California Qualifying - Penske Points

Due to the weather issue in California the Auto Club 500 Qualifying was canceled. Practice number 2 was held today for a total of 17 laps. The shortened practice was also due to the weather. Ryan Newman was the 21st fastest in that practice. The Nationwide series is at least currently being delayed due to rain. The weather forecast for tomorrows Auto Club 500 is not that good. According to the weather forecast right here on this site, Fontana is going to experience downpours in the morning followed by a few showers in the afternoon. The race coverage is scheduled at 3:30 pm est tommorrow which is 11:30 local time in Fontana, CA. It may be fair to say that we can expect at least a delay. Due to the qualifying being canceled, Ryan Newman will be starting 13th in the race due to owner points from last season. Kurt Busch had to use a provisional to get into the race at California. The title of this article is the title of another article that I just read at the Las Vegas Sun. This was posted by Mike Smith and Brian Hilderbrand. Their section is called “taking Nascar for a spin”. For starters, head over there and read the article. Leave them your thoughts and comments as I did. If you don’t want to head over there and read it, here is the jist of the article. The fans at the Daytona 500 were not cheering because Ryan Newman won. In fact they question if there really are any Ryan Newman Fans. Anyway, they go on to say that the reason people were cheering is because a Toyota did not win. People were cheering at the finish because a Toyota did not win? HMMMMM. That seems a bit weird to me.
