The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #6 - New York Jets
2008-03-21 17:39:00
With the fifth pick of The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State. This was the closest vote yet, with Clady getting 30% of the vote and Glenn Dorsey getting 27%.  Vernon Gholston followed in 3rd with 12%. So the draft now looks like this so far: Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia (49%) St. Louis Rams - Jake Long, OT, Michigan (67%) Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB, BC (68%) Oakland Raiders - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas (47%) Kansas City Chiefs - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St. (30%) Up next is pick #6, which belongs to the NY Jets .  You can head over to NY Landing Strip if you want to get up to date insight on the Jets.  And below are the Jets' draft needs, according to NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Wide Receiver: After talking about it for a couple of years they finally "jettisoned" Justin McCareins so depth is needed. If he keeps complaining about his contract Laveranues Coles could be gone too. 2. Cornerback: Dar...

**Phinsider Exclusive: A Chat with Dave Hyde (Part 3)**
2008-03-21 06:04:00
Following the debate that was sparked about John Beck in the "comments" section of the first part of my chat with Dave Hyde , I decided to ask Dave one follow-up question about Beck. Below is my question and his response: Matty: I'm a known Beck supporter and think he will be a very good QB once they get a team around him.  What are your thoughts on Beck?  Do you think he has the skills to excel in the NFL?  Does he have the leadership and other intangibles that you look for in an NFL QB?  And do you think he'll be starting in week 1 of 2008? Dave: I spent a day with Beck in Utah last spring and couldn't help but walk away impressed by how he carries himself and what he stands for. Nothing has happened to change that. There will be no question about his work ethic and his desire to be great. So the heavyweight question people are asking is this: Can he be great? The answer: No one has any idea. The realistic question is whether you want him to be afforded t...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #5 - Kansas City Chiefs
2008-03-20 17:40:00
With the fourth pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft , the Oakland Raiders select Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas. McFadden won with 47% of the vote.  Vernon Gholston followed in second with 25%.  Glenn Dorsey came in third with 17%. So now the draft looks like this so far: Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia (49%) St. Louis Rams - Jake Long, OT, Michigan (67%) Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB, BC (68%) Oakland Raiders - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas (47%) Next up is the fifth pick, which belongs to the Kansas City Chiefs.  For all the Chiefs' news and insight you could want, head over to Arrowhead Pride.  Listed below are the Chiefs' draft needs, according to NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Offensive Line: What had been a team strength for many years has now become their greatest weakness. It's not easy to replace guys like Willie Roaf and Will Shields and they certainly proved that. 2. Cornerback: Ty Law was sent packing and Patrick Surtain is near the e...
**Phinsider Exclusive: A Chat with Dave Hyde (Part 2)**
2008-03-20 06:04:00
Yesterday I posted the first part of my chat with the Sun-Sentinel's Dave Hyde .   Below is the second part of that interview.  This time, Dave shares his opinions on free agency, the draft, and Jason Taylor's future in Miami. Matty: This new regime was really aggressive in free agency, but didn't go after the really big names that were out there.  What are your thoughts on what they did in free agency and who is the one player acquired in free agency that you think will make the greatest impact on this team? Dave: Again, I like what they've done with the understanding that free agency won't make this team a success. This regime saw an older roster where there were no players from the 1998-2005 drafts. Basically, they went out and stocked the roster with guys from those drafts. Average players. But that's OK. You need average players. Especially in free agency, where you always overpay, overpaying for second-tier players seems smarter than WAY overpaying, for a h...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #4 - Oakland Raiders
2008-03-19 17:36:00
With the third pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft , the Atlanta Falcons select Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College. Ryan received 68% of the total vote.  Glenn Dorsey was in second place, with 21%. So now the draft looks like this so far: Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia (49%) St. Louis Rams - Jake Long, OT, Michigan (67%) Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB, BC (68%) Up next, with the 4th pick, are the Oakland Raiders.  For all of your Raider needs, including news and insight, check out Silver and Black Pride.  Below are the Raiders' draft needs, according to NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Defensive Line: Depending on where the choose to play Tommy Kelly, who they grossly overpaid for in free agency, they will either need find a stud pass rusher at defensive end or defensive tackle. 2. Offensive Tackle: Either Kwame Harris or second year pro Mario Henderson will hold down the old fort at left tackle (they hope) but Cornell Green leaves much to be desi...

**Phinsider Exclusive: A Chat with Dave Hyde**
2008-03-19 06:04:00
Earlier this week, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Dave Hyde was nice enough to take some time out and talk Dolphins with me.  Dave covers all things South Florida sports for the Sun-Sentinel, including our beloved Dolphins. I've broken down the interview into two separate parts.  The first part, below, is about last year's Cam Cameron/Randy Mueller debacle and about the early impressions of the new regime in town. Tomorrow, I'll post part two, which is about free agency, the draft, and Jason Taylor.  So be sure to check back for that. Matty: First thing first; what are your final thoughts on the Randy Mueller/Cam Cameron era?  Were things really as dysfunctional as it appeared by the end of the season? Dave: Let's start here on Mueller and Cameron: They were left holding the bill previous years' sins. No draft picks on the team from 1998 to 2005? No quarterback and over-priced swings and misses for A.J. Feeley and Daunte Culpepper? So they stepped int...

Info on Matt Ryan's Pro-Day Workout
2008-03-18 23:18:00
Here's what I've been able to find about Matt Ryan's pro-day workout up in Chestnut Hill, MA. First of all, the Dolphins had two representatives at the workout.  They are Chris Grier, the team's director of college scouting, and David Lee, their QB coach. According to a Boston College official, Ryan threw 52 passes, completing 48 of them.  The associated press reports, though, that 3 of those incompletions were drops.  The other was an overthrow. It'll be impossible to get any quotes out of Dolphin officials, for obvious reasons.  But Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards, who was present at the workout, had the following to say about Matt's performance: "I thought he pressed a couple times, trying to throw the ball a little too hard. That's generally what happens with quarterbacks, when you get the media there. It used to be 10-15 years ago, the workouts, five people were there. Now, depending who you are, what school you're at, and where people slate you b...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #3 - Atlanta Falcons
2008-03-18 17:39:00
With the second pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft , the St. Louis Rams select Jake Long, OT, Michigan. Jake Long finished with 67% of the vote.  He was followed by Vernon Gholston (21%) and Glenn Dorsey (7%). So that makes the draft so far look like this: Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia (49%) St. Louis Rams - Jake Long, OT, Michigan (67%) Up next, with the 3rd pick, are the Atlanta Falcons.  Below are their needs, according to NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Quarterback: Neither Joey Harrington or Byron Leftwich were the long-term answer and even though Chris Redman played admirably late in the year this franchise needs a signal caller in the worst way. 2. Offensive Tackle: Wayne Gandy was sent packing and will need to be replaced at left tackle because it's highly unlikely that guys like Renardo Foster and Quinn Ojinnaka are starting material in the NFL. 3. Defensive Tackle: Rod Coleman was their one impact presence on the interior but he's gon...

The Value of Special Teams
2008-03-18 06:09:00
Many of Miami's offseason moves have been with the sole purpose of improving this team's special teams units. But what we haven't done yet is really look at just how important special teams are as well as talk about just how bad the Dolphins' special teams play was in 2007. So let's look at the value of good special teams play in terms of offensive production. Last season, the Dolphins were 29th in the NFL in kick return yards, averaging just 19.9 yards per kick return. On the other hand, Dolphins' opponents averaged 25.3 yards per kick return, which places the Dolphins 30th in the NFL. Now that looks bad, but it's hard to quantify just how bad. Consider this. The Football Outsiders tell us that the Dolphins average starting field position was at their own 27.67 yard line, which is the 2nd worst average starting field position in all of the NFL. The 2nd thing to consider is that the Dolphins were surprisingly effective in the red zone in 2007. They scored a touch...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #2 - St. Louis Rams
2008-03-17 17:37:00
With the first pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft , the Miami Dolphins have selected Chris Long, DE, Virginia. Long received 49% of the votes, with Jake Long in second place at 34%.  A distant third was Matt Ryan, with 7%. So up next is the #2 pick, belonging to the St. Louis Rams.  Below are their draft needs, according to NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Defensive End: Leonard Little will turn 34-years-old during the 2008 season and he is starting to wear down while James Hall was recently cut, leaving Victor Adeyanju as a starter on the other side. 2. Wide Receiver: Isaac Bruce, who was the last Ram around from the old Los Angeles days, was let go which means the depth is now extremely sketchy behind their starters Torry Holt & Drew Bennett. 3. Offensive Line: Two years in a row now Orlando Pace has gone down with season-ending injuries, Alex Barron is best suited for the right side and there are still a ton of question marks on the interior. Weekend Roundup
2008-03-17 06:23:00
Here's what you may have missed this weekend while you were out and about (or while you were paying close attention to the NCAA conference tournaments and the selection show): RONNIE BROWN REHAB NEWS The best news any Dolphin fan could have heard about anything recently is the news that Ronnie Brown's agent, Todd France, supplied us with over the weekend: "[Ronnie Brown] started running a while ago, is lifting weights, is in great spirits and on track. We don't see any obstacles in our way. ... He's got the drive to be ready. Many have questioned why the Dolphins simply let Jesse Chatman walk away and why Miami hasn't gone after any other running backs.  Well I think now we have a clue.  But, really, I don't think anyone will be really surprised to hear about Ronnie's recovery.  He's got a great work ethic and is young enough to effectively bounce back from this injury.  However, I would not push him and force him onto the field before he is ready. &n...

Video Time: Vernon Gholston
2008-03-15 08:21:00
It's Saturday, meaning it's video time! Today I got two videos for you of Vernon Gholston. Gholston is becoming very hyped and is believed to be on Miami's radar as a potential #1 overall pick. Below are the videos. Notice, though, how just about every time Gholston gets to the quarterback, he's rushing from the right side, not to the left, meaning he isn't going up against the team's best offensive lineman (the left tackle). Either way, though, he does show off that great speed and strength that we've all heard about. So that's all for now. Unless any news breaks over the weekend, I'll see you back here on Sunday night/Monday morning. Also, be sure to cast your vote in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, if you haven't done so already.

Dolphins sign Nathan Jones
2008-03-15 00:58:00
The Dolphins have added another former Cowboy to the mix, according to the team's website, signing defensive back Nathan Jones to a two year deal: The Miami Dolphins today signed four-year veteran cornerback Nathan Jones, to a two-year contract as an unrestricted free agent from the Dallas Cowboys. The 25-year-old Jones was a seventh-round draft choice of Dallas in 2004. In his four seasons with the Cowboys, he played in 51 regular season games, including one start. He collected 58 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles on defense. He also stood out on special teams, where he totaled 26 tackles. Another good special teams player, Jones will likely provide depth to the secondary as a dime back or 5th corner.

The Case Against Matt Ryan
2008-03-14 06:05:00
Alright, I guess it's time for me to lay it all out on the line.  So that's what I'm going to do.  I'm here today to tell you all (like you really care, but I'm going to do it anyway) that I am completely against the idea of the Dolphins taking Matt Ryan with the #1 overall pick.  I'm sure many of you have assumed this based on some of the things we've talked about recently, but now I will go on record and say that I hope the Dolphins do not take Matt Ryan first overall. So, why am I against Matt Ryan?  Well, despite what some think, it's not because I'm 100% sold on John Beck.  After all, how could anyone be sold on him after last season?  My feelings on Beck are that I think there's more of a chance he becomes a very good quarterback in this league than there is of him turning into a total bust.  But that's not what this is about. What this is about is me not being sold on Matt Ryan enough to take him #1 overall and pay him the $35+ ...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #1 - Miami Dolphins
2008-03-13 22:35:00
Well I posed the question to everyone in the community and it seems as though there is enough interest in doing a community mock draft.  So here's how it will work.  Every weekday, I will post a thread on the main page about whichever team is up to pick.  I'll recap the picks up to this point and then post a scouting report or two from a draft website about what that team's needs happen to be.  Then I'll attach a poll which asks you all who you think the pick will be.  You'll then have to the deadline I give you to vote on the pick.  And we'll continue on until we are done with the first round, which will likely be the day before the NFL Draft .  We'll then see how accurate we have been. So I figured I'd get this thing rolling now.  First up, the Miami Dolphins .   Seeing as how this is a Dolphins website so most (if not all) visitors are Dolphin fans, I don't think I really need to post our draft needs.   This is also the onl...

Mock Drafts Around the Net
2008-03-13 06:04:00
For the first time since free agency began, let's now go around the internet and see who the various mock drafts have the Dolphins taking with the #1 overall pick: -Mel Kiper: Chris Long, DE, Virginia -NFL Draft Countdown: Chris Long, DE, Virginia Make no mistake about it the Dolphins desperately want out of this #1 pick and will do everything they can to trade down but the problem is there might not be much of a market. Their best chance at making a deal would be if Atlanta fell in love with Matt Ryan, which is probably why they are putting it out there that they are looking at the B.C. quarterback as well. Ultimately this pick will come down to Chris Long, Jake Long, Vernon Gholston, Matt Ryan and Sedrick Ellis and I think Howie's boy would get the nod. Not only is Long a perfect fit for Miami's 3-4 scheme but he also possesses the type of intensity and non-stop motor that Bill Parcells covets. -Footballs Future: Jake Long, OT, Michigan Miami needs help in a lot of places. Long...

Talking Gholston
2008-03-12 06:19:00
There has been a ton of talk recently about the rising stock of Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston, especially among Dolphin fans.  He had a terrific workout at the Scouting Combine, which made his stock soar even more.  And it's gotten to the point where some Dolphin fans are calling for Gholston to be Miami's #1 overall pick. This talk has increased even more amongst Dolphin fans because of the following report by Adam Schefter: As much as Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston wowed scouts during his personal workout Friday, he did the same during private individual workouts Monday for the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets. Miami, which owns the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft, sent its defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni to Columbus to personally work out Gholston on Monday morning. Miami is scheduled to pick first overall. The night before the workout, the Dolphins and St. Louis Rams, who have the second pick, each took Gholston to dinner. Gholston...

Dolphins sign kicker Rayner
2008-03-11 23:12:00
Per the Sun-Sentinel: The Dolphins continue their work to improve the special teams, signing kicker Dave Rayner to a one-year contract on Tuesday according to his agent. Rayner, a former Michigan State standout who was selected by the Colts in the sixth-round of the 2005 draft, spent a portion of last season with the San Diego Chargers. Rayner's strength is kickoffs, which also happens to be Jay Feely's weakness.  However, when all is said and done, I'd be shocked if Feely wasn't our kicker.  He's just too reliable on field goals to let go, hitting on 21 of 23 last year. If nothing else, though, this puts every Dolphins player on notice.  Nobody's job can be considered safe.

Dolphins sign Keith Davis
2008-03-11 17:41:00
Well the Dolphins have finally begun their secondary improvements, reaching a deal with Keith Davis , according to the Sun-Sentinel: The Miami Dolphins continued raiding Dallas Cowboys personnel on Tuesday by agreeing to terms with free agent safety Keith Davis, according to a source. Davis, 29, will not only shore up a thin secondary and compete with recently re-signed strong safety Yeremiah Bell, Renaldo Hill and Jason Allen for a starting spot, but he will also bolster the special teams coverage units, a major weakness last season. Hill is still recovering from season-ending knee surgery. Davis has 21 games of starting experience from Dallas. However, he's a far better run supporter than coverage safety, which is why Dallas eventually decided to go a different route next to Roy Williams (who can't cover anyone). He is a terrific special teams player, though, and will surely excel in that role. He'll be interesting to watch, though, as he battles the likes of Yeremiah ...

Beware careful of what you read
2008-03-11 06:21:00
This is the time of year when NFL teams pull out their best poker face in hopes of not showing their hands in regards to the NFL Draft.  You'll hear words like "smokescreen" and "misinformation" thrown around a lot when talking about the upcoming draft.  And what this means is that, as fans, you need to take everything you see, hear, and read with a grain of salt. There's an old saying that "actions speak louder than words."  And that's very true when you're talking about professional football.  It's not what you say but rather how you perform out on the field.  Well that saying also applies to teams and their smokescreens as well.  Not only will teams purposely leak information to cover up what their real plans are; they'll also make sure it's known that they were at a prospect's workout. Why do I bring this up?  There was an interesting little blurb in Sunday's Miami Herald about the Dolphins and Matt Ryan, brought to my attention than...

Here's what you may have missed while you were out and about this weekend: SMILEY SPEAKS OUT New Dolphins guard Justin Smiley was on 790 The Ticket and, among other things, had this to say about his coming to Miami: "First of all, Alan Faneca's ancient. The guy is about 10 damn years older than me. Anyone can pull some game film up. Go watch all my game film. That'll do the talking." "Parcells didn't sign Faneca. They had the cap room to do it and didn't want to do it. There must be some good things that they saw in me. I want to let my play do the talking. I'm so excited to get down there ... and get this thing turned around." Nice!  Sure, some might say that Smiley is running his mouth a bit too much, especially in regards to Faneca, who is an all-pro guard.  But I simply love this.  I really do.  And it's for two reasons.  First, Smiley is a guy who wants to be in Miami.  He wants to be a part of turning around a 1-15 team.  That speaks v...

Video Time!
2008-03-08 06:43:00
It's Saturday, which means it's time for a video. At the risk of people saying I have a "man-crush" on John Beck, below is a video of John's final performance of the 2007 season against the Bengals. Notice how much better he looks compared to his outings against the Jets and Bills. Could it be it's because he had time to throw? Very possible. Of course, the Bengals were also sitting back with a big lead, but nonetheless, it's fun to see how accurate John is when he has time to get his feet. Two throws in particular I want to highlight. The first is at about 1:15 of the video on a 3rd and 4 play. John drops back, plants his feet, and throws a strong and accurate pass to Greg Camarillo running the skinny post to gain about 13. The other is at 1:42 of the video. Beck throws a beautiful pass to Derek Hagan, who is open down the seam in between 3 or 4 Bengal defenders. Again, John has time to drop back, set his feet, and deliver a pass with just the right amount of spee...

Dolphins host William Joseph
2008-03-07 23:46:00
According to the team's official website, the Dolphins today hosted DT William Joseph : A five-year NFL veteran, Joseph (born September 3, 1979, in Miami, Fla.) was a first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 2003. He played in 55 games in his five years with the Giants and recorded 72 tackles, including seven sacks. Joseph played in all 47 games during his four years at the University of Miami (Fla.) and was an All-Big East selection as a senior. Some of you may remember him from his days at The U.  At 6'5, 308, Joseph would be an ideal fit to play the defensive end spot in a 3-4 and then shift to the inside when the team goes with 4 down lineman.  Joseph, though, did miss all of the 2007 season with a back injury. Joseph, as the quote says, is a former first round pick.  And at only 28 years old, he could still have plenty of upside.  If nothing else, he'd provide depth for the defensive line.

RUMOR: Jason Taylor to be traded to Jaguars?
2008-03-06 06:08:00
Update [2008-3-6 0:8:3 by Matty I]: Some people have e-mailed me asking about the cap implications of trading Taylor . From what I can find, it seems as though Taylor is owed a prorated bonus of $2.02 million in both 2008 and 2009. So the Dolphins would take a $4.04 million cap hit by trading him. But considering his salary for 2008 is $7.5 million with a $500,000 bonus due, Miami would still be clearing space by trading him. And if you're looking for more on this potential trade, check out Chris's latest post over at Big Cat Country. Also note, I've reset the timestamp of this article to keep it as the first post. It was originally posted at 8:41 pm est. [end update] And this Jason Taylor saga continues. Yesterday, Taylor told ESPN's Kenny Mayne the following: "I have no idea where that [story] started, how it started. People are looking for stories but I'm the wrong person to ask because Bill and [Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland] call the shots there and neither have spoke...

2008-03-06 06:05:00
I've received a bit more e-mails recently than I usually do, so I wanted to start knocking some of them out now.  Below are two that I've received from readers: Is there any comparison for John Beck to Tony Romo? I'm one of those people who hate comparing players to each other because every player has different strengths and weaknesses.  However, if you twist my arm, I'd say that there are some similarities between Romo and Beck.  It starts with their build.  Both players are 6'2.  Tony weighs about 12 or so pounds more than John, but John has reportedly been asked to bulk up slightly this offseason.  So they'll likely look similar in stature next season.  Both also made their NFL debuts at the age of 26.  A major difference, though, is that Romo already had been in the league for 2 years and had two years to get to digest the offense while Beck was obviously a rookie. Their play is also similar, though.  They can both move around t...

John Beck vs Josh McCown
2008-03-05 06:03:00
What I wanted to do was to just take a look back at Josh McCown's 2007 season in Oakland. But I figured I needed to provide some kind of baseline to measure his performance. That's why John Beck 's numbers are also included. So the idea here is to get to know Josh McCown a little better. Yes, we all know it's believed McCown will not be starting, per Chris Mortensen's report a few days ago that McCown was brought in to be the #2 quarterback. But we still need to get to know him, right? McCown, who will be 29 by the time the regular season rolls around, is 2 years older than Beck and has 5 more seasons under his belt than John does. As far as physical tools go, McCown has them am except for accuracy. He's got a big-time arm and can make all the throws an NFL quarterback has to. But there's a reason why he's never really put together a solid season in the NFL. And like I said, accuracy is a problem. So is his decision making. But before we get into his accuracy...

JASON TAYLOR STILL TO BE TRADED? By now I'm sure you've all heard about the he said, he said saga regarding Jason Taylor's future in Miami. The latest was reported by Chris Mortensen, who said that Bill Parcells told him Taylor will be back in Miami in 2008 (unless he retired). Well, apparently, not everyone is buying this. One of those people is Greg Stoda: The cold truth - and there's precious little of any other kind in the NFL - is that Taylor doesn't fit Miami czar Bill Parcells' restructuring model. Taylor will be a 34-year-old defensive end next September, which makes him too old; he'll carry a $7.5 million salary, which makes him too expensive. He also is still very good, which makes him more valuable to the Dolphins in trade (For a first-rounder? Multiples in lower rounds?) than he would be in person on a team that's going to be somewhere around 4-12 with or without him. Parcells denied an Internet report that the Dolphins want to trade Taylor before next...
Calvin Pace signs with Jets
2008-03-03 21:18:00
ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports that the Jets have signed Calvin Pace to a 6 year, $42 million deal. The deal reportedly includes a ridiculous $22 million in guaranteed money. For that much money, I'm very thankful the Dolphins did not sign this guy. Sure, he's had 1 very solid season in his only season as a 3-4 OLB. But that's truly ridiculous money. I'm shocked he got that much. So where do the Dolphins go from here? For one thing, I think this just about seals Jason Taylor's fate. Barring any shocking move by Miami or an insane trade offer from another team, you have to assume Taylor returns to Miami in 2008. I would also expect the Dolphins to sign Darryl Blackstock to a deal soon to provide depth at the OLB position. This also has to mean that Chris Long is back in contention as a possibility with the #1 pick overall. Personally, I'm just glad this is all over. Now Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland can move on and look to invest the money they were goin...

Calvin Pace Monday Update

Here's the latest on "Calvin Pace Watch 2008," courtesy of Armando Salguero: He is still searching, hoping, waiting for that magic $20 million guaranteed money figure from either the Jets or Dolphins and apparently NEITHER team is there yet...Because the money isn't quite where Pace hoped yet, his agent is trying to play one team against the other and including the possibility of adding another team in the mix: The Cincinnati Bengals. But don't worry about the Bengals because they don't traditionally overpay. Pace is also said to be mulling lifestyle issues. He loved South Florida's weather and was impressed when he met Bill Parcells. He's a Detroit native but lives in Atlanta so he also likes the idea of being closer to home. Man, how much longer does this have to be dragged out?  After Lance Briggs signed for just $6 million per year and just $12 million in guaranteed money over those 6 years, Calvin needs to realize that no team is going to offer him that $20 million i...
