Anthony Hamilton crashes Porsche supercar
2008-06-05 12:59:00
Oh, this is a story that is really painful to report. The Porsche Carrera GT is an incredibly rare, incredibly beautiful and incredibly powerful supercar. It has a 5.7L V10 power plant, a six-speed transmission, does 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds and is based on Le Mans technology. It will set you back £330,000. And Anthony Hamilton has just put one through a hedge.

F1: FIA vote liveblog - Mosley wins, threat of split, fears for British GP
2008-06-03 13:07:00
So, today’s the day when Max Mosley meets his nemesis in the form of a FIA hearing that will vote on whether members feel he is fit to continue as the organisation’s president. Opinion is split as to whether he’s going to pull it off - our view is that the political currents and eddies around this one are so deep that you’d need a great deal of insider knowledge to be able to make a worthwhile prediction. Insider knowledge that most of us don’t have. So, speculation of our own being fruitless, we’ll bring you links to other people’s speculation, and eventually news, as the day goes on. The meeting started at 0830 BST and the results of the secret ballot of the 222 members are expected this afternoon. Including reaction to the result, whichever way it goes, and the impact it is likely to have on the world of F1. Keep hitting refresh to get the latest. F1: Rumour mill sends Coulthard to Renault

David Coulthard could see out the rest of the F1 season partnering Fernando Alonso at Renault before retiring, according to a strange and rather silly rumour doing the rounds. Someone with too much time on their hands at the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell has taken a whole raft of existing speculation and joined the dots to make a pretty pattern that is supposed to kick in after the Canadian Grand Prix. In it, Sebastian Vettel would move to Red Bull and further his development as a driver by taking Coulthard’s seat. Nelson Piquet Jr would go to Toro Rosso instead of Vettel, to allow him to get his head straight in a lower-pressure environment. And Coulthard would meekly replace Piquet at Renault, to wind down his career as Fernando Alonso’s rear gunner. It certainly has the benefit of being neat and tidy, what with Renault being Red Bull’s engine supplier and all. And it would probably benefit the two younger drivers in the medium-to-long term. But will it h...
