jrdunn.com who will custom design what you are looking for. Their loose diamonds search feature is great just plug in the shape of the diamond you want along with carat size, color, clarity, and what kind of certificate. It easy to find what you want and I also really liked the price range feature because then you can just look at the diamonds you can afford. A good place to start searching for that perfect diamond. Fantasy Picks For Fry's Electronics Open
2007-10-18 10:50:00 An interesting week for golf as the Tour heads down to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Fry's Electronics Open . In Scottsdale for one year only. In 2008, the event will move to its permanent venue at the Institute Golf Course in Morgan Hill, CA. The Institue Golf Course is adding a new clubhouse in preparation for next year's event. The field is a bit stronger this week with the addition of World #2 Phil Mickelson and others including Mark Calcavecchia, Stewart Cink, Mike Weir and this year's FBR Open winner Aaron Baddeley. These are my picks for the week:Phil Mickelson- even thought he hasn't played since the President's Cup., he's a two time FBR winner and three time Tucson Open champion. Think this guy likes the desert.Bo Van Pelt- his last 3 starts are 8th-11th-5th (last week). Plus he has a solid record on desert courses. First win?Aaron Baddeley- local resident who won the FBR Open in February at the nearby TPC Scottsdale. He has become most consistent, numbering seven top ... More About: Fantasy
Surprise, More Weight Issues For Oprah
More articles from this author:2007-10-18 10:36:00 I'm tired of hearing about Oprah and here weight issues. In fact I'm tired of hearing about any celebrities weight battles. Yes some people have weight issues; apparently with Oprah she now has a thyroid condition that apparently slowed down her metabolism and caused her to gain 20 pounds. I guess its time for the diet pills now Oprah. It just seems there are so many celebrities with issues, whether it's liposuction problems, bad plastic surgery or drug problems. So they're real people too, give them a break and move on to something real important. More About: Weight , Issues , Weigh , Issue 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 |
