For Kenseth, Dover marks another big step forward
2008-06-02 11:06:00 DOVER, Del. — In an attempt to turn their season around, Chip Bolin dusted off an old friend: Roush Fenway chassis RK-473. It was the oldest car in the No. 17 team’s stable, dating back to the race at Dover International Speedway last fall. But at the moment, Bolin needed something tried and true. With his team slipping further away from the Chase with every passing week, the first-year crew chief pulled out a proven car for two of his driver’s best tracks. And the results were evident Sunday, when Matt Kenseth recorded a fourth-place finish on Dover’s Monster Mile to continue his climb back from the depths of the Sprint Cup standings. Notes: Vickers questions his two speeding penalties
2008-06-02 07:06:00 DOVER, Del. — Brian Vickers‘ crew was clocked for speeding coming off pit road twice during Sunday’s Best Buy 400 at Dover International Speedway, but it left the driver perplexed as to how it could even happen. Vickers, who started the race seventh and selected the third pit box, only had a short distance to get his No. 83 Toyota off pit road. But during green-flag stops on Lap 235, Vickers was slapped with a pass-through penalty for speeding. Eleven laps later, he was hit again during the race’s fifth caution. Biffle works hard for his second top-five in a row
2008-06-01 21:06:00 DOVER, Del. — Greg Biffle got out of his car, soaked in his driver’s suit and eyes beaming wide-open. But his voice dragged. He was tired. If his second consecutive top-five finish — not counting a runner-up in the All-Star Race — was such an accomplishment, Biffle struggled to show it Sunday night at Dover International Speedway when he came home in third place. Good pit stops help Busch pull away to easy victory
2008-06-01 21:06:00 DOVER, Del. — Same song, different verse. Points leader Kyle Busch made mincemeat of the competition and a mockery of Sunday’s Best Buy 400 at Dover International Speedway. In a race that stayed green for the final 153 laps, Busch gained a total of 5 seconds over runner-up Carl Edwards on his final two pit stops, built a lead that topped 8 seconds and cruised in his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to a 4.225-second win, his fourth of the season and the eighth of his career (watch video). Pole-sitter Greg Biffle ran third, followed by Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon and Martin Truex Jr., as only six cars finished on the lead lap. Busch grabbed the lead from Edwards during a cycle of green-flag pit stops that ended on Lap 237. NASCAR called a caution on Lap 243 for debris in Turn 2 — under which the leaders remained on the track — and after a restart on Lap 248, Edwards dogged Busch until both drivers brought their cars to the pits under green on Lap 319. Busch outruns Roush drivers to win at Dover
2008-06-01 18:06:00 DOVER, Del. — Kyle Busch revels in his role as NASCAR’s villain. He enjoys his role as the top driver so much more. Busch was simply sensational again, dominating the second half of the 400-mile race Sunday at Dover International Speedway and racing to his Sprint Cup series-best fourth win of the season. Busch made it 10 victories total this season, including two in the Craftsman Truck Series and four in the Nationwide Series. He won for the third time in the last five Cup races. "It was definitely a great race for us there,” Busch said. "We didn’t have the car to beat today.” And when the Joe Gibbs Racing driver doesn’t find himself in Victory Lane at the end of a Cup race, he’s pretty close: Busch earned his fifth straight top-three finish and hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 in any of the last seven races. Team owner Joe Gibbs was in the middle of the celebration on pit road while Busch took a bow from his No... More About: Drivers , Roush

Their focus is on Dover, but all eyes are on Eldora track
2008-05-31 21:05:00 DOVER, Del. — Carl Edwards has won 10 times on NASCAR’s premier circuit, including lucrative events at Texas and Las Vegas. He’s won on the iconic short track at Bristol. He’s won one championship in what’s now the Nationwide Series, another in a smaller stock-car association, and a pair of track titles at Capital Speedway outside of Jefferson City, Mo. And ranking right up there with all those accomplishments is a victory in an exhibition dirt race in an Ohio town with a population of just 224. But that’s what the Prelude to the Dream, an exhibition organized by two-time NASCAR champion and Eldora Speedway owner Tony Stewart means to so many of the Sprint Cup stars who have taken part in it. They may be at Dover International Speedway for Sunday’s Best Buy 400, but they can’t wait to get to Eldora for Wednesday night’s all-star dirt race benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp’s new Kansas City wing, the Tony Stewart Fo... Red Bull making strides for future, seeing results now
2008-05-31 18:05:00 DOVER, Del. — Blame it on the paint scheme change from blue to silver. But more likely it was the five-race hiatus he spent watching from atop the pit box while Mike Skinner drove his car. Either way, it’s changed A.J. Allmendinger’s approach, and even more so it’s improved Red Bull Racing overall as an organization. Autostock A.J. Allmendinger Best Buy 400 Lineup Pos. Driver Speed Time 1. G.
