Bryan Robson has returned to Manchester United as a global ambassador. Yesterday Arsenal could only manage another draw, this time it was against Middlesbrough. United and Chelsea both won 1-0- away from home and those results saw United go to the top of the table on goal difference and Chelsea are only three points away from the joint leaders.Next Sunday is Super Sunday when the 'top four' play each other. Arsenal take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Manchester United take on Liverpool at Old Trafford. All four teams will be looking for the three points. My Reaction : I am personally pretty happy with the draw, we get to play the second match at home. Roma will play better than they did in the 7-1 thrashing but i do think that we can go through. If we do get into the semi finals then we wont play an english team, so that is another plus point. When i read an article this morning on what happened to Darren Fletcher it made me laugh. Darren Fletcher had been great for United in the last few matches but he had a little accident after the Lyon game- did it have anything to do with Scholes, Hargreaves, Carrick or Anderson?Here's the story:Thirty minutes after the Lyon match Fletcher was knocked unconscious when a toilet door fell on his head. During the Champions League match at Lyon , United winger Cristiano Ronaldo had a laser aimed at him by a Lyon fan.UEFA have confirmed that they have opened disciplinary proceedings against Lyon.~United reported the incident and Uefa 's Control and Disciplinary Committee will now examine evidence in preparation for a hearing on 20th March.~This isnt the first time a player has been targeted by a laser, i can remember Chelsea striker Didier Drogba being targeted by a laser too. It looks like United striker Wayne Rooney will not be leaving Manchester United . Rooney has said that the Premier League is the best leagie in the world and that he intends to stay at United for the rest of his career, which obviously is fantastic news for everyone associated with Manchester United. So far this season United have lost five matches and these five matches were the matches that Rooney didnt play in, which just shows how important he is. Last night Manchester United made it through to the next round of the Champion's League by beating Lyon 1-0 at Old Trafford with a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, yet again. United dominated the match but failed to score a second goal which made it a bit of a nervous finish but we made it through. Arsenal (knocked out AC Milan, the holders), Barcalona (knocked out Celtic) and Fenerbahce (knocked out Sevilla) also made it through last night, so with three more matches tonight and one next week, who would we prefer in the next round. Next season Rio Ferdinand 's contract will run out and he will be able to leave United on a free transfer in the 2009 January transfer window. In some newspapers this morning apparently his agent Pini Zahavi has said that negotiations for a new contract will not take place before the summer. I can understand that Rio wants to concentrate on the football which is fair enough, but the way i see it is, you either want to be at United or not. But, good news for all United fans is that Pini Zahavi spoke to skysportsnews and said that they will start contract talks shortly. Zahavi told skysportsnews that there is a 'plan to shortly begin talks between Rio Ferdinand and Manchester United'. I would love it if Ferdinand signs a news contract, he has been fantastic alongside Vidic this season and i think they can have many great seasons together in the centre of defence, sorry, i have made it sound a bit gay. Captain Gary Neville returned last night (again) when he played for the Manchester United reserves against Liverpool reserves. United lost 2-0 but Neville did play for a whole 60 minutes, hopefully he didnt pick up another injury, it would be great to see him return to the first team. ~ Anyway, the match, Xavi Alonso (pen) and Harry Kewell scored for Liverpool. United did have two goals written off though so it wasnt one sided. Eagles had a good chance but the goalie managed to tip the ball over the bar. There was a crowd of 10,546 in the Halliwell Jones Stadium, which was bigger than the match at Preston last night. ~ Neville is expected to return to first team action soon but will he get straight into the first team? Brown is playing well but he is also expected to leave us in the summer. So when Neville is fit for the first team, who will start? Brown or Neville?
