The 1987 Cricket World Cup was held in India and Pakistan. The games were reduced from 60 to 50 overs per innings, the current standard, because of the shorter daylight hours in the subcontinent as compared to England. Australia won the championship by defeating England by 7 runs, the closest margin ever in World Cup final history.The 1992 Cricket World Cup held by Australia and New Zealand introduced many changes to the game such as coloured clothing, white balls, day/night matches and an alteration to the fielding restrictions. The South African cricket team participated in the event following the end of the international sports boycott. Several hosts of Cwc 2007 will be granting tax waivers on hotel accommodation for certain tournament-related personnel.The number of Host Venues which have exempted accredited media from hotel tax during the tournament, under a programme called Operation Media Welcome; the others being Antigua & Barbuda, Grenada, Jamaica and Saint Lucia.“The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture has informed (the LOC) that there will be no problem obtaining a tax waiver (for these persons),” Versailles stated in correspondence to ICC CWC 2007 Managing Director & CEO, Chris Dehring.It’s great to see another country come on board with the tax waiver on hotel accommodation. In keeping with the new ICC Anti-Racism Code – unanimously approved by the international body last November – tournament organisers will be working in conjunction with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), which is an ICC Full Member and Host of the Event, to implement the Code in accordance with ICC guidelines.CWC’s Event Management Department (EMD), along with the nine Local Organising Committees (LOCs), will take the lead in Match-Day implementation; putting in place various policies and measures to highlight the Code.“A guide has been provided by ICC for successful implementation of the Code and we propose to follow that.
