In doing that Man United have failed to set a new club record of 30 games unbeaten in the league. Rafael Da Silva returned after suffering concussion during Man United's game against Blackpool on the 25th January. Darren Fletcher was also fit to start after picking up an eye injury during United's 3-1 win over Aston Villa midweek. Rio Ferdinand was originally named in the starting line-up but was injured during the warm-up, Jonny Evans replaced him. There was no Rio Ferdinand for United after he failed to fully recover from a groin injury but Rafael Da Silva did return after serving a one-match ban. Many Italian sides and Premier League side West Brom had believed to be interested in taking the 19-year old on loan, Sampdoria look to have won the race. United brought in Tomasz Kuszczak to replace Edwin Van Der Sar, who has come down with flu. Darren Fletcher, Gabriel Obertan and Gary Neville also came into the starting line-up.
