2008-04-04 18:49:00 The topic of this post is Fernando Alonso and his future at Renault. No question that Fernando is not particularly happy with how his Renault R28 is performing this year and rumors are swirling as to whether he will continue with Renault after this season. A Look at Bahrain International Circuit
2008-04-03 13:26:00 When you look at the map of the Bahrain International Circuit , it is clearly a long straight and high braking corner circuit. This means the old new phrase is back and that is ‘traction control ban’. These high braking corners and extreme acceleration just might bite some drivers if they lack good grip ... Keeping Track of 4 Middle and Lower Teams
2008-04-01 14:49:00 During the season most news is about the top 3-4 teams in the points, obviously because of the championship race. Things in F1 and Beyond That Make You Say…What!
2008-03-27 15:12:00 Some curious things happened on the way to the motorsport office. Michael Schumacher started motorcycle racing, Eddie Jordon erects some concrete at Force India, yes, espionage is everywhere, and finally dirty mouth David Coulthard may become a commentator. Yes, they are things that make you say… “what?” First is the chatter about David Coulthard becoming an F1 commentator. Rumors have it that Coulthard will not be kept on by Red Bull for 2009, and instead he will put on a headset and join the new BBC F1 broadcasts. Well, David has been doing a little commentating himself lately: On the top of his resume is his description of the facilities at Gilles Villeneuve Circuit: “They only have portaloos in the paddock. And as anyone who has crapped in a porta-potty knows, it’s a pretty uninspiring experience.” Next on the resume is a little on the layout of Fuji: “It’s a shit track that must have been designed by someone high on mushrooms.... Fastest Lap Times From the Malaysian Grand Prix
2008-03-24 12:36:00 I thought I’d look at what I can get out of the fastest lap times of the Malaysian Grand Prix and I see some improvements here. First one is BMW-Sauber. Nick Heidfeld with the fastest lap of the race is a huge plus for BMW and from what I read, they are ecstatic about it. Unfortunately for Nick, it was at the end of the race. What is developing here is that there is a new threat for serious championship points now. Although BMW-Sauber aren’t ready to win a championship, they are ready to claim regular podium finishes. By taking big points regularly in races, they will be stealing points that Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes want for their championship hopes. Ferrari has already spoken about this and I’m sure McLaren are thinking about it too. The second thing I see is Honda with Jenson Button. Didn’t hear too much about him during the race, but he did post the 4th fastest lap of the race above Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Robert Kubica of BMW-Sauber. Rubens... New Rule Saying No-Go to Go-Slow in Qualifying
2008-03-23 21:49:00 Just a few days after both McLaren drivers were penalized 5 grid spots for impeding Fernando Alonso and Nick Heidfeld during qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix, changes in qualifying rules are already been proposed. This 60km/hr driving on the race line by Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen was not only a very stupid thing to do, but terribly dangerous as well. If you watched the first video in Qualifying and ‘Cruising at the Malaysian Grand Prix before it was removed from YouTube, near the end of the clip you saw the closing speed of Heidfeld on the McLarens. If this was a blind corner with not much lead up to it, it could have been a disaster. What is proposed is a new qualifying rule imposing a time limit for drivers to complete their slow down in laps during qualifying, therefore preventing them from going too slow. Whatever the change may be, it is hoped to be written in time for the Bahrain Grand Prix next month. Doesn’t it make perfect sense that when yo... More About: Slow , Rule
Raikkonen Wins Rain Free Malaysian Grand Prix
2008-03-23 16:04:00 It was a weekend in Malaysia for Ferrari to bounce back after a dismal outing in Australia with Kimi Raikkonen taking the Malaysian Grand Prix with relative ease. Second Place belonged to Robert Kubica in a fast improving BMW-Sauber F1.08 and Heikki Kovalainen in third place. Jarno Trulli in the Toyota showed that Toyota have good pace this year with an impressive 4th place finish just ahead of a charging Lewis Hamilton who, if not for one poor pit stop would have placed higher. The race began with Felipe Massa on pole and after turn one, Massa kept the lead ahead of Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen. Nick Heidfeld and Jarno Trulli came together lightly, but enough to send Heidfeld down to 10th place. Heidfeld would have a difficult time making up ground the rest of the race from there. First lap bumper cars was limited to just Sebastein Bourdais spinning off into the gravel trap and beaching his car for the day. Lap by lap run down: lap 2 had Massa in the lead edging close to a 1... More About: Free , Rain
