iPhone: Fitness Device?
2007-04-05 18:19:00 Ok. Everyone already knows that Apple has announced the iPhone and it's got a lot of people excited... including the people at LIFT (mainly me!). Why? Well, among its other uses, it's a powerful fitness device. For instance, you can use the iPhone to: 1. Download your workouts (podfitness, iTrain, Cardio Coach, etc.) 2. Talk to your motivators (traineo) 3. View medical sites and podcasts (webMD) 4. Dial 911 (or call your mother) Sure, you could always do this before on a separate iPod, cell phone, and laptop; but convergence is key. After it's release, I expect people to be more fit! I guess that's going a little too far, but there's no denying that it's always easier to stay on track with a gadget like this right in your pocket! The only hard part will be figuring out whether to workout at home or at the gym. But at least it?ll be your call. More About: Fitness , Iphone , Device , Ness
Sneaker Shock
2007-04-05 14:27:00 NBA star challenges the industry with a $15 sneaker. Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury skipped the typical endorsement deals and teamed up with retailer Steve & Barry's to promote his "Starbury" basketball sneakers. What makes them so special isn't as much the design or even the name attached to the shoe, but Marbury's idea to sell them for $14.98. And far from just a product endorsement, Marbury is putting his money where his feet are. In addition to waiving endorsement fees and only receiving a percentage of actual sales, Marbury has also worn the shoes on the court since the start of the 2006 NBA season, and both the shoe- and Marbury- have held their own against a shoe ten times its price. Into Thin Air
2007-04-04 19:38:00 Professional teams and players in the NFL, NHL, NBA as well as elite college programs and everyday people are getting their altitude from Colorado Altitude Training (CAT) and their extra Oxygen from companies like Oxia. More oxygen means more energy and that's what people are banking on. Colorado Altitude Training's products simulate altitude by lowering the oxygen percentage in the air to mimic the number of O2 molecules per breath at altitude which increases your lung performance. And, while Oxia claims to offer active, healthy conscious people a convenient source of natural energy to complement exercise and a busy lifestyle; it also promotes a natural alternative to help you party longer and harder! W Hotel even puts a can in every guest room in their Montreal location.Sort of makes you want to keep breathing. Source: Men's Vogue More About: Into Thin Air
Vosges Chocolates: Show Me The Bunny
2007-04-04 18:43:00 You are what you eat. And you happen to think of yourself as fit, fabulous and even somewhat healthy. So with Easter around the corner, dark chocolate must be on your mind. You've read it before: Dark chocolate, the richer in cocoa the better, is not only a to-die-for treat, it's actually good for you. And just 1 oz of a very dark chocolate packs more than twice the healthy antioxidant punch of red wine. My new find: These little Chocolate Bunnies. At first glance, they may seem a little on the plain side but their secret is in the taste; not to mention that they are cute as hell. These solid dark chocolate rabbits come in 2 exotic flavors: Red Fire Bunny is flavored with Mexican spices and Black Pearl Bunny is Japanese with wasabi and ginger. Pure pleasure for all you chocolate bunny lovers. We know you're out there. More About: Chocolates , Show , Cola , Late

2007-04-03 15:53:00 So it?s like 1:30 a.m. And, as usual, your late-night rounds to the fridge have you feeling guilty ? with all the midnight snacks you can find. In fact, the last time you sat down after midnight to eat you recreated an entire Thanksgiving dinner with all the left overs. Know what you need? A lift?n?shake salt & pepper shaker. Okay. So need is a strong word. But it wouldn't be unwelcome at a moment like this. While you pile on the salt and pepper, like we all do for left overs... this little guy will remind you what a fat slob you are becoming and to go to the gym; possibly he'll help to curb your appetite.Just lift and remove the barbell for use. Scavenger Hunts Go High Tech
2007-03-28 16:12:00 If you like The Amazing Race, you'll love geocaching. Participants, like Rach use GPS devices (like the one pictured) and often traverse rocks, mountains and creeks to locate caches -- usually a stash of trinkets (coins, charms, notes & what have you) and clues to the next location -- that have been hidden by other geocachers. Several U.S. resorts, including Spring Creek Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and The Porches Inn in North Adams, Mass., even get in on the latest rage by lend guests GPS devices to do it. The fun is the hunt. You'll forget you're exercising while you're out on your own amazing race... and you can even get the kids in on the action! Pee & Poo: The Unflushables
2007-03-27 15:33:00 I pride myself in trying to find the most unique, cutting edge, gadgets in the world of health & fitness and that's why I just had to tell you about Pee & Poo! I know some of you wouldn?t as much as entertain the idea of buying someone the gift of Pee and Poo; I however, think it's a great way for children (and adults for that matter) to open up the discussion about your bodily functions in an amusing yet aesthetic manner. The mere mention of words like "underpants" and "poop" make my boys laugh so hard that I've seen milk come out of their noses; they will fall off their seats when I bring these adorable toys home, giving them reason (and permission) to discuss their favorite subject. These toilet humor characters were designed by Emma Meggitt, as a college master design, which got such an overwhelming response that she had to act fast and actually create her plush friends. Fitness Gurus: Play Wii and Get Fit
2007-03-21 03:07:00 Well, if you can get that 33-year-old man-child to drop the remote and step away from the TV set long enough, you can channel your very own at-home trainer for both you and him ? minus the hefty hourly rate.Wii is not the typical spandex-heavy aerobics videotape; it?s more like a video game; actually it's a video console with a very cool remote and according to the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), the Nintendo Wii may be just what our lazy, exercise-phobic culture needs. Dr. Josh Trout, Professor of Kinesiology at California State University Chico, points out that any kind of tech-influenced activity, be it a Stairmaster or treadmill, will have health benefits, but the trick is getting people to actually use the darn things. Since "exertainment," as he calls it, is by definition fun, it makes it far easier for folks to get hooked on it and reap the long-term benefits. Suits Him Fine
2007-03-20 17:28:00 If the seasons held a popularity contest, spring would win hands down and today marks the first day of spring. The blooms, the skip in your step, the thoughts of spring break, blah blah blah. But it?s not all fun, games and cherry blossoms. Take that moment you first glimpse at yourself in the mirror and realize with horror that you simply don?t have the muscle tone ? or skin tone ? for any of it. Basically spring break (and summer) poses a slew of fashion dilemmas for guys, so here are a few tips to help you avoid those so-scary warm-weather faux pas.Sure, if you're an Adonis, you can opt for a snug Speedo. But for most guys, board short styles are a better swimwear solution. They're pretty foolproof: loose enough to draw attention away from the extra pounds, but with enough coverage to mask chicken legs! My favorite designer is Vilebrequin. They have the best 'father and son' collection. And, another favorite of mine is Vineyard Vines. Oh, by the way, for you men who ne... More About: Suits , Fine , Suit
Clocky: Hide-and-seek alarm clock
2007-03-19 15:02:00 First you have to accept that new routine you've taken on with your personal trainer. No easy task, but well worth the leap. The price of admission: Wake Up, and get moving! But if you snooze, Clocky will jump off of your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. Yes, it runs away. Clocky is kind of like a misbehaving pet, only he will get up at the right time. Just what I need! And, as silly as it sounds I am going to get one! Hug Shirt: Amazing Embrace
2007-03-15 17:47:00 Hugging is healthy. It helps the immune system, cures depression, reduces stress and induces sleep. It's invigorating, rejuvenating, and has no unpleasant side effects. But the next time you might want to try this new invention. The Hug Shirt , a high-tech garment that simulates the experience of being embraced by a loved one was recently named by Time Magazine as one of the top inventions of 2006. When a friend sends you a virtual hug, your cell phone notifies the shirt wirelessly, via Bluetooth and then the next thing you know is that the shirt re-creates that person's distinctive cuddle, replicating his or her warmth, pressure, duration and even heartbeat. Metromint: Orangemint and Lemonmint Flavored Water
2007-03-08 00:16:01 Eau Yes! Metro mint expanded its line of mint-flavored waters (see my previous review) with Orange mint and Lemon mint flavors, which combine the brand's mint taste and cooling sensation with the citrus flavors of orange and lemon. Lemonmint's light taste gives a boost to plain lemon water, while Orangemint has a juicy orange taste and smell (which is very important). Like the rest of the Metromint line, both flavors are made with no preservatives and are all natural, with no sweeteners or calories. With the addition, all Metromint flavors have been redesigned and come with a numerical "chill factor." Orangemint is ranked "mildly cool" at -3 degrees; Lemonmint ranks at -4 degrees; while Spearmint ranks "extra cool" at -6 degrees and Peppermint is "super cool" at -9 degrees. Pool Boys at the Mansion
2007-03-07 00:15:02 This completely reminds me of how we got onto Fear Factor (before it was cancelled). Long ago, Jim and I got cast to be involved with the Burger King / Fear Factor "Have it Your Way" show by being the first people ever to get noticed from our support received through the blogosphere, which then led to media; only to lead the way as to how a show could actually be cast. Pool boys at the Mans ion is a recently-surfaced (similar in concept) campaign by Sam Rush, Denman, and The Swede to win jobs as pool boys at what some would say is the holy grail of pools: the Playboy Mansion. Basically, on the same premise, they are looking for people to write them letters of recommendation so that when they go in for their interview, they?ll have the support of the masses. Can they gain support? Probably. But I imagine that these gentlemen (and I use the term loosely) will not only need our support, they will need to get in shape and stay there to get anywhere near that infamous pool!
