New Ryan Newman Column On Yahoo Sports

Ryan has a new column out this week. He talks a little about how drivers agree in general agree with what Tony Stewart had to say about Goodyear and the tires they brought to Atlanta, but goes on to say that he also thinks that Tony went overboard a little. He also talks about the schedule that he and all the NASCAR drivers keep and how that can make life a little crazy. Along with that he has some ideas on changing the NASCAR schedule a little bit for the drivers. But he says he does not mind a 36 race schedule. For starters I need to apologize for letting people think there was a PODCAST last week. There was not. I was caught speculating. Just this week I was informed that Ryan Newman will not be putting out a podcast every week. I was also informed the next podcast will be recorded on MARCH 18th. So keep an eye out for it. Down to this weeks podcast. This week’s podcast features Trent Cherry. Trent is the pit coach and rear tire changer for the #12 Alltel Dodge pit crew. Trent also has his own blog that he writes to pretty often. You can find that here - Over The Wall. Trent talks about a lot of good things like how the teams confidence is really up since the Daytona 500 win. He talks about what they did with all of thier down time at California. He also talks a lot about how great the Alltel My Circle 500 is. He participated in it last year and will be this year. He describes how great it is for the fans to get so close and hands on with an actual pit crew and pit stops....

By SceneDaily Staff Friday, February 29, 2008 LAS VEGAS – Ryan Newman sits second in points and seems to be eagerly anticipating to the UAW-Dodge 400 this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It is just the second Sprint Cup race since the track was repaved and rebanked, and it’s the first race at the track in NASCAR’s new car. “I look forward to the race,” Newman said before practice Friday. “I kind of like the way the track was last year, the fact that it actually separated out and had multiple grooves in the first year, which you don’t typically see.” Last year, several drivers crashed in practice, but the race went off OK. The tire was hard and drivers didn’t have as much grip as they wished they could have had. “It was tough last year for sure with the tire combination because we came back with a harder tire than what we had in the test. … I thought the race was good – there were lots of cars that crashed in practice,” Newman said.
