Official New York Giants Scouting Report via ETVal from Big Blue View
2008-01-03 01:33:00
Wild Card Playoffs New York GiantsVSTampa Bay Buccaneers Raymond James Stadium Sunday 1PM Est on FOXETVal from, Big Blue View, Our New York Giants Blog, has agreed to provide us with a New York Giants Scouting Report covering everything Giants from the Offense on through Special Teams. Without any more delay, here it is: ETVal - Season Overview: Despite back-to-back playoff appearances, the New York Giants entered this season riddled with question marks. Could Tom Coughlin regain control of the locker room and keep his job? Could they replace Tiki Barber? Could they replace Luke Petitgout? Could rookie coordinator Steve Spagnuolo turn around a porous defense? Could rookie GM Jerry Reese handle the job? The answer to all of those questions has been yes, and it has has resulted in a 10-6 season and third straight playoff appearance. These Giants aren't perfect. Like their quarterback Eli Manning -- and maybe because of him -- they are incredibly talented, but also incredibly...
Bucs Beat:: Why are Tickets not SOLD OUT yet?
2008-01-02 04:56:00
The Good Folks from the St. Pete Times via the Bucs Beat are questioning why Tampa Bay Buccaneer PLAYOFF Tick ets have yet to sell out!! They even go so far as to suggest a possible BLACKOUT for the viewing area on Sunday (not going to happen). I'll tell you why tickets arent selling... It's because they're ridiculously priced. If you go over to TicketMaster.com right now and try to get some tickets for Sundays Playoff Game, the cheapest they come is for a cool $250.00 a piece and thats for second deck tickets on the 20 yard line!!! Or if you're feeling froggy you can pay $545.00 a piece for tickets on the 50 yard line in the second deck. I think I'll tune into Fox, thanks though! Is it really a shock that these tickets ARE NOT SELLING? Below I've provided links to tickets that are reasonably priced in the $120-$150 per ticket range (their in the endzones of course, but in the lower level and at least you're not mortgaging your future to see the ball game up close): Coast t...

Know Thy Enemy: Big Blue View, our New York Giants Blog
2008-01-01 16:51:00
If you're anything like me, you probably don't know a dang thing about the New York Giants and more importantly, their current football squad (other than the trio of Eli Manning, Jeremy Shockey, and Plaxico Burress). Never fear, ETVal from Big Blue View, our New York Giants Blog , has accepted the task of answering this Buc's Fans Questions in a lovely SB Nation Q & A Session...... JScott:There's been a lot of talk this year about whether Eli Manning was not only good enough to QB for the Giants, but whether he could make it in the NFL period. Has that talk subsided this season or is there a portion of the fan base that would like to see him go? ETVal: Ah, the Eli question right off the bat. Read the comments on my site pretty much any day (even after Eli was brilliant Saturday against New England) and you know a large portion of Giants' fans are tired of waiting for Eli. He frustrates all of us because he has brilliant games like Saturday night, but then too many g...
The Regular Season is Officially OVER for our Tampa Bay Buccaneers!!!
2007-12-30 22:23:00
It was an interesting season to say the least. We were able to see LB Barrett Ruud carry former LB Shelton Quarle's torch with flawless ease. Future Hall of Fame LB Derrick Brooks continued to be as productive as ever 4th Round Draft Pick, Tanard Jackson proved why being overlooked in the draft wasnt such a good idea for the other 31 teams in the NFL. Head Coach Jon Gruden put forth one of his best Coaching Performances to date and finally overcame the injuries (although they still came like clock work) We saw Gaines Adams struggle and Greg White emerge as a threat on the line We got to see the joy of a Garcia-to-Galloway-connection time and time again Ike Hilliard, I apologize for criticizing you in the off-season. You've earned this Buc's Fans respect... Michael Spurlock finally ended the Kickoff Returns for Touchdown drought. A 31 year on going ridiculousness ended! We saw injuries to a number of guys: Caddy, Petitgout, Sabby Piscitelli, Paris Warren, and Mike ...

Which Gameday Preparation will pay off? Grudens? Coughlins?
2007-12-30 16:12:00
...UPDATE... Rotoworld is reporting that QB Jeff Garcia, WR Joey Galloway, WR Ike Hilliard, RB Earnest Graham, and LB Barrett Ruud will all be INACTIVE today against the PanthersThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants are a week away from squaring off in the first round of the Playoffs... Both Head Coaches have different approaches going into the final game of their respective seasons: Head Coach Tom Coughlin elected to start his boys against the New England Patriots and almost pulled off the unthinkable. In that (38-35) loss to the UNDEFEATED Patriots, the Giants lost starting Center Shaun O'Hara, Back-up Safety Craig Dahl, Linebacker Kawika Mitchell, and Cornerback Sam Madison. Head Coach Jon Gruden, by all accounts, is expected to rest the majority of his starters, namely QB Jeff Garcia, RB Earnest Graham, and WR Joey Galloway among others. With 13 Players on Injured Reserve this season, its no surprise Gruden is electing to play it safe and rest his squad. If I had to ...

Rookie DE Gaines Adams hit with fine by the NFL
2007-12-30 03:36:00
The Bucs Beat is reporting Rookie Defensive End Gaines Adams was recently fined $5,000.00 by the League for his helmet-to-helmet hit on San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Shaun Hill last Sunday. It's funny to me, because 49ers Defensive Lineman Bryant Young had a helmet-to-helmet hit on QB Jeff Garcia that was just as obvious, yet the league didnt fine him, nor did he get penalized during the game. Gaines has 4.5 sacks, 35 tackles, 1 Forced Fumble, and 2 Pass Deflections going into Sundays Final game of the season. It's not the type of year Bucs Fans or (I'm sure) Gaines Adams had envisioned, but he is getting valuble experience and you can see that he's finding ways to get to the quarterback as the season goes on. A year ago, the number one pick in the Draft, in the Houston Texans Mario Williams, had gone through the same rough Rookie Season Gaines has just about finished and Mario has looked ALOT better this season. In fact, he's registered 14 sacks and is a sack away from l...

Bucs looking past the Panthers to prepare for the New York Giants?
2007-12-28 03:39:00
A majority of the Bucs on the Roster would like you to believe they are completely focused on the Panthers this Sunday. There are several key players though, who have an eye on our First Round Match-Up with the New York Giants... Charles Gonzalez of the Pewter Report relays several players decisions to prepare for the Panthers and the Giants simultaneously. Here's one of those players reasoning for preparing for the future match-up: "Our commitment throughout the day preparation-wise is on Carolina, but I'm preparing myself to bring film home and start preparing for the Giants. Start to focus on the defense that I'm going to face in two weeks," Garcia said. "That's not to take anything lightly with this weekend, but it gives me a chance - especially considering the possibilities of me playing this week or not - to start to look ahead to that and focus on them a little bit." - Pewter Report I don't blame QB Jeff Garcia one bit. Not to down play the Panthers, but Sundays game ...

Congrats: Buc 'Em Fantasy Football League Champion......
2007-12-28 02:17:00
Brought to you by: CBS Sportsline And just like that its all over! The First Annual Buc 'Em Fantasy Football League has come to a conclusion. The Champion is none other than "awburn7" .... Not the most catchy Fantasy Team name is it? The final results are all that matters though. Congratulations Adam, you b#$%@&^! You are the Champ for '08!! You definitely deserve it. Adam started the season (0-3) and then NEVER looked back. Looking at his roster, he clearly won with a team of bandits. Not bad, Not bad. Rookie RB Adrian Peterson was a work horse this season and QB Drew Brees (although his team sucked) gave a pretty consistent performance throughout the year. Okay let me stop, I know your salivating at the thought of your Prizes, heh. The good folks at WallDaddy.com have supplied you with not one, but TWO Tampa Bay Bucs Posters. One of the team logo and one of RB Cadillac Williams: In the event, that THAT isnt enough for our Buc 'Em Fantasy Football League Champio...
Gameday Thread: Tampa Bay Bucs AT San Francisco 49ers
2007-12-23 22:04:00
...UPDATE... Gruden has taken QB Jeff Garcia out of the game before the end of the 1st Half along with WR Joey Galloway!!! Thank goodness for that... WR Maurice Stovall looked like he shattered anything and everything inside his right arm, Galloway looked to have aggrivated his left shoulder injury, and Greg White, the teams leading Sack Getter also got injured.Gameday Thread .... Bucs AT 49ers, 4:05pm Est on Fox. This is our 2nd to last ball game before the Playoffs. Pray for NO INJURIES!!! It'll be interesting to see if Garcia plays the whole game. Go Bucs!

Samsung Defining Moment: WR Joey Galloway to go OFF Sunday
2007-12-20 03:38:00
In the NFL, the biggest Games are decided by the smallest details. Here's what I would suggest as this weekends most defining moment... Neither of the NFL Playoff Bound Florida Teams had any players get elected to the Pro Bowl. Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Joey Galloway has 6 Touchdowns on the Season and will go over 1,000 yards receiving when the season comes to an end in two weeks. Sure Terrell Owens, Larry Fitzgerald, Donald Driver, and Torry Holt have had better statistical seasons thus far, but they havent had to carry their Wide Receiving Corps either. Ike Hilliard has 3 more receptions than Joey, but trails Galloway by more than 300 yards. It's no secret the Bucs have one of the weakest Wide Receiving Corps in the NFL, yet Galloway shows up, day-in and day-out to carry the load. Sunday he will have his biggest game as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer against the San Francisco 49ers. Mark it down!!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Reebok Zero Degrees Jacket, Might need one
2007-12-20 03:05:00
During the Off-Season I told you guys about some G-R-E-A-T mesh shorts Reebok had put out for the coming season (yes i DID, click here, see, i told you). The welcomed addition was a rear-pocket... The Official Outfitter of the NFL is back at it. Reebok has released their "Zero Degrees" clothes line. I picked up a Bucs light weight jacket while on my Honeymoon (there's nothing wrong with that). Let me tell you, the jacket is very very nice. Ya'll know how much I hate the Bucs implementation of the bronze color within their fan gear and it rears its ugly head on this "Zero Degrees" Jacket as well, but it actually looks good. Don't believe me? Just look below: I told you it looked good. The jacket, like I said is light weight and was about $86.00 when taxes and such were added to the final price. I think its perfect for that Florida Weather that doesnt get all that cold, but can supply a nippy month and half or two. On the back of the jacket at the very bottom right corner, it h...

It only took 31 YEARS, but the Bucs finally returned a Kickoff!!
2007-12-20 02:16:00
Get your own countUP at BlingyBlob.comSince Buc 'Ems inception to Bucs Blogging we've had the (up-above) Countdown on our Sidebar. Can you believe it took our Franchise 31 years to record a Kickoff for a Touchdown!?!? You just had to know it would be an obscure player and an unpredictable game in which the feat would be accomplished. Michael Spurlock is that obscure player who ran 90 yards for the Record Books. Who, you might ask? He was signed as a Free Agent during the season to fill the void that was left when KR Mark Jones tore his patellar tendon. Spurlock played college ball at Ole Miss. That's about all I can tell you about him. Here's Spurlock's take on the play: "It was a middle-left return, and for some reason, everybody from Atlanta just played over. “We got our blocks, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is wide open.’ I hit [the hole], and I saw the guy running after me. I thought, ‘You never know how close you’re going to get to this again. Just take your opportunity and r...

Gameday Thread: Tampa Bay Bucs vs Atlanta Falcons
2007-12-16 17:09:00
When: 1:00pm Est Sunday Where: Raymond James Stadium Why to Watch: With a Win the Bucs head to the Playoffs!! I know the Falcons as a whole seem like a Bad Dream, but our players shouldnt take them lightly today. You've got a team that has been kicked while its down and should clearly come together on this day and save some face. I expect today's game to be brutal. The Falcons want to resemble a team and the Bucs want to wrap up their Playoff hopes. Don't look for a 31-7 outcome today, its not going to happen. Despite the distractions, the Falcons will come in focused today. To talk about that focus, here's a Q & A session with our Atlanta Falcons Blogger, Dave, from The Falcoholic: JScott: Bobby Petrino.... Did you see his departure coming? Now that you've had time to reflect, are you and the fan base glad that he made this decision, was there a quiet consensus building over the course of the season that felt Petrino wasn't right for the job? Will the Falcons replace P...

Buc 'Em Blog Fantasy League Playoffs Begin Sunday!!!
2007-12-16 17:08:00
Brought to you by: CBS Sportsline The Buc 'Em Fantasy Football Regular Season is OVER and the Playoffs Begin. Sadly enough, yours truly did not make the cut! It would have been lame had I won any way (right), since I'd love to give away some of these prizes we have.. Like this fancy Bucs Poster from WallDaddy.com: It's been one heck of an NFL Fantasy Season... The Thelonious Monks started the season going something insane like (8-0) and as you'll see below, he did NOT make it into the Playoffs. On the other side of the coin, awburn7 started the season like (0-5) before he turned his fortunes around and you'll have to look below to see if he made it into the Postseason. I basically won two, lost two the whole season. I was lucky to finish (8-6). Buc 'Em contributer 55Fan ran wild on the Fantasy Season, finishing (11-2), that is impressive and I'd hate to face his squad in the Playoffs... Our only female in the league, CubanChick finished second in her division wit...

Bucs currently have a 98.8% Shot at making the Playoffs i.e. Excited yet?
2007-12-13 03:51:00
Courtesy of the good folks at SportsClubStats.com, we fans now have a MUCH CLEARER picture/idea (literally) of the Bucs chances of making the Playoffs . I don't know about you, but its time to pop the cork on that Playoff Bottle of Bubbly... I mean, take a serious look up above... Good ahead, I'll wait... did you see that? If we LOSE OUT we still have a 90.9% chance of making the Playoffs. I don't know about you, but that registers a letter grade of "A" at Florida State University, isn't that right Spires? In other words, we are going to the Playoffs, its just a matter of time my fellow fans!!! Remaining on the Schedule is (3-10) Atlanta, (3-10) San Francisco, and (5-8) Carolina... There's no way we lose all three of those games and I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say "We will win-out the rest of the season". The Falcons would be exorcizing some major demons should they pull off the upset in Raymond James Stadium this weekend. Can you even name the 49ers and Panthers sta...

Random Tampa Bay Buc musings
2007-12-13 01:51:00
TE Jerramy Stevens will begin a One Game suspension for Drunken Driving charges that stem from his arrest back in September (you gotta wonder when Cato Junes punishment will be handed down) The Bucs will no longer play the San Francisco 49ers on ESPN's Sunday Night Football next week. The game has been moved from its "Spotlight" Status and is now scheduled for a 4pm Kickoff on Sunday via Fox. That's not ground breaking news, considering the 49ers suck and we'll have wrapped up the NFC South by then (knock on wood) and could potentially be resting key players QB Jeff Garcia fully participated in today's practice solidifying his status as the Bucs starting QB this weekend. The Bucs have released Lionel Gates and replaced him on the Active Roster with NFL Draftee Kenneth Darby FB B.J. Askew will not play this weekend paving the way for the Bucs to re-sign Zach Crockett... You gotta feel sorry for the back packers on this squad. In closing, I saved a bunch of money by swit...

You thought we had it bad last year, checkout the Falcons
2007-12-12 03:30:00
I thought last season was pretty rough finishing (4-12), watching our QB's health dramatically decline, and watching those Lions Draft yet another Wide Receiver. Folks we hadn't even scratched the surface of what a tough year can be like, specifically for a Division Rival in the Atlanta Falcons ..... eek! For starters, their FRANCHISE, EXCITING as EVER to WATCH QB gets caught engaging in one of the most hideous acts ever and then he gets sentenced to 23 months in prison. You knew the season would be grim record wise, but (3-10)? And now this..... Head Coach Bobby Petrino has decided to jump ship and reportedly has accepted the vacant Arkansas job, to join the Collegiate ranks once again. Word is he won't even Coach the Falcons remaining games on the season. Talk about a chump..... What's next for the Falcons? Well for starters a new Head Coach, potentially a new General Manager (Good Luck Rich) and possibly the departure of DeAngelo Hall to Free Agency..... I hear the TV Channe...

Sabby the Coaches Assistant?
2007-12-11 03:36:00
Sabby Piscitelli, you may have heard of or remember him. He's that young Safety that the Bucs Drafted who showed so much promise alongside fellow Rookie Tanard Jackson throughout Pre-Season. Sabby a Second Round pick has missed action since the Third game of the season with a foot injury. Some refer to him as the "Italian Stallion" .... Head Coach Jon Gruden refers to him as studious or more aptly, an Assistant : "Sabby is my assistant. He previews the next team, writes reports and is working on the Atlanta Falcons I'm sure right now up in my office," Gruden said. "He's staying on top of things and he's going to be a dynamic player for us. He's fast, learning our defense for the time and we are looking forward to having him here someday." - Clearly Jon Gruden thinks highly of Sabby and seems to be enamored with him enough to give him assignments like scouting upcoming opponents. How cool would that be? I'd like to see Sabby's notebook and what he's contributed and has to s...

A Cadillac was spotted at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Facilities
2007-12-11 03:08:00
Carnell "Cadillac " Williams was spotted at One Buc Place, the Tampa Bay Bucs Training Facility, reports Charles Gonzalez of the Pewter Report. He's begun his rehab on his knee (torn patellar tendon he and KR Mark Jones suffered). Cadillac hasn't been seen in the Bucs Facilities ever since he got injured in the Bucs Week 4 Match-Up against the Carolina Panthers and who can blame him? That injury was hideous looking and had to be demoralizing since Caddy was finally picking up steam and playing up to his standards. Gruden on having Cadillac back: "He's back and he obviously misses football tremendously. It's great to have him back and he's a super guy," Gruden said. "He's got a long way to go in his rehab, but he checks in early and he checks out late. It's a grueling process and it's under way and we are optimistic about helping him back." - The good news is Caddy is walking around without the assistance of crutches or a cane and is focusing on strengthening his knee and ...

QB Jeff Garcia to START against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday
2007-12-11 02:42:00
QB Jeff Garcia is expected to take the field Sunday at Raymond James Stadium against the Atlanta Falcons. Head Coach Jon Gruden has been receiving heat for being sketchy as to who would start this past Sunday in the defeat to the Houston Texans... He refused to apologize however and I agree with him: "I don't believe I should apologize, but I don't feel like we have to divulge everything or let everyone know exactly where it is in terms of the timetable for Jeff. We felt it was a two-week injury. ... We feel we did the right thing, the only thing [to do was] to let the injury get better." - ESPN.com The mejority of the teams in the league hide their hand when it comes to choosing a Start ing QB when the teams main starter is under the weather or recovering from an injury, as in Garcia's case. The Falcons recently did it against the Bucs, by not naming Byron Leftwich (aka mistake) the starter during the week when they met just 4 weeks ago.

Bucs could CLINCH NFC South Tonight.....
2007-12-11 02:20:00
VS You may want to tune into Monday Night Football's Match-Up between NFC South Heavy Light Weights, I kid because I care Dave and Sunil!!! In all seriousness, should the Falcons pull off the miracle upset and beat the Saints tonight (it could happen if a certain coach decides to call a reverse toss to kill the clock), the Bucs will have clinched the NFC South by default. Not exactly how our players-coaches wanted to secure the division, BUT I'll take it, as will the rest of our fan base. May the best team win gentlemen!!! If your interested in the Falcons be sure to checkout The Falcoholic our Atlanta Falcons Blog or if your interested in the Saints be sure to checkout Canal Street Chronicles our New Orleans Saints Blog. Tampa Bay Buccaneers have no chance against the Packers or Cowboys
2007-12-07 05:07:00
Jeffri Chadiha of ESPN.com gives a little "Stretch Drive" run down of what the Playoff Bound teams in the NFL need to do in order to make and sustain a playoff run. Jeffri has the following to say about our Bucs chances: "The Bucs aren't good enough to play with Dallas and Green Bay, but they'll win at least one postseason game." Great, so we'll win our one Home Playoff Game and pack it in when it comes time to face the Packers or Cowboys . I guess we might as well jump into our NFL Draft preparation for the off-season then. I heard this all off-season and even got laughed at by a Sports Talk Radio host when I said the Bucs would finish (10-6). I know we don't have a win over any of the big boys to help my case, but this team has been so resilient this season. I have a feeling they'll find a way to get it done. I don't know why I let articles like this get to me, the same notion was repeated earlier this season when a ESPN Preview to the first Bucs-Saints match-up read "Winn...

Extend Head Coach Jon Gruden's Contract? You want to do what?
2007-12-07 04:36:00
Gary Shelton of the St. Pete Times advocates for the Glazers to extend Head Coach Jon Gruden's contract after his Coaching performance thus far this season. Shelton says: "A dozen games into a hot-seat season, and it is time that Gruden got what was coming to him. This week, perhaps next, the Glazers should pull him in, sit him down and shove a pen in his direction. After that, they should invite him to sign a contract extension. Gruden has saved his job. He has done enough, and his team has won enough, to silence even the harshest of his critics" You're kidding right? My goodness, this was a Hot Seat Season for a reason. We're 3/4's of the way into the season and we're talking about giving Gruden a contract extension? What has he done to deserve such insanity? Sure we're (8-4), on the way to the Playoffs, and alot better than the Main Stream Media thought we would be, BUT let's let the season play out before we give the keys to the city to Gruden. What happens if we lose ...

One Player vows to improve, another is agitated he can't show his growth
2007-12-05 03:35:00
Bucs Cornerback Phillip Buchanon got beat on a 40 yard pass reception by Saints WR Marques Colston and a couple plays later had a 4 yard Touchdown Pass caught on him by Saints WR Terrance Cooper. To that, Buchanon vows to get better and improve his play making ability: "I had bad technique. It was a situation where I just beat myself," Buchanon said. "There was just some other things going on and I feel like I left plays out there on the field. At the same time, I expect so much from myself. I'm happy we won the game. That was our main objective. I'm better than that. I'm not going to try ... I am going to improve this week," Buchanon said. - Tampa Tribune Could having to play two positions be getting to Phillip? Nah, I don't think so either.... He should continue returning punts, in fact he should take over Ike Hilliards duties as well. On the flip side, Recently acquired RB Michael Bennett is a little aggravated about his lack of playing time: "At least where I was in Kans...

Don't tell Gruden that Saints Game wasn't a Must Win Game
2007-12-04 04:51:00
I said prior to Sunday's Match-Up with the Saints , how that was probably the one game of the season we could actually afford to lose. I'm glad I wasnt given the opportunity to tell Head Coach Jon Gruden such utter ridiculousness.Late in the fourth quarter of yesterday's ball game, with his team down by 3 points, Gruden decides to GO FOR IT on fourth down and one from the Saints 28 yard line. We were clearly in K Matt Bryant's field goal range. Although it was 4th and 1, that one yard looked alot closer to two yards from my vantage point. Gruden allowed 3rd String RB Earnest "Earned it" Graham to take the ball to extend the drive. Graham got the first down with ease. Here's Graham's take on the play call: “I was happy as heck to have that play because I was kind of disappointed that we didn't get it on third down,” said Graham, who had also carried the ball on the previous three plays. “Once [Gruden] made that call, I just knew in that situation we were going to get it. Would you SIT QB Jeff Garcia?
2007-12-03 18:39:00
Several News Outlets, namely ESPN and the St. Pete Times have been reporting that Tampa Bay Bucs QB Jeff Garcia has a hairline fracture in his back..... Former Bucs QB Brad Johnson had the same injury years ago and missed three weeks. My question is: Would you sit Jeff Garcia for the next couple ball games and let him heal up to near 100% or would you throw him out there to secure our Playoff run with the possibility of losing him for the duration of the Season?
