Samuel Peter today stopped Oleg Maskaev in the 6th round to win the WBC heavyweight title. The fight was full of action, but the quality of both fighters was not impressive. Oleg Maskaev entered the ring how i feared, seriously out of shape and in need of some ring time after his terrible injuries. Samuel Peter wanted to brawl the entire fight like he normally does and it won him the bout in the end. 10 Years ago both these fighters would not have been in the top 10 heavyweight rankings. Kelly Pavlik scored a wide UD over Jermain Taylor. I scored the fight to Kelly by two rounds judging from my middle class home. The fight was sloppy and both fighters struggled to live up to the high expectations the first fight created. Strong Points For Pavlik:- Was in command all night, setting the pace with a top notch jab. Which won him the fight on the scorers cards. - Forced Jermain to constantly move away around the ring and his power dominated.- In exchanges Kelly was to powerful, which was to be expected. Kessler should have little trouble disposing of the American. But then again, if Lacy's team accept a fight with Kessler i think its terrible management.- Vitali Tsypko or Peter Manfredo Junior.
