Late Penalty Secures Qualification
2010-11-24 23:47:00 Wayne Rooney stepped up and scored a late penalty for Man United, which guaranteed progression to the last 16 of the Champions League . Manchester United had most of the possession throughout the game but found it incredibly difficult to break down the Rangers defence. United should have been awarded a stonewall penalty only minutes in after Dimitar Berbatov was brought down in the area by Steven Davis. Somehow both the referee and extra official missed it. Considering all the injuries and illnesses that Man United have been suffering with, it was a good performance from the team. There wasn?t much of a difference between the two sides during the first half, it was fairly even but United dominated the second and will be disappointed that they didn?t score.
