Martin O'Neill: Utterly committed to Aston Villa Football Club
2007-03-28 23:24:00
Though Steve McClaren has found himself under mounting pressure from the press and England fans alike, Mart in O'Neil l has stopped any speculation of him being considered to replace McClaren in it's tracks by insisting: "I'm absolutely and utterly committed to Aston Villa Football Club ."O'Neill went on to explain that Randy Lerner is as committed to Aston Villa as he is. "I'd like to try to win some football games. I want to win more games than we have done.""I have total focus here on trying to win some games. It doesn't matter if we're sitting 13th in the league or fourth in the league, I'm absolutely committed here."even though i've never doubted this, it's still nice to hear.Aston Villa Lottery syndicate http://www.VillaLotto.com or villalotto.blogspot.com
can aston villa beat everton?
2007-03-26 23:24:00
1 week to go until Vill aplay again and can we beat them? Aston Villa should be more than capable of beating teams such as Ever ton , but having had such a long time since we beat anyone, coul di tplay on the minds of the players and manager?I guess that they would say not. Everything that we hear out of Villa Park is about belief and the buzz that's going around (this is something that i completely believe in by the way!). BUT, we need some wins, and a 3 points against Everton next monday would be a fantastic way to start our last set of games before the end of the season.I am sad to say that yet again here we are towards the end of another season, already planning for next year having conceded that we will amount to very little this season. The foundation is there for Aston Villa. The owner and chairman (Randy Lerner) is in place to invest. The Manager (Martin O'Neill) is in place to lead us. These 2 appear to have a good relationship and know what each others responsibilities are....

Gabby, Aston Villa, & England.
2007-03-26 14:33:00
Gabby Agbonlahor is about to sign a new deal at Aston Villa , and though he is unsure of the exact terms or length of contract, Gabby has said that Villa is where he wants to be.Gabby has also made his decision on his international career, choosing to fight for an England place and not opt to join Nigeria. Gabby had said that he would make no decision until speaking with his father on the matter, and after playing for England at the New Wembley at the weekend, I guess that conversation has happened!."England is the team I want to play for. When you play at somewhere like this, it helps you make a decision. It means a lot to play at the new Wembley."Gabby was one of 4 Aston Villa players to be involved, which looks good for Villa and our future. let's hope the claret and blue boys are returning to wmebley again soon with the rest of the villa team!A new Villa deal, a decision to play for Enlgland and Gabby's first full season where he has played every Aston Villa game for Martin O'...

England a few steps back
2007-03-25 03:04:00
I always hated and never understood the way the press hounded princes Diana. a tragic and unfortunate mess to what was once something so beautiful. myself, like all the british loved lady diana and will never understand why the press reported not on what we wanted to read about, but on what the press chose to create. It did not sell papers, they just created their own virtual world where the press believed they were doing well selling papers on the back of something that the British nation loved so dearly.I would not ever wish to compare such a wonderful woman as Lady Diana with a game liek football, but the way the british press handles the two is compaible. Britain loves football, and Britain loved Lady Diana. and so the British press saw this as a way to generate paper sales.Me? i could not give a toss what the press say. The press generated a culture and situation that contributed to the untimely death of Princess Diana. EVERY British person would have been happy for Lady Diana ...

2007-03-25 01:50:00
It's not been the greatest of days for English football. we've not exactly lost but, for a footballing nation we have not shown our potential again.today was a possible day for Aston Villa players to shine, but, due to the management decisions we were not allowed to.Gareth Barry didn't start, and was not used as a sub in the crap game against Israel. McClaren had an opportunity to bring Barry on in the second half but decided to use Downing instead - I'm sorry but Downing though a capable player, he is not anywhere near as good as Barry.England were poor and Barry did not play. Gareth Barry deserves a place and McClaren is somewhat lacking compared to Sven.I always liked sven goran eriksson, and as in the Lady Dianna crap that went on a few years ago, was discusted with the constant hounding by the press. It is almost as if the press try to create their own soap of real life rather than report what is happening in the real world.Svan was good. a damn fine man and lead for englan...

Reo-Coker told TheFA.com: "I’ve never played there before, it would mean a great deal to play at the new Wembley, it’ll be one of the greatest stadiums in the world. Gareth Barry and England
2007-03-23 14:14:00
England take on Israel in Tel Aviv tomorrow and there is much speculation on whether Gareth Barr y will play or not. I think that it is crazy if Barry doesnt play and i believe that England would be a much stronger team with him in the starting line up. Gareth Barry has the experience and ability to be a hit with England. A natural left sided player with quality of skill and a massively impressive pass.Gareth Barry has been the best player at Aston Villa all season, and with him on the left and playing the way he does for Aston Villa, any England forward would have no end of balls whipped into the box from the left side of the field.come on McClaren, play him, you need a result, and with Barry in the side you are much more likely to get it. International teams may not know too much about Barry at Aston Villa, and this could give them one hell of a shock.Barry to score? now that would make you sit up and think.Aston Villa Lottery syndicate http://www.VillaLotto.com or villalotto.blogs...

Jlloyd Samuel to Leave Aston Villa
2007-03-23 00:41:00
Aston Villa and England defender Jlloyd Samuel admits he may have to leave the Aston Villa to get his career back on track.Samuel is out of contract at the end of the season and has not started a game for since August. Wilfred Bouma has been excellent in recent games and is rightly preferred at left back. Jlooyed Samuel was called into Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England squad in March 2004 for the friendly with Sweden after impressing at fullback under then Aston Villa manager David O’Leary. It is true that a few seasons ago Samuel was on fire. he was one of the few that seemed to excel in a period that did not seem to be going well for Villa. He said: "There was a lot of interest in January and I could have gone places, but I didn't choose to do that because I wanted to see what would happen at Villa - nothing has changed, though, so I have to change things myself. "I have been here 10 years and out of those I would say I have had eight good years, but recently I have not had as goo...

Aston Villa, 8 games to go
2007-03-22 14:15:00
Martin O'Neill is telling us that things don't happen over night and as Aston Villa Fans we know this better than most. The beginning of the season brought with it such hope and potential while Martin O'Neill told us continually to relax and take a step back. Silverware and League glory was not going to be gained instantly at Villa Park, or infact any time soon. We're waiting on Stiliyan Petrov rediscovering his form of his first few games for Aston Villa. We're hoping Ashley Young can settle in and gain a bit of confidence working alongside John Carew. We're hoping that the team can come into a run of form, score a few goals and above all else, win a football game!A few wins is all we need to lift the team and put us back on track to a respectable league position at the end of the season. I've said it before and I truely believe that April could be a bumper month for Villa. Every game is winnable, and with 18 points up for grabs, Villa should be going all out for wins. With 6 ...

Ashley Young - doubters? what doubters?
2007-03-20 14:52:00
Ashley Young is a developing young player with great potential and good footballing skills. Aston Villa bought him from Watford for exactly these reasons. Young was acquired as a future star of aston villa and not an answer to some of Villa's existing problems.A number of sources are talking about the doubters amongst Villa supporters for the siging of Ashley Young at such a high price without extensive proven ability. Ashley Young will develop over the coming seasons under the guidance of Martin O'Neill and the support of players like Gareth Barry and John Carew. He will become part of the future of the Claret and Blue revival.John Carew was bought in to give Villa strength in attacking positions and start getting the much needed Goals. Gabby Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Luke Moore, etc will support Carew for the remainder of the season until Villa can again delve into the transfew market. There is already much speculation into who Aston Villa will sign next. but this bloag is about...

Martin O'Neill is confident that this can be sorted quickly, and has complemented Gabby on his contribution this season. For the love of Aston Villa, please conclude these negotiations quickly!Gabriel Agbonlahor is young and talented. He is going to be amazing in the future. Aston Villa need to impress on him that the Claret and Blue of Villa Park is again heading for greatness. With the addition of John Carew and Ashley Young at a difficult time of the year, i think we are beginning to show our appetite for success. Aston Villa 0-0 Liverpool
2007-03-19 18:06:00
Aston Villa Picked up a point with a 0-0 draw against Live rpool at home yesterday. I've now watched the game twice and liked a number of things about how Villa went about their business.some of the none Aston Villa or Liver pool fans in the pub yesterday were saying it was a boring match. I think that both managers believed that Aston Villa and Liverpool could have played better, And Liverpool are bound to be rather disappointed with a draw after Arsenal came to Villa park only wednesday and took all 3 points. But, a point against Liverpool is a good point and just another tiny step closer to safety this season.I liked the football played by a lot of the Villa team. I was particularly impressed by John Carew, and the link up between Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor. We're still in 13th place and we're on 34 points. We've got Everton at home next on Monday 2nd April. this is followed by Blackburn (away on the 7th), Wigan Athletic (home on the 9th), Middlesborough (away on the 14th...

Aston Villa: the run down
2007-03-13 23:31:00
We face Arsenal tomorrow night, who have been knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League in the last few weeks, along with a Carling Cup final defeat to Chelsea.Thierry Henry along with a list of other players are either injured or suspended. This all means nothing, as Arsenal have both the desire and the players to fight on, and Villa will have a real game on their hands against a tough opponent. It has been 5 and a half weeks since Aston Villa last played on home soil, and the next 3 games all being at home could be real crackers.Shaun Maloney is out with a virus, Chris Sutton is still suffering with Blurred vision. Martin Laursen could be back in the squad for this Sundays game against Liverpool, and Martin O'Neill has said that he has not received any approach from West Bromwich Albion for the loan of Juan Pablo Angel - which has been rumoured in a number of media sources. We're getting there according to Martin O'Neill. We now have 10 games left to get a few points and sta...

Aston Villa by my mate the bluenose!
2007-03-13 13:46:00
It just so happens that my best mate is a bluenose! That’s right a supporter of Birmingham City Football Club. I can hardly believe it myself sometimes, but hey, we’ve been good mates since we were teenagers. I was Best Man at his wedding and I’m god father to his daughter. He at the same time was an usher at my wedding and is god father to my son. So I guess you can see that we’re pretty good mates. We were stood in the pub last week watching the Liverpool v Barcelona game and there was plenty of banter and general football chat going around. As the end of season starts to loom we got onto the “going up” or “going down” conversation. As things are looking, it is very likely that the Premiership will have a couple more clubs from the midlands in the mix next season. No matter who comes up, I do think this is a good thing for the premier league and a good thing for the midlands.Anyway, my mate the bluenose, turned to me and suggested that Martin O’Neill (as well as al...

Moore to come
2007-03-13 12:12:00
Luke Moore has not played for Aston Villa since september when he dislocated his shoulder in the game against Chelsea.Moore has however scored 5 goals for the reserves in recent weeks and is pushing for a first team come back.Martin O'Neill has said: "you can't discount his goalscoring efforts for the reserves and some goals have been very good. So he's getting there. Now it's just a case of breaking into the team."Martin O'Neill has indicated that Luke Moore has had not issues with the shoulder, and the only factor that still remains is his match fitness. O'Neill went on to explain how the team has more strength now and it is up to Luke Moore to force his way back in.I think that a player like Luke could potentially play very well with John Carew up front, and the pairing could be a right handful for any opposition.Aston Villa Lottery syndicate http://www.VillaLotto.com or villalotto.blogspot.com

2007-2008season for aston villa
2007-03-13 01:15:00
It's been a good weekend for sport and due to the luck of quite a bit of time at home right now i was able to catch a number of games on TV during Saturday and Sunday.Manchester United & Middlesbrough drew 2-2, and Chelsea & Spurs drew 3-3. Being a Villa Supporter I really didn't care which of these teams (if any) won or lost, but i did enjoy watching the games very much (especially the game between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur).last week it was the Champions League games, and again, I loved watching the TV. Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United are through, Arsenal are out.it's been such a good week for sport and for football (soccer for those who don't know how to spell it right!)Probably due to our crazy 3 week break that we've endured recently, but I have wondered when Aston Villa will again be involed in such matches. With all the potential, all the hype, and all the faith and belief i do think that in the 2007-2008 season Villa need to sustain a prolonged cup run and a p...

John Carew on Martin O'Neill

"The manager is a great manager. He takes care of the players and is really dedicated, as everybody knows. So I'm happy to have a manager like that, who really loves football and is very hungry to win.The group is fantastic and Villa take good care of new players, so I'm very happy to be here as part of the team."I do like talk like this from such a player like Care w. He has played in some great teams, at the highest level, and all over Europe, and for him to have compliments like this for Aston Villa and Mart n O'Neil l, it can only help our cause when trying to attract more top quality players during the summer.Aston Villa Lottery syndicate http://www.VillaLotto.com or villalotto.blogspot.com

Aston Villa's John Carew
2007-03-13 00:04:00
John Care w has been good so far and I think he has much more to give and much more to prove at Aston Villa . He has scored 2 good goals in his first 4 games for the Villa, and he is still progressing back towards full match fitness.Carew and the team are up against Arsenal on wednesday night, and even though Arsenal are missing some key players, it is far from an easy match. We've not beaten Arsenal since 1998, so could this game be our chance? we played them way back at the start of the season and were the first team to face them at the emirates stadium. Olof Mellberg got our goal that day and an away draw against the Gunners on their home turf in Martin O'Neill's first game in charge of Aston Villa.Wednesday night will be a different game and a different approach from both teams. We have a team that have a few new faces and hopfully we will begin to gel, get some goals, and start to progress up the table.John Carew had the following comments: "I am enjoying the Premiership. Aston Villa home advantage? next 3 at Villa Park.
2007-03-11 13:33:00
If you speak to any Aston Villa Fan i think all will agree that we were never going to set the world alight this season. A few may have joked that we would be up amongst the top teams in the premier league and pushing for a place in Europe, but i think every Villa fan would deep down admit that this was going to be a tough year.Change takes time, and though some things can appear to happen quickly, the underlying culture and nature of something takes time to alter. After such a long wait, Doug Ellis and David O'Leary moved on in what seemed like a very short time. Suddenly Villa had a new chairman and a new Manager. With the arrival of Randy Lerner and the appointment of Martin O'Neill, every villan could again smile at the prospect and potential of our beloved Aston Villa. How many times have we heard this season from the players about the changing of atmosphere in the dressing room and the buzz that now fills the halls at Villa Park .Doug Ellis and David O'Leary are gone but the ...

"looking forward to this summer, i'm sure they'll be a few changes in personnel. Then hopefully, we can move on into the top half and start challenging. According to the Sun newspaper, Tony Mowbray is looking to take Juan Pablo Angel and Liam Ridgewell on loan for the rest of the season.Angel, our 9.5 Million striker has not even been on the bench in recent games, and could be put to use by the Albion to aid in their push for promotion.Tony Mowbray is reported to have made a "personal check" for our columbian international during the reserves game against West Ham on Tuesday.A loan move could be good for Angel, and may aid in the recovery of his confidence. It may also give him a bit of a shake up working with other players and in a different setup. knowing what Juan Pablo is capable of, i wouldnt be surprised if he went to West Brom on loan and started scoring at will! I do think Angel will want to stay at Villa and fight for his place in the team, but we wait and see on this one also!Aston Villa Lottery syndicate http://www.VillaLotto.com or villalotto.blogspot.com
