From the Washington Capitals press release: ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced today that Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin is one of three finalists for the Lester B. Pearson Award, which is presented annually to the “most outstanding player” in the NHL as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA. Ovechkin joins Calgary’s Jarome Iginla and Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin as the three finalists. Members of the NHLPA submitted ballots for the Pearson Award at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters announced as finalists.
