Olson out, Cameron In?
2008-01-09 04:38:00 All things considered, this is probably the smartest move the Rams could make. Cameron is a proponent of the power running game, and that will be a perfect fit for Steven Jackson who has displayed a hunger for the football this year, that for the most part, went unsatisfied. This could also open up the passing game and utilize SJax out of the backfield on downfield routes similar to the way LaDainian Tomlinson was used. The power running game should take a lot of heat off of Bulger if successful. That success hinges primarily on the condition of the Rams offensive line. While Cameron favors a stronger, more punishing line, the Rams currently have a more agile front 5 with the exception of the tackles. With Pace’s longevity in question, and the overall maturation of Alex Barron at a standstill, the Rams may target Jake Long, the 6′7, 313lb tackle from Michigan in the draft this year — provided he isn’t taken with the #1 overall pick by Miami. Fantasy Football Files
2008-01-07 03:20:00 A look back at the preseason hype surrounding players projected high in fantasy football drafts this year. Some panned out, and some, well, not so much. Tell ya what, it would have been more realistic if Bulger was throwing passes while Volkswagons were being hurled at his face at the same time. Wait for the first clip to completely end and then select the other clips underneath. More About: Football , Fantasy , Files , Fantasy Football
What to do with the #2 pick?
2008-01-06 20:41:00 I believe that there are two players that will be in this draft that are highly desirable to the NFL…Glenn Dorsey and Darren McFadden. While these two players do not fill needs for the Rams, whoever is left after the Dolphins pick will have huge value to other teams that want to seriously move up in their respective talent level. This knowledge, combined with Shaw’s comments earlier this year, could actually result in the Rams being more active in draft day deals than ever before. New England and Dalls are the two teams that first come to mind. While New England has a very good back in Maroney, they must know that they cannot survive beyond this season on the pass alone, and that a 1-2 punch of Maroney and McFadden would make them the ultimate offensive team of this era, even moreso than they already are. With San Francisco’s #1 pick, which would be no lower than #8, the Patriots are in a position to move up and make the Rams an offer that they cannot refuse. At th... More About: Pick

2008-01-02 01:00:00 I’d like to start off by thanking everyone who supported this site and the attached message board this past year. Special thanks to all members of “The X” (I didn’t coin that - I promise). Thanks to Brett and Punit at MVN.com, thanks to my wife for being so understanding of this obsession, thanks for comfortable computer chairs, thanks to my advertisers, thanks to the members of the FRN and all the associated webmasters over there, thanks to Clifton Ryan and Quinton Culberson for restoring my faith in the underdog, and most of all, thanks to mi familia for the PS3 so that I may properly crown the St Louis Rams on my own. A hearty “thanks for nothin” to the St Louis Rams too. Nice season, fellas. 3-13 was well worth all the anticipation leading up to the season. Sure glad I put 100’s of man hours into constructing and maintaining this monument to your ineptitude. A promising off-season with good free agent signings and a beast of a DT in... 2007-12-31 17:18:00 Thank God it’s finally over. Hit the lights and shut the fat lady up already. The St Louis Rams punctuated their putrid season with an equally putrid performance against the Arizona Cardinals yesterday. The loss drops the Rams to 3-13 on the year, and gives them the worst record for the team in its existence in St. Louis and the worst since their days in Los Angeles (1991). The Rams put up a submissive 19 points on the Cardinals, but for the second week in a row, gave up 40+ points to the opposition. Last week the Steelers ran up 41 points on the Rams, and this week the Cardinals followed suit with 48 of their own at the hands of former Rams MVP Kurt Warner. Warner was 23-39 on the day with 300 yards and three touchdowns. Warner also threw two interceptions — one to Oshimigho Atogwe, who finished the season with 8 picks — the most since Dexter McCleon (8) in 2000. Those who used the Rams as a catalyst to securing a fantasy football championship benefited great...

Rams/Cardinals Preview
2007-12-28 21:59:00 Rams @ Cardinals Current Line: Cardinals giving 6 points ~ Over/Under 48 points Scouting Report Courtesy of Sporting News Warroom Why To Watch There are many parallels between these two NFC West foes. Both the Rams and the Cardinals have had problems with injuries, particularly along the offensive line and at quarterback. Both teams have potentially potent offenses that have tended to score quickly but struggled to keep their head of steam as games have worn on. And, despite the fact neither team made the playoffs, you can expect them to play with pride. First-year coach Ken Whisenhunt has worked at changing the culture in the Cardinals’ locker room, but he’s still a year away from putting his stamp on this team. It would help if he were working with a healthy team. You can only hang on for so long when you have to turn to your backup quarterback (Kurt Warner) for the bulk of the season, or when your defense struggles to pressure the passer. It took the Rams nine games ... More About: Preview
It’s that time again….
2007-12-28 00:38:00 It’s getting to the end of the year and it’s time to consider nominations for this season’s Rammie Awards. When you’re evaluating a 3-12 team, it’s pretty hard to find any bright spots, but, there’s a few. Some of these nomination are serious, most are not. The nominations are officially open: MVP: Tie: O.J. Atogwe and Steven Jackson. Both these guys are the only reason the Rams have three wins. Atogwe has been a real playmaker on defense, he’s always around the ball. With 7 int’s this guy would be in Pro Bowl if he wasn’t playing for such a miserable team. Jackson has been a beast when healthy and receiving adequate blocking. Makes me wonder what he might have accomplished this year with a good line and more hip hop in the dome. Honorable mention to Will Witherspoon who had some rough moments early in the season, but came back strong and played like a monster in the latter half. Rookie of the Year: Tie: Adam Carriker and Clifton Ryan. Both ... More About: Time
The Art of War - pt. 3
2007-12-26 21:36:00 With the reason behind the Rams’ poor season becoming increasingly evident, we now set our sights on Sun Tzu’s 3rd of 7 considerations used to determine the outcome of a battle. The first consideration, leadership, showed how important it is to have a coach (or leader) who commands respect from his players and can get his men to play and act like a disciplined team. The second consideration showed how important it is to have a talented and strong quarterback (or general) leading the troops into battle. Resilliency in that regard is also a must. Now we’ll break down the 3rd consideration, which reads, “With whom lie the advantages derived from Heaven and Earth?”. First we must define “Heaven” and “Earth”. Heaven signifies night and day, cold and heat, times and seasons. Earth comprises distances, great and small; danger and security; open ground and narrow passes; the chances of life and death. While not necessarily open to i...
The Art of War - pt. 2
2007-12-24 21:17:00 In our first segment of “The Art of War”, we began to determine the conditions of both “armies” prior to battle in order to determine which was more prepared and thus, had a higher probability of success. There are seven conditions or considerations used by Sun Tzu to forecast either victory or defeat for either side. To recap, we’re using the Steelers and Rams as examples and running through the seven considerations to see if the result of their last meeting could have been accurately predicted. The first consideration was leadership. Which team had the better leader (or coach) and which of the two commanded more respect from his players. Suffice it to say, Mike Tomlin won that head-to-head by a landslide. Now we’ll move onto the second consideration, which begs the question: “Which of the two generals has the most ability?”. For all practical purposes, we’ll use the quarterbacks as the generals, as they are mostly commonl... |
