By Brian Knapp & Loretta Hunt CSAC Postpones Ruling on UFC Lightweight King Until Nov. 13 The California State Athletic Commission today delayed a decision regarding the steroid-related suspension and fine for UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk during a nearly four-hour-long hearing in Los Angeles. The fate of the 34-year-old Minnesotan ? who tested positive for the banned anabolic agent Nandrolone Metabolite following his successful title defense against Hermes Franca at UFC 73 in July ? will be decided when the commission reconvenes at 1:30 PM PT Tuesday, Nov. 13. The CSAC made the decision to delay a ruling on Sherk after commissioner Julio Ramirez expressed concern over a 17-page brief from Howard Jacobs, Sherk?s attorney. The brief, which included 20 exhibits, never reached the seven CSAC members charged with voting. EliteXC President Gary Shaw announced today that the promotion will implement new weight classes to improve the safety of its competitors. ?I am very concerned in the mixed martial arts world of this drastic cutting of weight,? said Shaw. ?Fighters can fit better in these weight classes and fight for world titles without endangering their health.? By Sam Caplan Mike Bourke confirmed to FiveOuncesOfPain.com (http://www.FiveOuncesOfPain.com) on Wednesday afternoon that he has been forced to pull out of his scheduled Nov. 10 match for EliteXC against Kimbo Slice in Corpus Christi, Texas. A heartbroken Bourke said that he broke his left clavicle during a training session on Sunday when he attempted a takedown. Bourke was looking forward to the opportunity to fight Slice and was already in training for another bout when he was contracted to fight on Nov. 10. Since there was a lot of travel involved with his job, Bourke was able to convince his employer to take him off the road so that he could focus more on his training. Bodog Fight has left ION Television and will take a television hiatus until the promotion finds a new television home. Bodog Fight 's sixth season, already filmed and completed in Vancouver, Canada, is expected to air early 2008 on the new network. Until a new television deal is reached, Bodog Fight will air "Webisodes" every Tuesday and Saturday called "Bodog Fight: The Vault" on its website, bodogfight.net. The status of the UFC lightweight title should be clear later today, when champion Sean Sherk finally meets with the California State Athletic Commission to appeal his one-year suspension. Sherk tested positive for the steroid Nandrolone following his lightweight title defense against Hermes Franca at UFC 73. UFC President Dana White has said that he will see what the Commission's final decision is before he determines what to do with the lightweight title. Phil Baroni, Kazuhiro Nakamura and Adam Smith are also scheduled to appear in front of the commission on Wednesday to appeal their suspensions.

The season had gone well, and with the Grand Prix the IFL was going to bring in all-stars from each weight class to battle it out live, for the first time, on broadcast television. Best-laid plans don't always work out. After injuries, contract disputes and more injuries, the IFL was forced to replace some top-tier tournament talent. Pickens were so slim at 205 pounds that the IFL just decided to scrap the bracket and let Alex Schoenauer of the L.A.
