2008-01-09 14:49:00 Wenger’s secret weapon, Brazilian born Croatian Eduardo da Silva has finally hit his form, The newest addition to Wengers roving eye found it difficult to find his form initially in the Premiership but in recent games, the clinical finisher has started converting goals with ease. Game in hand and still leading
2007-11-25 13:29:00 The Gunners have continued to live up to expectations by leading the premiership league table every week since they took over as league leaders. Last season, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, gave his critics the go ahead to ask for his head if he does not achieve anything with the squad he was building….. He has categorically and emphatically shut any armchair critic up by making sure his young team play the type of football which his main rivals can only look at with nostalgia and amazement week in and week out. These Gunners have been likened to ‘The Invincibles’ who went a whole season unbeaten. Well I have bad news for Arsenals rivals this season; this crop of players are going to achieve more than the so called ‘Invincibles’ did some years back. We are here to stay. Second week running
2007-09-22 20:25:00 Arsenal are topping the Premiership league table for the second week running. I have been a bit reluctant to right any stories about Arsene Wenger and his crop of young Gunners because i am a bit superstitious. A colleague of mine told me that as long as this site keeps running, Arsenal will keep sliding down the premiership rankings as a strong team to contend with. The superstitious bit of me kicked in and I kept well away from this site but I have been able to overcome that little hurdle and can now beat my chest and shout it from the rooftops that we are back as a force to reckon with. The young Gunners have now come of age. More About: Running , Week
Wenger signs new deal
2007-09-07 16:05:00 Arsene Wenger keeps faith with his young Gunners by signing a new three year deal with the club laying to rest speculations that he will leave The Arsenal following David Dein’s departure. The Gunners strong start to the season which sees them 2nd behind Liverpool after 4 games is an indication that The Gooners hope to host a stronger title challenge this season after the departure of their mecurial talisman Thierry Henry More About: Signs , Deal
Arsenal come out trumps
2007-08-13 14:46:00 The Gunners were host to fellow Londoners Fulham in the first match of the new 2007/2008 premiership season. The Arsenal s’ hopes of hitting the ground running and getting early points almost came unstuck in the very first minute of the game with a goal from Healy following a catastrophic mistake by Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehman……… The Gunners however showed grit and determination by coming out of that encounter with a win. The Arsenals’ game showed a hint of what to expect this new season with attempts at goal coming from so many angles and raining down on the Fulham goalkeeper. It however took a late penalty from Robin van Pierse after Kolo Toure’s rampaging run into the oppositions penalty area had been halted illegally in the 84th minute to bring Arsene Wenger’s team level and a 90th minute bit of brilliance from Hleb to give The Gooners the desired win.
First Silverware
2007-07-29 22:35:00 Let the silverware flood into The Gooners trophy room this season. The Arsenal showed their teeming supporters what to expect this season by winning The Emirates Cup in splendid fashion. Pundits who have doubted if The Gunners will have the wherewithal and clout to challenge for gongs in the 2007/2008 footballing season have been given an insight into the future of this very young squad who are showing signs of finally coming of age
Lukasz Fabianski in Mart Poom out
2007-05-28 20:58:00 Polish international goalkeeper Luka sz joins The Gunners from Legia Warsaw a move which saw the exit of Estonian Mart Poom to Watford. Arsene Wenger is trying to rebuild his squad very quietly gearing up for the coming season. The Frenchman was not too pleased to be behind the League Champions Manchester United by well over 20 points at the end of last season and with every club hoping to make a better impact in the coming season, The Arsenal really have to be battle ready for the hurdles ahead. Arsenal do Man U favour
2007-05-06 20:12:00 The Gunners held Chelsea to a draw at the Emirates to help Manchester United secure the Premiership title. Chelsea needed to win The Arse nal to keep up the title chase but their hopes came undone in the first half of the game. Gilberto beat Petr Cech from the penalty spot after Boularhouz had brought down the rampaging Beast Julio Baptista. The Chelsea defender saw red from the referee as Chelsea were reduced to ten men. John Terry and his merry band of men put up a gallant performance and drew level from a Michael Essien header. This was not enough to secure them the needed three points though and Manchester United have claimed yet another League title. I wonder if they will be ducked points by the league though for the underhand arrangement they had with Everton which saw Everton not playing American goalkeeper Tim Howard in their clash at Goodison Park two weeks ago. Man U won that match but are presently being probed.
Will Wenger stay?
2007-04-20 10:25:00 Wenger’s chief ally and the man who actually recruited him David Dein has quit the board of Arsenal because of irreconsilable differences with the board of directors. Wenger’s future with the club is now highly uncertain. David dein who owns shares worth over 14% of Arsenal wants the club to sell out to American investor Kroenke who recently acquired 11% shares in the club and “haul Arsenal into the 21st century”. He feels that selling out will give the Gunners the opportunity to mount a veritable title challenge in future seasons and make them more competitive with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool who have all gone to foreign ownership………… … David seems to be forgetting that of these three clubs, only Chelsea have an astronomical amount of money to spend due to their new owner the Russian Roman Abramovich who has over £6billion liquid cash to play with and buy players for astronomically obscene amounts ... Drab draw
2007-04-10 09:18:00 The Gunners played the most boring game you will have seen them play in a very long time yesterday at St. James Park against Newcastle and came away with a point after a very drab goalless draw. Arsenal showed that they were low on confidence after losing three straight matches to Everton and Liverpool away and to West Ham at home but at least they succeeded in eking out a point. Better a point than to play another exciting game of football and losing the match thereby dropping points with Bolton and Everton breathing down our necks hoping to knock us out of our fourth position which assures us of a Champions League slot next season. Another disappointing loss
2007-04-08 09:25:00 Arsenal’s 100% home record at The Emirates Stadium went up in flames yesterday after a Bobby Zamora injury time goal in the first half put the struggling Hammers ahead. The Gunners game against West Ham epitomised what is wrong at The Arsenal this season. As usual we played scincillating football which was breathtaking at times but we did not transform our ball possession into goals. Arsenal’s goal drought has been its bane in recent seasons. As The Gunners missed clear scoring opportunity one after the other reminiscent of all the games we have lost this season, I clung on to hope and prayer (belief has since flown out of the window) that we would turn things round but alas this did not happen. Next season please get us a striker with pedigree Wenger. More About: Other , Loss , Another , Point , Inti
Will Henry leave?
2007-04-07 06:24:00 Thierry Henry is rumoured to be on his way out of Arsenal. His injury worries this season and continued interest from other European clubs despite the fact that he just signed a four year extension to his contract less than a year ago may tempt Wenger to let the mecurial striker who joined The Gunners in 1999 leave. The most enticing of these offers from other clubs is Henry for Et’oo of Barcelona with cash thrown in of course to enrichen Arsenal further. More About: Leave , Will
American takeover?
2007-04-07 01:34:00 Naah that will not happen. At least not just yet. Olan Kroenke acquiring ITV’s 9.9% Arsenal shares does not necessarily mean that The Gunners are going to have a new management. Man United sold out to Glazier as a fallout of Fergusons wranglings over ownership of a race horse with two Scottish investors in the club………… Chelsea sold out because of financial difficulties which they saw from a long way away and were anticipating bankruptcy; Liverpool sold out because they needed funding for a new stadium. Arsenal have already built a new stadium and are presently reaping the fruits of their increased spectatorship and honestly I do not think anybody will want to invest in a club which causes so much grief to their large followership by playing so much good football, having so much talent at their disposal, and constantly not delivering the goods in the form of goals More About: America , Takeover , Take , American , Over
Arsenal suffers crippling defeat at Liverpool
2007-03-31 15:53:00 The Gunners suffered a crippling defeat at the hands of Live rpool who have effectively revenged the three loses they have suffered in the hands of The Arse nal so far this season. Peter Crouch has written his name into the history books by single handedly meting out The Gunners heaviest defeat in recent times. Crouch scored a hatrick as Arsene Wenger’s men fell 4-1 at the hands of their Merseyside rivals. More About: Pool
Arsenal receive £100,000 fine
2007-03-29 22:19:00 Arsenal and Chelsea have each been fined £100,000 by the FA for the actions of their players during the ill fated Carling Cup Final clash when the players got involved in a mass brawl. The two teams have been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute. Now thats a very massive fine for both clubs especially when you take into consideration that both teams have had individuals fined for their actions. Well the FA needs to start recouping some of the money it has spent on self funding the all New Wembley Stadium. More About: Arsenal , Fine , Arse
Arsenal not for sale - YET
2007-03-27 09:27:00 The rumour mill has been trying to sell the news that Arse nal is for sale since it went into partnership with American company Kroenke Sports Enterprises (KSE). This story has been debunked by a spokesman of the American Company who has made it clear that the relationship Arsenal has with them is purely on a marketing level. The Arsenal went into an agreement with Major League Soccer (MLS) team Colorado Rapids in February of this year to promote The Gunners brand in the United States and to help develop the American Club. The planned development plans Arsenal has with Colorado rapids is to help develop a Centre of Excellence in Colorado, to transfer some of Arsenal’s coaching ideas about the beautiful game to its American counterpart and to launch a cup competition -Arsenal Cup which all American teams are eligible to play in. KSE also denied having an interest in buying out ITV’s 9.9% stake in the Gunners. Arsenal is not for sale people -WELL NOT JUST YET. More About: For Sale , Sale
Everton 1 Arsenal 0
2007-03-18 20:15:00 A late goal by Andy Johnson in the dying minute of the game at Goodison Park snatched a chance of coming away with a point. The young Gunners need to grow up and work on their mental strenght so they know how to successfully come out from such games with a point. Arse nal went into the game as the only premiership side without any lose in 2007 but that record was effectively ended in a game which was played in sleet and rain towards the end More About: Everton , Ever , Vert
Gilberto linked with Juventus
2007-03-17 10:22:00 Didier Deschamps the French coach of Italian team Juve ntus is hoping to gain promotion back to the elite squad after the scandal which saw the relegated into the lower division and is planning to sign on Arsenal’s Brazilian midfield machine Gilberto Silva. Arsene Wenger has no plans of selling his most experienced and strongest midfield lynch pin now that The Gunners are in the middle of rebuilding a team for the future. More About: With , Link , Vent
