Whacking Day (part 1)

Good morning to you all! In the first of a number of updates throughout the day, which I am going to dub as "Whack ing Day", let me set the scene. But first, why "Whacking Day"?Many of you likely know that this fictitious holiday is one of The Simpsons lore, and you can read more about it here. What I'm doing today is conceptualizing the concept from cartoon into a modern setting. With the Miami Masters being shown on TV from 11:00 a.m. until well into the evening, there will be plenty of whacks of the ball from the players. But it doesn't just pertain to the pros - the amateur journalist will follow suit.Whacking at keys from sunrise to sunset, I would anticipate word counts in the thousands. I'm excited, and to be honest, I'm not sure what to expect. But whatever happens, any excitement on a Monday will steer from the norm - the grim spectre of work. One final post for the evening?do keep in mind that tomorrow will be a day filled with updates, as I?ve decided to eschew work in favour of The Tennis Channel?s (TTC) final day of coverage, which uses the outstanding ATP feed. Since Saturday was plagued with rain, and today?s tennis was also shortened due to a walkover (courtesy of Olivier Rochus), I need a complete, uninterrupted day of tennis to feel satisfied. And what better time do to it than on a Monday, when I?d usually be fielding annoying phone calls and emails?Today?s viewing of tennis was minimal at times, but when I did sit down and watch, it was pretty impressive. I caught a few points of the Tommy Robredo/Kevin Kim match in the morning, but soon changed the channel due to the immensely important Rangers/Islanders game in the National Hockey League (Rangers fan, thank you).
