When Hassles Come Marching In
2008-03-18 12:40:00 One of the hassles of buying new equipment, bikes included, appliances or any item that help us make life more comfortable is keeping them fully functional. I hate to buy something that would breakdown under normal use and I would be forced to look for a repairman to fix it. This would specially be ...

January CMR: the Story
2008-01-26 09:40:00 The day started as soon as the alarm went off at 6 am. I was thinking of leaving the house at 6:45 just in time to be at the meeting place for the CMR at 7:30 am. So after a light breakfast of 2 peanut butter sandwiches and a cup of cocoa, and after pumping the rear wheel of my bike with a little more air, I left. I used to go through Katipunan Avenue, passing by the Ateneo on my way to UP as it has a more gentle climb, from Riverbanks Center to the corner of Aurora Blvd. and Katipunan. But this time I thought of going the shorter but steeper climb through Tumana all the way to Balara, and out to UP. I made it halfway through the zigzag road and walked my bike until the top. I could have biked until I reached the top but I didn’t want to overtax my heart so I dismounted and walked instead. I arrived at the AS Parking lot at 7:20 and as usual for the Fireflies, no one was there and I was actually the first to arrive. Shortly after, Mia Bunao, the designated Ride Leader c... A new cardiologist in a new hospital for this biker
2008-01-25 12:50:00 I was reading Skippyheart’s blog the other day and there I found out she would soon be moving to either San Diego or Las Vegas to be near her relatives. As a result she is in the process of setting up with her new doctor there. I, too went to a new cardiologist in the newly opened hospital. the Marikina Valley Medical Center, near my home. It is actually a 10 minute walk away or less than 5 minutes by bike. My primary reason is the nearness of the hospital. I used to go to the Philippine Heart Center for my regular heart checkup and it would take me around 30 minutes by my motorbike to go there. I would always have to wait for the doctor to come in late and thus I would also be late for work. My wife has previously inquired about the doctor’s availability and schedule. I asked her to look for one affiliated with the HMO provided by our office. There were several doctors available but I chose this one because her schedule, 10 am to 12 noon seemed to be t...
