The Wilford Effect
2008-05-06 06:15:00
With all this talk about the rookies recently, I think that there's one new acquisition that might actually be getting overlooked in many fans' eyes.  The signing of former Jaguars WR Ernest Wilford is really going to have a nice positive effect on this Miami offense.  At 6'4, 233, he may not be flashy.  But he's big and physical and will provide our quarterback (whoever it happens to be) with a reliable target on key plays. Reliability is something that the Dolphins lacked a lot of last season.  Consider that there was no wide receiver on the Dolphins roster last season who caught more than 50% of the passes that were thrown their way (excluding Greg Camarillo, who was only targeted 10 times, catching 8 passes).  The receiver with the highest catch percentage last year in Miami?  Derek Hagan, with a success rate of 50%. Last season with Jacksonville, Ernest Wilford had a success rate of 61%, catching 45 passes on 74 total targets.  That's rat...

Dolphins sign 2, waive 4
2008-05-05 22:50:00
The Dolphins today have announced the signings of CB Scorpio Babers and LB Keith Saunders.  Both were undrafted free agents who were given the opportunity to workout at the team's recently concluded rookie mini-camp. Also, the Dolphins have waived 4 players, two of which were with the team last year.  Those two are LB Abraham Wright and DE Derrick Robinson.  Wright, you'll remember, was a training camp standout last year under Cam Cameron and Dom Capers.  Many thought he would make an ideal pass-rushing outside linebacker in Miami's 3-4.  Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland clearly disagree. The two other players Miami has let go are WR Marcel Reece and CB Aaron Lane, both of which were undrafted free agents who the Dolphins signed last week after the draft.

Weekend Roundup: Mini-camp highlights
2008-05-05 06:15:00
Incase you've been living under a rock for the past 48 hours, you know that the main story of this weekend for the Dolphins was their rookie mini-camp, the first one of 2008.  And with it's conclusion on Sunday, there's really only one thing that Dolphin fans (and football fans in general) are thinking:  Football season can't get here soon enough.  All this weekend's mini-camp really did was wet my appetite for, of course, more football.  But we'll have to wait a little bit for that. Here are some of the storylines that came out of this weekend's mini-camp: A NEW ERA HAS BEGUNFor Tony Sparano, this weekend really marked the beginning of what will hopefully be a successful head coaching career.  And he was just as excited as anyone to get on the practice field for the first time.  On Friday, Sparano shared with the media: "It was great. I was excited; didn’t sleep much last night. All of the administrative stuff for me, from that standpoint...

Day at Mini Camp
2008-05-04 01:30:00
[Editor's Note by Matty I] A big thanks to KCarr9 for sharing some of his observations from today.  His thoughts can be found after the jump. [end note] When I arrived at the facility there wasnt alot of people there, maybe 75 at the most, so I was pretty excited that I got to see the dolphins rookies so early. They started by giving us a tour of the bubble, weight room, and team meeting room, that was interesting but paled in comparison to actually watching the rookies play. Im not an NFL scout but im coming into my senior season at the Varsity level for my high school. I was a little disappointed that the defense practiced so far away but the offense ended up being more exciting anyway. I ended up taking some mental notes on a few of the players and thought i would share. Davone Bess- Seemed to lack elite speed, but showed good athleticism anyway. His route running faded, particularly his posts and fades. Otherwise he caught anything that was close to h...

Video Time: Phillip Merling and Jalen Parmele
2008-05-03 07:00:00
It's Saturday, which means it's time for some videos.  Since rookie mini-camp is going on this weekend, might as well make video time feature two of the newest Miami Dolphins. First up is Miami's selection at #32, Phillip Merling.  Notice how he is always attempting to rip the ball out of the ball carriers' hands: Was it just my imagination, or did Merling look like an absolute monster out there?  And for a man his size, he can certainly move.  Next up is one of Miami's 6th round picks, RB Jalen Parmele.  Parmele is likely going to have every opportunity to win the 3rd RB job.  His video is below: Parmele looks like he could be a real steal and could be a guy who could potentially help keep Ronnie's workload lower early on in the season.  But, of course, we'll have to see how he does against some better competition. Thoughts below...

Dolphins Minicamp: Day One Notes
2008-05-03 01:47:00
As you all know, the Dolphins have their first minicamp this weekend and it features just rookies.  Below are some of the highlights from the day courtesy of the local papers: First are some notes from Edgar Thompson: -Henne does have a long windup at times, but was accurate on many of his passes in windy conditions. He definitely throws a nice long ball. Henne also was the victim of a lot of drops. That’s to be expected for a QB working with a bunch of jittery rookies hoping to make a good impression. -One of them did stand out - Hawaii WR Davone Bess. He didn’t get drafted despite catching 108 passes last season and scoring 41 TDs in his college career. Bess (5-10, 195) is a little small and a tad slow (4.63 in 40), but he catches everything thrown his way. He made the best catch of the day, a diving grab on a down-and-in route thrown by Henne. -Jayson Foster also looks like he’s pretty dynamic. But at 5-foot-7, 170 pounds, the former Georgia Southern star ...

No "live-blogging" for you
2008-05-02 20:40:00
One of the things that I most enjoyed last year during mini-camps and training camp were the "live-blogging" reports from the 3 big South Florida newspapers.  In fact, continually refreshing the page during training camp was probably my all time favorite way to slack off at work. But now, much like the "soup nazi" rejects Elaine and George, the Dolphins will not allow the "live-blogging" of any of their practices, including this weekend's rookie mini-camp. Sure, it's not really a big deal.  After all, we'll still hear about the practices once they are over and the writers have a chance to write their reports and observations.  But no longer will we all have an additional way to kill time at work.  Now what are we going to do?  Actually work?  I don't think so. Anyways, that means the first mini-camp session of the 2008 season is currently going on.  And we have no idea what's actually happening, and we won't have any idea until later on when ...

Talking Anthony Fasano
2008-05-02 18:00:00
Yesterday, Dave Halprin from Blogging The Boys gave us his thoughts on new Dolphins LB Akin Ayodele.  So, today, Dave shares his thoughts below about new Dolphins TE Anthony Fasano: Anthony Fasano was brought in when the Cowboys were planning to institute a 2-TE base offense and his job was to play opposite Jason Witten. We thought he was a tough blocker who could also get out in the passing lanes and make plays. This never really panned out. We dropped the 2-TE scheme pretty quickly and he went to being a reserve behind Witten and used as a blocker, sometimes out of the backfield as a pseudo-FB. The kid was a willing blocker but his technique wasn't always sound and he missed blocks as much as he made them. He never became a receiving threat, partly because he was behind Witten, but partly because he just couldn't shake the coverage. The lasting memory for Dallas fans about Fasano was his drop of a TD in the Giants playoff game. In short, he was a disappointment in Dallas b...

Talking Phillip Merling
2008-05-02 06:15:00
One guy we haven't really touched on yet is Clemson defensive end Phillip Merling, Miami's selection with the 32nd overall pick.  But I did want to make sure we talked about him because he really was a steal for the Dolphins at #32 overall.  He's a player who was thought to be a mid 1st round pick, but fell likely due to the recent hernia surgery he went through.  Oh, and speaking of the surgery and his recovery, there was a report  I heard on NFL Network that said if Sunday was a gameday, Merling would be listed as "probable."  So, clearly, his injury isn't a serious issue anymore. Merling comes to the Dolphins at 6'4, 275, and as an absolute stud against the run.  Below is what NFL Draft Countdown has to say about Merling: Strengths: Terrific size and bulk with long arms...Great quickness...Has a non-stop motor...Is very strong and powerful...Plays with a nasty demeanor...Excellent range and he is relentless in pursuit...Natural pass rusher with...

Dolphins Minicamp
2008-05-02 00:07:00
[Editors Note by Matty I] This was originally posted by Little Nicky.  I just edited it for front-page posting.  Also, here's the link to some more info on each player.  [end note] I'm disappointed that the rookie minicamps aren't open to the public.  I'm not sure how they've done it in years past, but I would definitely attend this year's if they allowed it.  My question is, how can we get Matty a media credential? lol.  Any ideas?  I want a first hand account of how the rookies look instead of getting a recap on the radio from a clueless Joe Rose or a drunk Jim Mandich.  Anyway..  Here's the final list of signings and tryouts for the rookie minicamp this weekend.  The team officially announced 14 signings and 4 tryouts through UDFA. Signings Davone Bess WR (Hawaii) Titus Brown LB (Miss. St.) Mike Byrne OL (Delaware) Dan Carpenter K (Montana) Jayson Foster QB/WR (Georgia Southern) Dan Gore OL (Boise St.) Daren Heerspink OL (...

Talking Akin Ayodele
2008-05-01 19:00:00
I recently got the chance to catch up with Dave Halprin of Blogging The Boys, SBN's Dallas Cowboys blog, to get his thoughts on Akin Ayodele.  After all, he's watched Akin more than any of us have over the past couple of seasons.  So who better to tell us a little bit about him than Dave.  Below are his thoughts on Ayodele: Akin Ayodele was a solid player for us but he wasn't very dynamic. He started at WILB for two years and was the kind of guy who made his 4-6 tackles in a game but never did anything that stood out after it was over. There were no big hits that fired up the defensive or caused turnovers, only occasionally did he make a play in the backfield of the opponent and his blitzing wasn't very effective. On the other hand he was usually where he was supposed to be on his assignments and in combination with Bradie James controlled the middle of the field well against the run. Both years it seemed to me that he was better early in the season but as the ga...

An Even Closer Look at Chad Henne
2008-05-01 06:15:00
You'll remember that a few days ago, we took a closer look at Chad Henne.  Well, now we will dig a little deeper into Chad Henne and the kind of player he was at Michigan (and might be here in Miami). Today I've enlisted the help of Sean Yullie.  Sean is the blogger over at SBN's Detroit Lions blog, Pride of Detroit, and also runs a Michigan Wolverines blog as well.  If you recall, we enlisted Sean's help last week to tell us a little bit more about Jake Long, which you can read here.  Below is what Sean tells us about Michigan QB and Dolphin draftee, Chad Henne: Chad Henne was thrown into the gauntlet from the very first game of his freshman season at Michigan.  Due to an injury to starting quarterback Matt Gutierrez (now with the Patriots) literally in the days leading up to the beginning of the season, Henne had to step in and start at QB as a true freshman, which is a rarity at Michigan.  No one knew a lot about Henne early on as he wasn't exp...

A Rivalry Begins: Jake Long vs Vernon Gholston
2008-04-30 18:00:00
It seems that there's a new rivalry brewing in the NFL.  And this rivalry comes straight out of college. Jake Long and Vernon Gholston battled once a year in college when their respective teams, Michigan and Ohio State, faced off in their yearly big game.  Now, with Long a Dolphin and Gholston a Jet, these two will play each other two times per year, beginning on opening day in Miami. Well it seems Jim Tressel is spouting off at the mouth , and Jake Long certainly won't be too happy to hear this: "You know, in all the highlights on Saturday, I never saw any of those plays where he carried Jake Long into the quarterback's lap," Tressel said in a telephone interview yesterday from Columbus. The one highlight played consistently was of Gholston beating Long for a sack - the only one Long gave up all season - but Tressel said that wasn't the only play in which Gholston bettered Long. There just wasn't a sack to show for the other ones. Carried Jake Long into the QB's l...
The Jason Taylor Saga: Enough is Enough
2008-04-30 06:15:00
Listen, I'll preface this by saying that I love and respect Jason Taylor .  He's done so much for this organization, giving his heart and soul to this franchise for 11 years.  He's truly an all-time great football player - and he's an even better person off the field. With all that said, I simply can't stand crap anymore.  I really can't.  I'm tired of reading about it and I'm tired of worrying about what might happen.  And the media is a big reason why this mess seems to be spiraling out of control.  Think about it.  Bill Parcells and Jason Taylor both have massive egos.  But if this whole saga was kept behind closed doors and the media didn't let it leak out, then this wouldn't be the issue it has grown to be.  But now we are in a situation where neither man wants to let his ego be damaged by "bending over backwards" for the other. However, now we get people in the media leaking out stories like this one : Two weeks ago, Taylo...

Quick Hits: Dolphins cut 2; Ginn off return duties?
2008-04-30 02:45:00
GINN BEING REPLACED AT KR? There's an interesting little piece of information buried deep in a Sun-Sentinel article about the recent signings of a couple of undrafted free agent: Hawaii WR Davone Bess and Georgia Southern QB Jayson Foster.  The quote from the paper says: Foster and Bess have been told they will compete for kick return roles, an indication the Dolphins are intent on lessening the workload of second-year receiver Ted Ginn Jr. Foster is an electrifying runner (see here ) who is being brought in as a wide receiver and return man.  I'm a little surprised to see Bess was told he'll also compete for kick return duties, as he isn't as fast.  But he is quick, reminding me of a Wes Welker kind of return man.  The good news here is that this new regime does seem to want to lessen Ginn's workload, allowing him to focus on being the team's #1 receiver.  I just wonder if we are losing some value in Ginn because of how dynamic of a return man he ca...

A Closer Look at Chad Henne
2008-04-29 06:15:00
This might be the most talked-about selection of Miami's entire draft, so let's dig a little deeper and talk about the kind of player Chad Henne is. First, here's what I know of Chad Henne.  I know that he's a tough SOB, playing through injuries (like separated shoulders) quite frequently.  I know that Henne does have a cannon for an arm.  Seriously, some of his "laser-like" throws are impressive to watch, though his arm isn't quite as strong compared to John Beck's (based on the radar gun test at the Combine).  So he certainly has the arm strength to make every single throw and his deep ball is sometimes considered a thing of beauty. I also know that he's a big, strong guy.  He won't need to add weight or anything to help his body hold up to the beating that the NFL could give a young quarterback.  And I also know that Henne is a workaholic much like John Beck is.  So one thing you are not going to have to worry about from our QBs is their...

Early Post-Draft Thoughts
2008-04-28 06:15:00
Well this was quite a weekend for all of us Dolphin fans.  There's a lot to get to and we will get to it all over the next few days and weeks.  Below are just my early thoughts about what the Dolphins did this past weekend. FINS SIGN UNDRAFTED WRThe Honolulu Advertiser reports that the Dolphins, who didn't draft a receiver in any of the 7 rounds of the draft, have signed Hawaii WR Davone Bess.  And I think this has the potential to be a very solid signing for the Dolphins. Bess, coming out as a junior, was a very productive wide receiver in Hawaii's wide open passing attack.  His 3 year career at Hawaii includes 293 receptions for 3,610 yards and 41 touchdowns.  But it's hard to base his potential on numbers when you consider the teams he played against and the offensive system he played in. However, when you watch this guy play, you see that he's got some serious potential.  At 5'9, 194, he doesn't have good height.  And he ran just a 4.6 4...

2008 NFL Draft: Day 2 Overflow Thread #2
2008-04-27 21:50:00
Fun day so far.  Here's a quick recap of Miami's day 2 picks so far: #66: Hampton DE Kendall Langford#110: Utah St. G Shawn Murphy#176: Toledo RB Jalen Parmele A little info about Parmele.  He measures in at 5'11, 224 lbs.  He has decent speed for his size, running a 4.47 40.  However, he reportedly plays slower than his timed speed.  But he's a tough, physical inside runner who can pick up those short yards.  Seems like a solid, "Parcells-esque" pick. I'm running out to do a favor for some people, so I won't be by the computer for the remaining picks.  Much more on all of this weekend's events in the coming days and weeks.  Should be a lot of fun breaking this thing down. **UPDATE 5:03pm** With the #195 pick, the Dolphins take UCONN guard Donald Thomas.  So that makes 2 second-day guards taken.  Thomas is 6'3, 303.  He's got good quickness for a guard, but seems like a bit of a project.  His technique needs work a...

2008 NFL Draft: Day 2 Overflow Thread
2008-04-27 18:47:00
So here's what has happened today: -Dolphins take Hampton DE Kendall Langford at #66. -Dolphins move up to take Utah St. guard Shawn Murphy.  NFL.com compares him to Justin Smiley.  He's an older prospect, though, as he was on a Morman mission.  NFL.com says about the pick: The Dolphins traded up to get Murphy. This is a good, solid pick at this point in the draft. He's versatile on the offensive line. Murphy is mature and has great size. In Miami, they are going to want to pound the ball and he is not only strong but tough, smart and can change direction. He could be in the league a long time. -Remaining picks in this draft as of right now:  #176, #195, #204, #245 We'll have much, much more on this weekend's events in the coming days and weeks. **UPDATE 1:46pm** Interesting little nugget by Ethan Skolnick in his blog : The Ronnie Brown question I can answer. He's in much better shape, from what I'm hearing, than he was last year at this time. And I hea...

2008-04-27 15:30:00
Day 2 After a fun, but exhausting day yesterday, we are back for day 2, which begins at 10 am EDT.  Still some very good players available and it sure would be good for the Dolphins, for once, to uncover a "hidden gem" here in the later rounds.  This is where great teams are made and solid depth is found. I won't go on and list all the players I would like to see taken, but here are a few I wouldn't mind Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland selecting here on day 2: -RBs - Kevin Smith, Jamaal Charles, Tashard Choice-WRs - Mario Manningham, Andre Caldwell, Earl Bennett, Early Doucet-OLs - Jeremy Zuttah, Carl Nicks, Roy Schuening, Anthony Collins, John Greco-DLs - Red Bryant, Pat Sims, Frank Okam-LBs - Beau Bell, Dan Connor, Cliff Avril, Tavares Gooden, Shawn Crable-DBs - Reggie Smith, Charles Godfrey, Justin King, DaJuan Morgan, Antwaun Molden, Josh Barrett, Tyvon Branch As you can see, some very good players are still on the board. So join us in the "live comments" below. ...

Day One Draft Nuggets
2008-04-27 08:46:00
What a crazy day Saturday turned out to be.  And after a few hours of getting out and not thinking about football, I think I can now better reflect on what the Dolphins did (and didn't do) on Saturday.  And I must say, I really like the direction this team is headed.  Onto a few quick nuggets: IRELAND'S PRESS BRIEFING The most intriguing issue of today, the decision to not trade Jason Taylor, is the first thing I want to point out.  About the trade rumors that circulated all day, Jeff Ireland said: “I was not aware of it. I was aware of it after the fact, but obviously strictly rumor. Didn’t get any calls, so there was no discussion [of trading Taylor]." Interesting, to say the least, especially when you consider the seemingly endless supply of rumors over the past 48 hours.  But hey, if they didn't get any offers (or at least any they liked), then I'm glad Jason Taylor is still a Dolphin.  No need to just "give him away" for poor valu...

2008 NFL Draft Overflow Thread #2
2008-04-27 01:41:00
This day keeps getting more and more interesting.  Quick recap: -Dolphins take Clemson DE Phillip Merling at #32. -Lorenzo Booker traded to Eagles for their 4th round pick. -Jason Taylor "might" be on his way to Tampa Bay in return for at least Tampa's 2nd rounder. Full draft thoughts on today's events and tomorrow's events to come all week next week. **UPDATE 8:11pm** The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that the Dolphins have indeed traded Jason Taylor to the Bucs.  However, it's not know what Miami gets in return. **UPDATE 8:36pm** It seems this report about a trade isn't accurate or, if it is, it's not for a 2nd round pick.  Meanwhile, the Dolphins have drafted Michigan QB Chad Henne with the 57th overall pick.  I guess you can never have too many QBs.  And competition at every position is a good thing.  John Beck and Josh McCown now have another competitor and it will make for a fun training camp. **UPDATE 9:10pm** Well it's been a fun day.  B...

2008 NFL Draft Overflow Thread

It's been an interesting draft so far.  Lots to talk about, and we haven't even had any Dolphins news yet.  So be sure to continue talking about it below in the "live-updating" comments. As for the Top 15 Challenge we had going, the final standings were: Finnatic - 13 points13FinsFan - 13 pointsYatilGinnJr - 10 pointsYorke Hunt - 9 pointsboss302 - 9 pointsNumber Seven - 9 pointsMatty I - 8 pointsNatalya - 8 points Congrats to "Finnatic" and "13FinsFan" for tying in 1st place. Things are going to be getting more interesting.  So be sure to get involved below! **UPDATE 6:57pm** First off, here's what we know.  The Dolphins have drafted Phillip Merling, out of Clemson, with their #32 pick.  Merling was thought to be a first round prospect, but fell after suffering from a "sports hernia," limiting his pre-draft workouts.  He did say, though, in a conference call that he could practice next week if he had to.  So his health shouldn't be a problem.&n...

2008 NFL Draft Open Thread
2008-04-26 17:30:00
AND IT'S FINALLY HERE! The 2008 NFL Draft is finally here.  After months of speculation and debate, the time for teams to take action is now.  And while the intrigue of the Dolphins' #1 overall pick has been killed thanks to the pre-draft signing of Jake Long by the Dolphins, there are still plenty of things to watch as this weekend unfolds. So what will I specifically be looking for on day one of the draft?  I'll be very interested in seeing if the Dolphins do draft a QB at any point on this first day.  I don't think they will.  And if they do indeed pass on a QB, does that mean this new regime is giving John Beck a vote of confidence?  Of course, I'll also be interested in seeing if this regime can indeed swing a deal for another 1st or 2nd round pick by shipping Jason Taylor out of Miami. Speaking of the Jason Taylor saga, Armando Salguero is at it again.  Apparently he has sources nobody else does, writing that he knows for a fact that Tay...

Dolphins acquire LB Ayodele, TE Fasano from Cowboys
2008-04-26 08:28:00
I'm a little late to the party with this one.  While I was out tonight, I received a surprising text message that read "Dolphins acquire Akin Ayodele and Anthony Fasano."  And to my delight, the text wasn't a joke. Various sources, including ESPN , the Palm Beach Post , and NFL.com are reporting that the Dolphins have indeed acquired LB Akin Ayodele and TE Anthony Fasano from the Cowboys in exchange for Miami's 4th round pick. Ayodele, who will be 29 in September, spent his first 4 seasons in Jacksonville.  He won the starting job midway through his rookie season and really excelled from there on out while in Jacksonville, averaging 87 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in his 4 years there.  He then went on to Dallas, where he didn't make as much of an impact as I thought he would.  But at 6'2, 250, Ayodele has the speed that Bill Parcells is known to covet from his middle linebackers.  He's a player I've always liked, dating back to ...

REPORTS: Dolphins have offered Jason Taylor to Redskins, Bucs
2008-04-26 01:35:00
I'm sure these rumors will continue from now until tomorrow night, but here's the latest. First, as originally pointed out by "Layuma" in this FanPost, the Washington Post reports that the Dolphins offered Jason Taylor to the Redskins in exchange for their 1st round pick, number 21 overall.  The report says that the Redskins are indeed shopping their pick, but the Redskins "don't see Taylor as a goof long-term fit with what they are trying to accomplish." Meanwhile, the St. Petersburg Times is reporting that the Dolphins and Bucs have been involved in talks regarding Jason Taylor : Here's the latest tidbit I've dug up through various channels: there appears to have been some discussion between the Dolphins and Bucs about a possible deal that would bring Jason Taylor to Tampa, probably for the Bucs' second-round pick. I've also been told that Taylor is not opposed to the idea because he has informed associates he would like to remain in Florida if traded. The article goe...
My Ideal Draft
2008-04-25 22:33:00
So here we are, now less than 24 hours away from the start of the 2008 NFL Draft .  The anticipation continues to build. And as it does, I wanted to just throw my 2 cents in and give everyone my ideal Dolphins draft (realistically speaking, of course).  "The Phinisher" did this very thing in his FanPost , and I encourage you all to do the same in the comments section of this post. I'll keep this short and sweet. #1 Overall Pick: Jake Long, OT, Michigan Obviously, since this is decided, there's no use talking about it.  But I did say all along I would be happy with either of the two Longs or Vernon Gholston.  So I'm quite satisfied with this decision for all the reasons we've discussed this week on this site. #32 Overall Pick:  Quentin Groves, DE/OLB, Auburn The heart issue that arose earlier this offseason is now in the past and shouldn't be a problem moving forward.  At 6'3, 259, he's got the size and speed (4.57 40) to be an ideal replacement fo...

Predict the Top 15
2008-04-25 18:00:00
Well, since we already know who the Dolphins are taking at #1, the early part of round 1 is not going to be as interesting as it might have been prior to Jake Long's signing.  So I thought it would be a good idea to try and make the first 15 picks of tomorrow's draft a little bit more entertaining by getting the community here involved in a little bit of competition. So here's the idea.  We're going to go head to head and see who can correctly predict more of the top 15 picks in round 1.  So below in the "comments" section, use the following format to submit your top 15 picks: 1. Dolphins - Jake Long2. Rams - Player X3. Falcons - Player Yetc.... You can also predict trades, which is why it's important to include both the team and the player when you make your picks.  The scoring system will be very simple.  You get 1 point for correctly predicting a player's draft position.  You can 1 more point for correctly predicting the team that will pick a p...

Potential Targets For Rounds 2 & 3
2008-04-25 13:00:00
We are now just one day away from the 2008 NFL Draft and, like many of you, I can’t wait to get this thing started.  In particular, I’m very excited to see what the Dolphins do with their 2 second rounders on Saturday.  Usually, I’d do a little mock draft and attempt to predict who the Dolphins might take.  Of course, some might say it’s easier this year to predict correctly because of the fact that we already know who Miami’s first pick will be. However, that’s not true.  This year is as hard as ever because of whom the Dolphins have running the show (Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland) and their very tight lips.  Also complicating things is all this Jason Taylor trade talk that is going on right now.  So because of that, I’m going to take a different approach.  Instead of trying to predict who they will take, I’ll instead lay out some positions and players who I feel the Dolphins might target between ro...
