One point away from first place.
2008-02-06 15:08:00 The Montreal Canadiens hosted the first place Ottawa Senators yesterday evening at the Bell centre. The building was filled to capacity and the atmosphere was simply electric.Ottawa striked first early into the game on Chris Kelly's 9th goal of the season. But after the early mistake, Montreal took the game into the Sens' defensive zone for the most part of the first two periods.Andrei Kostitsyn tied the game on the power play with his 16th of the season followed by Tomas Plekanec's 18th of the season on a great feed from Alex Kovalev.During the second period, Montreal kept the pressure on Ottawa. Goaltender Martin Gerber showed signs of weakness on a long shot by Mark Streit. Then Tomas Plekanec scored his second goal of the game and his 19th of the season on another gift from Gerber. Montreal led by 4-1 after two periods.Ottawa did play a lot better during the third period and pulled themselves within a single goal with goals from Jason Spezza and Antoine Vermette. There is no such thing as perfection.
2008-02-04 04:02:00 The New-York Giants have caused a huge commotion tonight as they defeated the New England Patriots and won Super Bowl XLII by the score of 17-14.The Patriots were looking to complete a perfect 19-0 season by wrapping up the honors of Super Bowl XLII. But a late touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress with under a minute to go in the fourth quarter clinched the upset for the Giants. The Giants took the early first quarter lead with a 32-yard field goal from Lawrence Tynes. The lead held up until the second quarter when Laurence Maroney scored the first touchdown of the game for the Patriots with a 1-yard dash. The Pats led 7-3 at the half. Both teams exchanged the lead three times during the fourth quarter. A new Super Bowl record. First, David Tyree caught a 11-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning. New-York (Rangers) wins on Super Bowl sunday.
2008-02-03 22:48:00 At least one New-York team has won on Super Bowl sunday as the New-York Rangers worked on an impressive comeback to win by the score of 5-3 over the Montreal Canadiens.A second matinee game in a row was scheduled at the Bell centre and once again it was a great occasion for the kids to attend to a NHL game with their parents. Many of them were proudly wearing their Canadiens jerseys. The home team brought the crowd alive early on as Andrei Markov and Alex Kovalev scored during the first two power play opportunities for Montreal. Then, a goal on a penalty shot awarded to Sergei Kostitsyn gave a 3-0 lead to the Canadiens early into the second period. But the Rangers completely turned the tables on the Canadiens after a soft goal to Michal Roszival awarded by goaltender Christobal Huet. The Rangers at the end registered five unanswered goals on a fading Montreal team. Brandon Dubinsky, Scott Gomez, Chris Drury and Martin Straka completed the scoring for the NYR.Montreal passed on a great... More About: New York , New York Rangers
Habs wins at home.
2008-02-02 23:50:00 During the Super Bowl weekend, the NHL usually schedules the Montreal Canadiens into matinee games. Today at the Bell centre, it was a great occasion for the younger kids to cheer for their favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens. The New-York Islanders were the visitors in this one but they never were really able to match with the Habs? offensive firepower.Tomas Plekanec with his 17th goal of the season, opened the score for Montreal 37 seconds into the second period with a precise shot from a sharp angle over a kneeled Rick DiPietro in net for the Islanders. After a tying goal from the Islanders, Montreal shifted to another gear. Mark Streit gave the Habs a definitive lead in the game on a great feed from Saku Koivu during a power play. Alex Kovalev added a third goal for Montreal during the second period with a great wrist shot thru a defensemen?s legs. Kovalev now has 23 goals on the season and already produced more points this season than during the entire 06-07 season.Matthieu Dan... More About: Home , Wins

2008-02-02 17:57:00 This is a short clip I have dug out of You Tube showing how dangerous the Rally races can be.Usually for those events, the spectators are standing right by the track while the cars are running at full speed. I think that those people are very brave (or very unconscious) to stand there. Just a small slide or a small mistake from the driver and it can end up in a serious crash with the people standing there. On this clip, we can see a police officer crossing the race track while Sebastien Loeb was coming at full throttle. Loeb missed the police officer by only a mere inch or two.
Guy Lafleur in court on February 7th.
2008-02-02 06:04:00 Guy Lafleur have met the police on thursday morning and everything is now set for a trial. Lafleur?s trial will take place in Montreal and will begin on February 7th. The trial will take place in front of a judge and 12 members of a jury. The story has already made headlines all over America and already different kinds of reactions from the public are coming from everywhere. Some are throwing the stones while some others remember Lafleur?s days of glory and are ready to forgive and forget. Some will plea for a prison sentence, some others for a fine. A couple of others will plea for community work while others ask for a suspended sentence. The police did not open a file of Guy Lafleur?s fingerprints to avoid difficulties if Lafleur was to cross the U.S. border after the story. This is in fact something worth thinking about. Was the police too soft on a person like Guy Lafleur? The case was big enough to issue an arrest warrant but not enough to file Lafleur?s fingerprints in the databa... More About: Court

Renault presents the R28.
2008-02-01 13:13:00 (click on images to enlarge.)Yesterday at the Renault headquarters in Paris, France, the ING Renault F1 team presented the R28 in front of 600 guests. The objective of Renault for 2008 is clear: To win races and score podiums. A noble objective but maybe a little optimistic. Even with McLaren's disqualification, Renault only finished third among the constructors last year. In order to win races and score podiums, the Renault cars will have to step in front of McLaren, Ferrari and BMW-Sauber. Not an easy task.As for the car itself, there are only a few aerodynamic evolutions to the car in comparison to their 2007 race car. The team will keep the same colors, a dominant yellow and orange on a white base.As for the pilots, we note the return of Fernando Alonso with the team after two seasons spent with McLaren. Nelson Piquet Jr will participate to his first full season on the F1 circuit after a full year as the third pilot of the team. Romain Grosjean is the new third pilot for the tea... Arrest warrant on Guy Lafleur.
2008-01-31 06:00:00 Yesterday, an arrest warrant was emitted to a former member of the Montreal Canadiens and NHL legend Guy Lafleur for contradictory statements in court.Guy Lafleur's son, Mark Lafleur, was on probation under conditions as he is filed for 22 different criminal charges committed between 2004 and 2007, including possession and distribution of narcotics, kidnapping, physical and sexual assault on a teenager.Among the conditions of Mark Lafleur, one of them stated that he should stay at his father's residence during the night. A condition that is now proven to have been broken twice in october of 2007 when Guy Lafleur himself drove his son at a hotel for him to meet his new 16-year old girlfriend in privacy. When asked in court about those events, Lafleur denied and tried to protect his son. A big mistake. Now Guy Lafleur himself is dragged in front of justice, a story that is becoming sour for Montreal's ex-number 10.The warrant will be effective on friday morning but Lafleur will meet... Back to work.
2008-01-30 13:29:00 Many NHL teams were back in action yesterday for the final stretch of the regular season. The Montreal Canadiens hosted the Washington Capitals yesterday evening at the Bell centre. After the All-Star game break allowed to the players, the Canadiens head coach Guy Carbonneau was a bit worried. The four days of inactivity could affect his players negatively. The team was on an interesting streak before the break and Carbonneau wanted to make sure that the winning sequence would continue after the break.Montreal did not waste any time to put the game out of reach. Mark Streit opened the score during a power play with a precise shot from the blue line. The game breaker came a bit later as the Capitals were working on a 2-man advantage. Tomas Plekanec intercepted a rink-wide pass and went thru the defense untouched. As he was skating towards the net, the penalty to Sergei Kostitsyn ended and both players were alone with the Caps goaltender, Brent Johnson. Plekanec passed the puck to the ... Honda presents the RA108.
2008-01-29 21:23:00 (click on images to enlarge)Today at the Brackley factory, United Kingdom, Honda presented the RA108, the 2008 version of their Formula One race car. After a catastrophic 2007 season, the Honda Formula One team is looking to rebound from the bottom of the standings. The team cannot do worse in all honesty. A marginal team like Toro Rosso finished in front of Honda in the standings last season. A very bad result for such a known brand like Honda. Both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will be back with the team for 2008 and are established pilots within the team and on the Formula One circuit itself. If indeed the 2008 version of the car really has something to give, the drivers should be able to score points on a regular basis. As for Jenson Button he is somewhat confident for himself as he predicts a serious run at the 2009 title. As for the car?s general look, a brand new color design was presented. From the plain solid green and blue colors of last season, this year the car has ... More About: Presents
Ric Flair: Still stylin and profilin.
2008-01-29 13:34:00 Just a few weeks ago, the chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon, has put a stranglehold on Ric Flair 's legendary career. McMahon stated that Flair's next loss will mean the end of his career. Each and every week, the challenges sent towards the wrestler from Charlotte, North Carolina are getting tougher and tougher. Until last sunday's Royal Rumble, Flair managed to keep his head out of the water by avoiding the career-ending defeat. Even the great Triple H failed to inflict a loss to the Nature Boy during Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago.But at the Royal Rumble, Montel Vontavious Porter, (MVP) the reigning United States champion was standing on Ric Flair's path. I thought that this matchup was too much for the veteran wrestler. But against all odds, Ric Flair took every shot from his opponent and managed to lock in his figure four leg lock in the center of the ring.MVP had to tap out, unable to deal with the painful hold. (Yes the figure four is a painful hold. I tried it on my you...
NHL All-Star game: Eastern conference wins 8-7.
2008-01-28 13:31:00 The NHL presented the 2008 All-Star game yesterday in Atlanta. Many important players missed the match.Sidney Crosby and Dany Heatley were not present to the annual classic because of injuries while star goaltenders Martin Brodeur and Roberto Luongo decided to stay home. Both goaltenders wanted to avoid an injury with the barrage of shots the goaltenders have to face during those games. A very discutable decision from both goaltenders. Both Brodeur and Luongo were voted in by the fans. The 18 644 fans gathered at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta were showered with a lot of goals scored. Rick Nash opened the score for the Western conference team only 12 seconds after the initial puck drop, a new All-Star game record. The old record of 19 seconds was held by Ted Lindsay since 1950.The Eastern conference led by 5-1 after the first period but lost their lead as the game went on. Escape the winter! Go to Key West!

We rolled all the way down until the sunshine state. Jacksonville, Daytona beach, Orlando, Miami and all the way to Key West . We stopped and rented a cabin for a whole week. It was a blast.Key West is unforgettable for it's sunsets. Seeing the big orange ball of fire sink in the waters is a spectacle itself.
