Shortly after defeating Matt Hughes in UFC 46, Penn signed to fight in the K-1 organization. The UFC promptly stripped him of the welterweight title belt, claiming Penn breached his contract and that the signing constituted him refusing to defend his title. Penn filed a suit against the UFC and publicized his side of the conflict, claiming his UFC contract had already expired. Rich Franklin's father Passes Away from a Heart Attack

No other information is available at this time.The former champion underwent surgery last week in Las Vegas to repair a torn medial collateral ligament in his knee following his second loss to current titleholder Anderson Silva at UFC 77 in Cincinnati in October. The surgery went well, according to Cox, and Franklin is already putting weight on the leg.Recently re-signed with the UFC, Cox said Franklin (24-3) aims to step back into the Octagon on Saturday, April 19 against Travis Lutter at an event planned for the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Matt Serra will have a chance to defend his welterweight crown against Gsp in Montreal Canada on April 19 at the Bell Centre. Serra, who was scheduled to face Matt Hughes at UFC 79 Nemesis was forced to pull out of the fight due to a herniated disk. Gsp was able to fill in for the injured serra and secure his chance to get the welterweight belt back.
