Poll - Should Online Poker be legal ?
2008-05-12 12:34:00 I was sitting around the house yesterday reading the Sunday paper when I ran across an ariticle in the little Parade section about online poker . The story is a short one, but it's still good to see something in print that's Nationwide about the laws of online poker. The article is about a bill sponsored by Rep. Robert Wexler (D., Fla.) that seeks to exempt online poker and other games of skill from the UEIGA law. It mentions how much revenue online poker could bring this country in taxes as well . There's some interesting comments on the site as well .The biggest reason I bring this story up is because it has a poll going that I think everyone who loves poker should vote on. Just click Intelligence Report to read and make sure to vote on the poll . More About: Poker , Legal , Poll , Online , Online Poker

Wanted - Real Poker Players !
2008-04-11 15:25:00 Wanted - Dead or Alive Poker Players !The title says it all , and what I mean by it is I'm looking for Poker Players that are more than the typical freeroll hunter. The internet is full of those players that can't or won't spend a dime in order to play a good game of poker. Those are the same ones that I don't think will ever have any skill at the game . I'm not saying you will not find some good players in freerolls , but I can assure you that you will find more "donks" than you will "sharks". I tell a lot of folk , that if they want to learn how to play some solid poker , they should try joining a forum and get involved in their games .Game two is tomorrow for our Poker League and we could always use some more players . I enjoy these league games more than I do most any other poker game due to the caliber of players we get in them . You would be hard pressed to find any private poker tourneys that are played as well . With the style of play that goes... More About: Real , Wanted

Poker Dream & John Dutchak - Busted
2008-03-21 17:23:00 Been a lot of news lately about the Poker Dream network and it's owner John Dutchak . Quite a few of the members at the APCW have got taken in by this crook known as John Dutchak . I encourage anyone that loves this industry and believes in honest secure online sites, to spread the word around about this . We don't need any non-legit gambling or poker rooms getting away with such behaviour . Seems that this low life was selling poker skins for a low rate and had really built up a lot of trust . He'd even went to selling shares of the network , and folk just bought right into the scumbags plan.....From the looks of it he has now took the money , possibly several hundred thousand dollars , and pulled a disappearing act !J Todd, the administrator from the APCW, has looked into this with a fine tooth comb and is stepping in to get the word out . The APCW had invited Dutchak to step up to the plate and state his case, but he has not took the time to do so . J Todd is now making a case... More About: Busted
Online Poker is not illegal !
2008-03-19 17:37:00 I get asked often if online poker is illegal . It seems some folk are still mislead by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that President Bush signed into law Oct. 2006 . I try and explain to them that although some of the big online poker rooms closed American accounts that the simple answer is no . Online poker is NOT illegal by no means . The UIGEA did not make it illegal to play poker online. It made it illegal for companies to do business with online ... More About: Poker , Illegal , Online Poker
Surviving the bad beats of poker
2008-03-09 13:54:00 In poker, it’s very common for the player with the best hand preflop, or after the flop, to loose the hand by them time the river card is laid. I have seen tournaments won where a player needed to catch two very specific running cards in order to win with 4 of a kind. With only two cards left, the chances of this miracle to occur were slim (less than 1 %). But it did happen. It does happen to all of us and when we face the bad beat, it can be very frustrating. How do you deal with it? When you were the obvious favorite, and the opponent pulled one out of his ass on the river and beats you, how do you recover? Sometimes, hands like these result in significant losses, or even in loosing all your chips if you play tournaments. Bad beats affect you. That is a fact.I have seen players get angry at the table, get angry at the dealer, get angry at other players, and wanting “revenge” which means they made it a personal mission to take down the SOB that slapped them in the ... Judge Dismisses Internet Gambling Case
2008-03-07 14:14:00 According to the Associated Press a federal judge dismissed a challenge to a ban on Internet gambling brought by an online gambling association, the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association. U.S. District Judge Mary L. Cooper in Trenton N.J. stated that "The plaintiff's claims express a fundamental disagreement with Congress's judgment that Internet gambling should be controlled legislatively, and pose questions as to whether (the law) ... will be successful in accomplishing its desired ends," she wrote. "But it is not the court's role to pass on the wisdom of a Congressional act or speculate as to its effectiveness."This is not all bad news for U.S. players though. Judge Cooper ruled that the association has the legal standing to challenge the law in a federal appeals court. Joe Brennan Jr., the IMEGA group's chairman said an appeal would be filed within the next two months.Fore more details read the NewsDay.com story . More About: Gambling , Case
$200,000 mistake at BetFair Poker
2008-02-10 14:15:00 I've been reading at a couple forums about BetFair's software glitch that caused about a $200,00.00 mistake on payouts this past month . This caused the software to pay every player in a six-pack sit and go game the 2nd place prize money, apart from the winner who got the normal payout. This gave everyone at the table a profit on their buy-in . I see where some folk actually think that it was ok that a lot of these folk took advantage of this and cashed out . Since when is it ok to gain from anyone's misfortune ? I'm sorry people , but I just think this shows the true character of a man . To knowingly do this, in my opinion , is nothing short of stealing . The problem happened last month when certain players caught wind of what was happening . Many players went to testing the situation out over and again, at higher and higher stakes. This eventually lead to an unusual large amount of traffic in BetFair's $1000 six-pack sit and go's. Hundreds of thes... More About: Poker , Betfair
18 year old wins $1.4-million poker jackpot
2008-02-07 14:39:00 Online poker has really opened the doors for a lot of younger people to the poker world . With the low buy-ins online for the satellite games we have saw all the main poker events have a larger player base each year . From the WSOP to the European Poker Tour, you see a large amount of online players make the field at little to even no cost at all to get there from rooms like Full Tilt as well as new comers like Walker Poker .The latest example is 18-year-old Mike McDonald who has just recently won $1.4 million in a poker tournament in Germany. That makes him the youngest player ever to win a European Poker Tour event. The Waterloo, Ont., native learned how to play poker after a chess teacher told him that he could make some good money by playing online. Mike McDonald went on to make about $10,000 in his first year of online play and says he went on to win hundreds of thousands more in the following months !This young pro has played countless hours of poker online and has now r... Charity Poker Tournament News
2008-02-03 15:53:00 Just wanted to let everyone know the outcome for the 5Th Street Charity Ball yesterday . We had 68 players show up to help the Make a Wish Foundation and we raised $136.00 for the children . That may not sound like a lot of money , but through the months the money does add up . I hope to soon be getting the total amount raised to date . I do want to congratulate one Micky08 who won the game . Wear that new accolade with pride .I got busted out fairly early myself when I was dealt the hooks. The blinds were at 20 and I raised to 100 and had one caller . The flop came K-A-K and I checked , as did the caller . The turn came J giving me my boat.........I'm thinking by this time that the other player might have A-Q or A-J . I push allin , he calls and shows me that he's holding the bullets ! All I could say was well played.........his check at the flop had trapped me like a deer in a set of head lights. We here at the House of Poker Blues have a poll going at the forum as well folk . Democrats stand with online gambling .
2008-01-20 15:42:00 I thought I'd post what the top three Democrats stand with online gambling is . As far as I know it's pretty much a washout with the Republicans. I've heard McCain , Huckabee and Romney all say that they don't see how the internet could ever be regulated....First off we have Edwards . I like Edwards and where he stands on most cases but he does oppose legalization of online gambling and doubts that it can be controlled. Well Mr. Edwards , I'm sorry to say that that alone has cost you my vote . You and the other two are almost the same on every issue but this , so you will not be getting a vote from me . I'll never understand how online porn can be legal , but not gambling....Second we have Obama . Obama is a poker player himself and admits that he likes a good cash game . Obama says he worries that the Internet is “a Wild West of illegal activity”. He supports a study of Internet gambling and supports regulation to address the worst abuses. Mr. Obama , thank ... Online Poker tournament lets Marine pay tuition bill
2008-01-10 15:57:00 I was just reading a feel good story this morning about Shippensburg University’s Josh Froment. Josh Froment is a Marine that will be going to Iraq soon and likes to play online poker ....he sounds like a right smart feller , but he was having problems paying his tuition bill for college . Josh had took out loans and obtained credit cards to get through school. And the strategy backfired: The credit card payments multiplied and other expenses, such as rent, utilities and groceries, began to take their toll as well. He had to drop out of college and went to work full time at the local Wal-Mart....“I was at the point where I was paying $350 a month on credit cards alone,” Froment said. “The $600 I was making every two weeks, that just paid all the bills. I lived paycheck to paycheck and lived off ramen noodles.” Seems like about this time Josh got his start playing online poker in freerolls . He won 9 bucks in one and says , “From there, I use... (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Randy "The Natural" Couture will host "Operation
2008-01-06 15:41:00 I like poker and I really like poker tournaments that are played for a good cause . I also enjoy Boxing as well as the Ultimate Fighting Championship . One of the best all time fighters at the UFC has to be 5 time UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy "The Natural " Couture . This man is just awesome in the ring , even though he's past the 40 year mark . It was a real shame that he retired from the UFC , in my opinion he still has the ability to fight with the best of them . Who knows , he may still come back to the octagon . A veteran of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division, "the Screaming Eagles", Couture started the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation after visiting soldiers who required amputations from their service in the war against terror. According to a press release, the goal of the UFC Hall of Famer's foundation is to raise money to help the "brave men and women fulfill any of their unmet needs as they return back to civilian life." I tell folk that it pays to just play smaller stakes when that bad run comes , or to even take a break from the game . Sometimes that break can do a player a world of good . Maybe read a book or just watch some poker on TV. Walker Poker - Great poker room for U.S. players too !
2008-01-03 18:42:00 If you are looking for another great poker room to play , I have found just the room . The site is U.S.A. friendly and does have what I consider to be the best option to fund your gaming available , epassporte . The site is Walker Poker and has an average player base of 3000 to 4000 online at any given time . They have what I consider to be the best skin and some of coolest features of any site you can find , like rabbit hunting .Rabbit hunting is exposing the top cards of the deck at the online poker room to see which cards would have shown up next, and check whether they would have won if you had kept playing the hand. This might be applied in case of a hand won before dealing the river or turn card because all other players have folded. At Walker Poker they let the winner choose, so when you win a hand before showdown you can chose weather to rabbit and show your opponents your bluff , or that they were right to fold. The only price is that you will need to show you... More About: Players , Great , Room
Fox News supporting the online gamblers ?
2008-01-02 15:59:00 I've been saying all along that the internet gambling laws need to be brought to the publics attention more through way of prime time network news channels . Here where I'm at I have yet to see anything on the television or the newspaper myself , and I know for a fact that most folk around here have never even heard of the UIGEA . Much less what it means. The problem is that if you don't play online poker or the casinos , chances are you've never heard of it . The law does not make online gambling illegal here in the States mind you , it just bans banks from allowing money transfers to and from gambling sites . That's the simplest way I know to put it . That makes it very hard to play most sites that have casinos , but for online poker sites it's still fairly easy as long as they don't have casino games . A couple online wallets have stuck by our side and say that online poker is a game of skill and NOT gambling . I have to say I agree with this 100% . The proof ?... Promoting Doyles Room Once Again
2007-12-30 16:16:00 Yep , you've read correctly . The House of Poker is now promoting Doyles Room . I guess you could say I was a might upset with the whole thing to say the least . Doyles Room turned into something of a drama story following the introduction of the UIGEA when sites on the tribeca network were no longer open to American players. Doyles Room wanted to remain open to U.S. players , so when the Tribeca Network was sold to the iPoker Network , which is closed to the U.S.A. , they were left in limbo looking for a U.S. friendly network. After quite a spell the room finally settled on the Microgaming Network for its new home. Doyles Room will now benefit from increased traffic at the network which boasts quite the list of tournaments and ring games to play . Another thing I really like about the site now is that t... Germany Banning Online Gambling January 1st
2007-12-28 14:52:00 Bad news for our friends from Germany . It looks like they will be banning online gambling come the first of the year . According to Bloomberg.com , online gambling will be banned in Germany as of Jan. 1 after German states ratified an accord that preserves the country's state monopoly for lotteries and most forms of betting. It seems that 13 of Germany's 16 states have voted to approve the new online-betting laws .This leaves me to wonder who's next , and my guess would have to be Norway . Back in October I had found an article saying that they would in all likely hood be doing just that by spring of next year . The legal adviser to Norway's Ministry of Culture, Rolf Sims , stated at an Internet gambling conference in Barcelona that the country was drafting laws that mirror the U.S. Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act . As we all know , that has made it very difficult to fund online gambling here in the States . Keep in mind though , that online poker rooms are sti... More About: January , Online
