The Future is Later: Maybin to AA
2008-03-25 00:00:00
Looks like we’ll have to wait to see Cameron Maybin. The Marlins just optioned him to AA meaning Alejandro De Aza is our starting CF. I hope this was a tough choice because Maybin looks like he’s almost ready for the bigs. Either the team feels he would be harmed by ... ''; ?>

2008-03-21 00:38:00
Joe Frisaro is reporting that there are grumblings in the clubhouse that Jose Castillo will not make the team. It’s clear that Jorge Cantu had a great Spring and Dallas McPherson is injured. I’m wondering whether the Fish think Cantu and Alfredo Amezaga will play 3rd and then have Jason Wood backup first. ...

Spring is Almost Over But Questions Remain
2008-03-19 22:05:00
If you thought Spring Training would help answer many of the questions about the Marlins, think again. Here are some of what we believe are the lingering issues: Will Cameron Maybin make the major league roster? Arguably, Maybin proved that he deserves a spot but Alejandro De Aza had a strong spring and Cody Ross ...

Former Philadelphia Eagles owner Norman Braman has filed suit to challenge the $3 billion public works project that includes the Marlins’ ballpark. Hell To Freeze Over in Three Weeks
2008-02-08 19:51:00
We kid, of course. Miami-Dade County is losing its cool over the constant delays in the ballpark negotiations. Honestly, this is becoming a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for both sides so they need to start compromising. The longer the wait, the easier it is for this thing to collapse. Anyway, the County is giving the negotiations ...

It’s All About the Parking
2008-02-06 20:24:00
Miami Today tells us that the snag in the ballpark negotiations is all about parking. A preliminary agreement in December gave Miami the responsibility to build a 6,000-space garage near the stadium at the Orange Bowl site and find 6,000 more spaces nearby. But city officials, including Manager Pete Hernandez, have maintained since last month they plan to provide only the 6,000 garage spots. There is no doubt that infrastructure was one of the biggest issues surrounding the Orange Bowl location. The same thing happened with the DC ballpark and they ended up tabling the issue to get it done. If this is really the final hurdle then maybe MLB drops the issue to make it happen. The weirdest comment had to be this: Miami commission Chairman Joe Sanchez, whose district includes the Orange Bowl, said last month area residents depend on income from selling game-day lawn parking. “I am OK with 6,000 (spaces),” he said. “Twelve thousand I may not be OK with.” Yes, I ...
