Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has accepted the FA's charge but he will appeal against the severity of the ban. Rooney was charged by the FA for the use of offensive, insulting and / or abusive language after swearing into a television camera during Man United's 4-2 win over West Ham. A statement released by the FA read: "Manchester United player Wayne Rooney has today admitted a charge for the use of offensive, insulting and / or abusive language. "However, Rooney has submitted a claim that the automatic penalty of two games is clearly excessive. A commission will hear the submission tomorrow (Wednesday). "The charge relates to an incident during his side?s fixture with West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday 2 April 2011."

Yesterday Michael Carrick signed a new contract with Manchester United, today it's Darren Fletcher 's turn to sign a new deal with the club. Man United have confirmed that the midfielder has signed a new four-year deal, which will keep the Scottish international at Old Trafford until 2015. Fletcher has come through Man United's academy, he made his first team debut on the 1st March 2003 against FC Basel in the Champions League, the game finished as a 1-1 draw. Manchester United owners the Glazer family have reiterated their stance on the club not being for sale. The Qatar Royal Family have been linked with a £1.6billion bid to buy Man United but the Glazers have insisted that they won't sell. A statement read: "The board notes recent press speculation regarding a possible bid for Manchester United" "The owners remain fully committed to their long-term ownership of the club." "No discussions have taken place, Manchester United is not for sale and the owners will not entertain any offers." The statement was released alongside United's second quarter financial results, which showed that in 12 months the clubs debt has shrunk from £512.5m to £489.4m from the end of 2010. Manchester United have confirmed that Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year contract extension with the club, which will see him at United until the summer of 2012. The 37-year old has made 862 appearances for Man United, scoring 158 goals in the process. So far this season Giggs has made 24 appearances, scoring three goals. Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat against Wolves last weekend with a win over City rivals Manchester City tomorrow lunchtime. Man United may have lost last weekend but they are still top of the Premier League table, four points ahead of Arsenal who drew 4-4 with Newcastle. Man City won 3-0 against West Brom last weekend and are in third, five points behind Man United but they have played a game more than United and Arsenal. Both Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans have been ruled out so Chris Smalling will start alongside Nemanja Vidic in the centre of Man United's defence. Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez is expected to be named on the bench suffering from fatigue. Along with Ferdinand and Evans, Owen Hargreaves and Antonio Valencia are on the injured list. On the 6th February 1958 twenty-three people lost their lives after Flight 609 ZU failed to get off the ground in Munich and crashed. The team were returning from a European Cup match in Belgrade, Yogoslavia, against Red Star Belgrade. Also on the plane were the back-room staff, journalists, and some members of the public. The plane had to stop in Munich to refuel. It had been snowing in Munich and the plane had twice failed to get off the ground, the third take-off attempt ended in disaster. The plane was unable to get airbourne, skid off the runway and ploughed through a fence. The plane then shot across a road and collided with a house. 20 people died instantly, Duncan Edwards died 15 days later, co pilot Captain Kenneth Rayment died three weeks later and Frank Swift died on the way to hospital.
