Buffalo Rumblings Authors Mock: Round One
2008-03-17 12:50:00 With more than two weeks fully elapsed since the start of the NFL's free agent signing period, the Buffalo Bills are hitting the home stretch in terms of veteran player additions. The team made an early splash in the period, adding plenty of help to their defensive front seven with the additions of defensive tackles Marcus Stroud and Spencer Johnson along with linebacker Kawika Mitchell. The team has since added tight end Courtney Anderson and is poised to make serious bids to add DE James Hall and CB William James as well. For the most part, however, we as Bills fans can now focus on the next big event - April's NFL Draft. With the Bills re-tooling their needs list (and our community following suit next week), the authors of Buffalo Rumblings - sireric, Kurupt, jri111 and myself - thought it would be prudent to bring to y'all what we're calling the Buffalo Rumblings Authors Mock . Coming to you this week, we'll have seven rounds of mock draft excellence, ripe for your anal... More About: Round
Draft Rules to Live By
2008-03-16 14:06:00 I love the draft and as such I have compiled a short list of rules, generated from some of the great drafters in league history, which are great guidelines for a successful draft. I thought it might be nice to discuss what philosophies people have when drafting. Always take the best player available regardless of position, or never take a wide receiver in the first, that type of stuff. Without further ado, here is what I've got. 1. The More picks the better: this may sound like a no-brainer but it is often ignored (see the Jets 2007 draft.) This is Jimmy Johnson's rule and though I think little of the man, he was a great drafter. Think about it, how many players are on your team 2 years after the draft? Normally about half as many as you drafted, so if you have 5 picks, two years later you might not have much to show for it where as if you have 10 picks you will get more return on your draft. This is why I prefer to trade down as opposed to trading up. 2. Draft at ... More About: Live , Rules

It's a ripping good read, and it should engender a lot of good discussion, so be sure not to miss it! Starting on Monday we'll have our third Rumblings mock draft of the off-season, brought to you by the four authors of Buffalo Rumblings! The triumvirate and myself have each prognosticated all 7 rounds for the Bills; we'll be bringing our drafts to you round-by-round so that you can critique, analyze, or rip our opinions to shred... Johnson Signs with San Francisco; Panda Watch ends
2008-03-14 18:27:00 Johnson preferred a one-year deal (Getty) And that, folks, officially ends our Panda Watch . Free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson, for two weeks linked as a possible signing of the Buffalo Bills, has agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal. The move comes nearly two full weeks after Johnson met with Bills officials and declared that he'd like to join the team in Buffalo. Right now, Buffalo Rumblings can confirm, through information passed our way this morning, that Johnson had more than one offer on the table and the only multi-year deal offered was made by the Bills. Johnson and his agent, Joel Segal, were attempting to work with Buffalo to iron out a one-year deal to play here; clearly, that would not have been beneficial for Buffalo, as it's possible that they could have entered the '09 off-season looking at the possibility of losing Johnson and Lee Evans. It's unfortunate that Johnson chose the one-year route, but the Bills' front offic... More About: Johnson , Signs
Bills Have Enviable Depth at Linebacker
2008-03-14 15:04:00 Crowell finally has help at LB (BuffaloBills .com) Heading into the 2008 off-season, the Buffalo Bills were facing serious issues in their linebacking corps. The team had two solid starters in Angelo Crowell and the still-young Paul Posluszny, but beyond those two talent, there were some major concerns. Add to that the fact that long-time reserves such as Coy Wire, Josh Stamer and Mario Haggan were on their way out of town, and you begin to see the seriousness of the issue. Then, on the first day of free agency, the team signed linebacker Kawika Mitchell, a tough competitor coming off of a Super Bowl victory. That one move alone changed the entire landscape of Buffalo's linebacking corps so that the position went from a team weakness to a team strength. Finally - a Physical Starting Trio Mitchell's addition adds some much-needed size and physicality to Buffalo's linebacking corps - specifically at the weak side position. The team's lightest projected starting lineba... More About: Depth
The Latest in Buffalo Bills Free Agency
2008-03-13 23:54:00 Whew. Good discussion going on today, folks - it's been a whirlwind and a whole lot of fun to see y'all chatting it up. Good day to be a Rumbler indeed. Here's the latest on what's happening with our Buffalo Bills as far as free agency goes: First, an update on WR Bryant "Panda" Johnson - his agent says that he's got three offers and will sign one of them within the next couple of days. The prevailing thought is that two of those deals are one-year offers, and the third is a multi-year offer. That multi-year offer is apparently the Bills' offer. Stay tuned - I've certainly said this before, but we may actually be heading toward a resolution of Panda Watch. As a continuation of The Great DE Debate, the Detroit Lions released veteran Kalimba Edwards today. Edwards was a situational pass rusher in Detroit (under Dick Jauron, no less) and still has enough speed to be a solid fourth defensive end in Buffalo. Personally, I feel he'd be a good investment on a two-ye... More About: Agency , Free , Free agency
The Great Defensive End Debate
2008-03-13 16:44:00 Kelsay: part of the depth, or part of the problem? (BuffaloBills.com) This has been a topic highly and heatedly debated this off-season. We've seen post after post (recent example) and comment after comment regarding the issue. That question is, of course, this: should the Buffalo Bills draft a defensive end in the first round of the 2008 Draft? If you think conversation has been heated over the past couple of days, this should bring that simmer to a boil. There are a few sides to this debate; we'll cover each of those, I'll state my opinion on how defensive end should be addressed, and then y'all will have a chance to rip each other to shreds. We've had a lot of new users register at the site over the past couple of weeks, and I'd like to applaud all of the newbies for (in general) keeping things civil and non-personal during discussions. (I have, however, had to delete a few comments here and there - just keep the profanity in check and the personal insults out,... More About: Great , Debate
Thursday Morning "Panda" Watch
2008-03-13 13:32:00 Johnson shows off his great hands (Photo Source) "Panda Watch !" YouTube may have taken our little running joke from Anchorman down, but the damage has been done - free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson's shiny new official nickname is "Panda". So what's the latest on the Panda? Well, he's still not a member of the Buffalo Bills, which is hardly surprising. Instead, Panda's agent, Joel Segal, is aggressively pitching his client to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite the fact that the Bucs recently signed long-disgruntled wideout Antonio Bryant, the team remains nearly $50 million under the projected 2008 salary cap (most of which they must spend) and still need depth at wide receiver - especially when considering the fact that Joey Galloway is the ageless wonder and the team has been relatively disappointed by the sophomore and junior outings of Michael Clayton (who, apparently, is not a fixer in Tampa). Panda would give the Bucs solid veteran competition for the flig... More About: Morning , Thursday
Johnson Speaks with Titans; Other Bills FA Notes
2008-03-12 13:21:00 Here's hoping I cover Bryant Johnson like Brian Fantana covers pandas. "Bryant Watch!" Anchorman is a pretty polarizing movie - some love it, some hate it - but my daily updates on Bryant Johnson have me feeling a bit like Brian Fantana himself. What's happening with Johnson today? Well, he's still not signed with the Buffalo Bills . Yesterday, the Nashville Tennessean reported that Johnson's agent was speaking with the Titans . No visit has yet been planned to Nashville (as far as we can tell), so Buffalo remains the only destination that the free agent wideout has traveled to in person. Johnson may have been proving that there was a market for his services outside of Buffalo; that's fine, considering the Bills were proving that there are other options for themselves as well. Johnson is turning into the 2008 version of Donte' Stallworth circa 2007. Last off-season, Stallworth was considered to be the top free agent wideouot on the market after a solid season with Donov... Bills Taking Youth Route at Cornerback
2008-03-11 20:24:00 Is Youboty the new nickel back? (BuffaloBills .com) When the 2006 season wrapped up, the Buffalo Bills had one big-name free agent on the market that many felt shouldn't be afforded the opportunity to walk: cornerback Nate Clements. Clements eventually signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and the Bills "rebounded" by relying on veterans Jason Webster and Kiwaukee Thomas, as well as their own developed starter, Terrence McGee. A year later, there's no more veteran influence at the position. Clements is a distant memory, and neither Webster (signed with New England) or Thomas (released by the team) are expected back. In fact, there are only four cornerbacks currently on Buffalo's roster, and the most tenured of them is McGee. A full year removed from cornerback being a team strength, the position has a starkly different look heading into the 2008 season. Youth Trumps Experience Relying on young cornerbacks is not even close to being unique, especially when a team utili... More About: Route , Taking
WR Market Moving on Bills
2008-03-11 13:19:00 Hackett making a trip to Washington (Wire Image) Yes - free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson remains unsigned, and yes, the Buffalo Bills remain the only team he's visited with. Still, it has been reported that Johnson was entertaining at least two offers from other clubs. If either of those teams were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Washington Redskins, Johnson may soon be out of luck weighing his multiple deals. The Buccaneers, thought to be the main competition for Johnson's services, on Monday inked troubled WR Antonio Bryant, who spent the 2007 season out of football. Bryant is a shoo-in to start next to veteran Joey Galloway. If head coach Jon Gruden is as high on Bryant as he seems to be - and the Bucs have tamed ill-tempered players before - Tampa could very well be out of the Johnson sweepstakes. Johnson also was quick to mention a planned trip to Washington when he visited Buffalo last week. That trip has not yet happened, as far as we know, but we do kno... More About: Market , Moving
Bills Ink TE Courtney Anderson
2008-03-10 19:40:00 Less than a week after visiting One Bills Drive, free agent tight end Courtney Anderson has signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills. Anderson, who was drafted by and played his first three seasons with the Oakland Raiders, spent time on four different rosters last season. He did not record a reception in 2007. In his short career, Anderson has proven himself to be a viable, if unspectacular, receiving threat. He has 62 career receptions and six career touchdowns, all accumulated in his first three seasons in Oakland. He is a solid red zone threat with dependable hands, but does not have the speed to stretch a defense down the seam. He will likely adequately replace the departed Michael Gaines' receiving production, but he's still considered a work in progress as a blocker. There's certainly nothing wrong with adding a young, hard-working player that can put points on the board to your roster. Anderson gives the Bills that. While not a move that will generate as much exc...
Bills Fans: Sick of Bryant Johnson Speculation Yet?
2008-03-10 14:15:00 We are now a full seven days removed from free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson 's visit with the Buffalo Bills . It was a week filled with rumors, speculation, and a whole lot of racked nerves as Bills fans hoped to see Johnson signed. As of the time of this posting, Johnson remains an unrestricted free agent - and we're not out of the rumor-filled woods yet. Once again, rumors spread like wildfire last night that the Bills had agreed with Johnson on a six-year, $22 million contract. The rumors cited Sirius NFL Radio as the source; Sirius has since denied the report. This just goes to show you that the old parable is true: don't believe everything you read on the Internet. Just like last week, this week is starting off with conflicting reports on Johnson. ESPN's John Clayton mentioned in a radio appearance last night that a decision from the Johnson camp was expected today. Just like one was expected by the end of the weekend, right? There are also KFFL reports that "c... More About: Fans , Sick
McCree to Denver; Other Bills Notes
2008-03-09 14:44:00 It's now been a full week since the Buffalo Bills made any big moves via free agency, and even though there are literally nine months before the start of the regular season, fans are getting restless. Patience, Bills fans - there's still a lot of time for the team to address its remaining holes, especially offensively. Here's what is being mentioned in the news about our favorite team: Free agent safety Marlon McCree, who visited with the Bills last Monday, has signed with the Denver Broncos. This move is consistent with information that led me to predict this move two days ago. McCree will apparently compete for a starting spot at strong safety with the creaky John Lynch; look for him to win this competition. Tip of the hat to WABillsfan for his diary on the subject. Still no word on WR Bryant Johnson, who was expected to make a decision about his future this weekend. Posluszny Primed for Rebound Season in 2008
2008-03-08 15:46:00 Poz returning from arm injury (BuffaloBills.com) Entering the 2007 season, it's fair to argue that no Buffalo Bills defender had more pressure squarely upon his shoulders than then-rookie middle linebacker Paul Posluszny. One of college football's most feared defenders in his final two seasons at Penn State University, Posluszny was an early second-round pick that was expected to shore up Buffalo's porous run defense based on his reputation alone. We're aware of the rest. Posluszny racked up 25 tackles in the first ten quarters of the season, then breaks his arm in a collision with his own teammate in Week 3's loss to the New England Patriots. Due to the team's rash of injuries, Posluszny was placed on Injured Reserve, cutting short a promising rookie season. Now it's 2008 . Posluszny is reportedly completely healed from his arm injury, and the Bills are counting on him to man the middle linebacker position once again. With the Bills making serious upgrades to th... Bills Sign OG Whittle to New Deal
2008-03-07 17:46:00 Last year's first free agent to leave the market, veteran reserve offensive lineman Jason Whittle, has re-signed with the Buffalo Bills . Injured for much of last season, there were no indications that Whittle received interest from other teams, nor that he was interested in leaving. This is an important re-signing. The Bills were desperately thin behind the starting trio of Derrick Dockery, Melvin Fowler and Brad Butler, especially after the release of Aaron Merz. Whittle's re-signing, coupled with the presence of Duke Preston, likely means that if the Bills look to further bolster depth along the line, they'll do so by searching for a swing tackle who can play inside as well. Update [2008-3-7 14:41:16 by Brian Galliford]: Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports that Whittle's deal is believed to be for one year and $605,000. More About: Deal , Sign
Bills Poised to Miss on Johnson, McCree?
2008-03-07 16:24:00 Johnson weighing his options (Getty Images) The Buffalo Bills are now embarking on the fifth full day of what is being termed the "Bryant Johnson Watch". After visiting with the Bills on Monday, free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson has not yet visited with another franchise, nor has he come to terms with any team interested. What's making matters worse is the fact that Johnson's indecision has caused the Bills to miss out on one other potential acquisition (TE Ben Troupe) and may cause them to miss out on another (S Marlon McCree). The Latest on Johnson My latest information has it that the Bills remain interested in signing Johnson, and by and large the feeling is mutual from Johnson's camp. As we've mentioned here numerous times, the current wide receiver market has been thrown way off balance by the ridiculous contracts handed out to Vikings WR Bernard Berrian and especially Raiders WR Javon Walker. There has been some confirmation of the fact that the Bills a... More About: Johnson , Miss
TE Troupe Signs with Tampa Bay
2008-03-07 02:04:00 Free agent tight end Ben Troupe, who on Monday visited the Buffalo Bills on a free agent tour, has agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. The Bills seemed clairvoyant of this potential signing, as they visited with another free agent tight end, Atlanta's Courtney Anderson, yesterday. Troupe was by far and away the most athletic tight end available on the free agent market, and the only athlete considered to be a difference-maker. His signing all but ensures that the Bills will address the tight end position early in this April's draft. There is still no news on free agent WR Bryant Johnson, though there are reports that he'll make a decision about his next destination soon. Keep an eye on Philadelphia's attempts to trade for Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, as that potential deal could dramatically effect Johnson's value on the market. More About: Signs , Tampa Bay
Au Revoir, Brett Favre
2008-03-06 17:15:00 Click here to see Favre 's press conference streamed live. Sometimes, certain players transcend the game of football. This is a Buffalo Bills blog, and Brett Favre is a transcendent player. Today, the legend is officially announcing his retirement from the game. It has no effect on the Buffalo Bills; like Favre's playing career, it has a profound effect on any football fan. Brett Favre wasn't the greatest quarterback of all time. Nonetheless, he's a legend. He was, at the very core of his mythology, a gunslinger. You'll be hard-pressed to find a quarterback that was as much fun to watch ever again. Au revoir, Brett. You'll be missed. Bills Still Searching for Offensive Impact
2008-03-06 15:36:00 Lynch stood alone as offensive playmaker in '07 (BuffaloBills .com) 252 points - less than 16 per game. 20 offensive touchdowns. Held without an offensive touchdown in a whopping five games - nearly a third of the team's schedule. In 2007, the Buffalo Bills' historically anemic offense achieved all of this, despite playing behind a vastly improved offensive line that only gave up 26 sacks. It's been discussed nearly to death this off-season, but remains an issue for the Bills: the team still lacks playmakers at the offensive skill positions. We know that there are building blocks. There just aren't enough of them. Running back Marshawn Lynch, last year just a rookie, was easily Buffalo's most consistent performer (from anywhere on the roster) last season, rushing for 1,115 yards and accounting for eight scores, or 40% of the team's touchdown production. We can still count WR Lee Evans as well, even if his 2007 production of 55 receptions and five scores was medi... More About: Searching
The Very Latest in Free Agency: Buffalo Style
2008-03-06 00:51:00 Over the past three days, five free agents have met with the Buffalo Bills. As of the time of this posting, none of those free agents have signed any dotted lines with the team. That's not necessarily bad news - there still seems like there's a good chance that any (most?) of these players could be members of the Bills by week's end. For organizational purposes and further discussion, here's the very latest that we know about those five players: Cardinals UFA WR Bryant Johnson: Clearly, this is the name that has been speculated about most. Johnson visited the Bills on Monday, where in an interview with the team claimed to have a visit scheduled with the Washington Redskins. The Redskins have since denied having a scheduled visit from Johnson. We have not heard anything for about 48 hours, other than ESPN's John Clayton reporting that the two sides were still negotiating as of this morning. The problem with getting Johnson (who wants to be a Bill) on board is the contrac... More About: Agency , Free , Style , Free agency
Bills Seek Big Plays, Versatility at Safety
2008-03-05 14:45:00 Whitner could get a new running mate (BuffaloBills .com) After using the opening weekend of free agency to considerably bolster their defensive front seven, the Buffalo Bills have now turned their attention to other matters. Though most of the attention has been placed on the Bryant Johnson watch, the most intriguing free agent that the Bills have hosted over the past two days is former Chargers safety Marlon McCree. McCree, who will turn 31 in less than two weeks, was released by the Chargers as they rid themselves of his large salary. McCree is expected to visit Denver today, and yesterday stated that he'll choose between Buffalo and Denver by the end of the week. He also mentioned, in meeting with the Buffalo press, that he believes he's better suited to playing strong safety. Which begs the question: what exactly are the Bills trying to accomplish in their defensive backfield? Help Needed? Heading into this off-season, I had nascent concerns about Buffalo's depth... Cash to the Cap: Explained
2008-03-05 00:19:00 [editor's note, by Brian Galliford] Ever wondered what the heck "cash to the cap" meant, and how it effected the way that our beloved Buffalo Bills spent money during the off-season? One of Buffalo Rumblings' newest users, mcgrathp, very eloquently answers those questions for you. Here's his explanation of cash to the cap - trust me, it's worth reading the entire article. End Note Is cash to the cap evil? Is it coming for families? Will it hide under your bed and jump out at night and eat you? It has become increasingly obvious to me that there is great misconception about the cash to the cap philosophy. A lack of understanding about its workings has fueled some unrealistic fears. To clarify what this philosophy will bring; No, it is not here for your first born son; No, the cash to the cap is not an inside agent of the Patriots; and, most importantly, no, cash to the cap does not mean the Bills are cheap or are not spending money. Bryant Johnson Watch Continues in Buffalo
2008-03-04 13:15:00 Update [2008-3-4 10:19:14 by Brian Galliford]: As many of you are aware, three more free agents - Titans TE Ben Troupe, Chargers S Marlon McCree and Falcons FB Corey McIntyre - are visiting with the Bills today. Keep it locked in here throughout the rest of the day, as someone will update if anything happens regarding any of the four free agents the team has visited with over the past two days. End Update Free agent WR Bryant Johnson came to Buffalo for a visit. We don't know if he left. What is clear about Johnson's status with the team at this point is that nothing is clear. Were the Bills and Johnson's agent, Joel Segal, negotiating into the night? Are highly speculative reports (once again) that he's got an agreement with the Bills incorrect (once again)? All I know is that after about 36 hours of speculating and being on my toes in regards to this story, I'm ready for something to happen, one way or another. Monday Update: Still No Confirmation on B. Johnson
2008-03-03 14:18:00 Though it was reported last night by Channel 4 news in Buffalo that the Buffalo Bills had reached a deal with Cardinals WR Bryant Johnson , no official confirmation has surfaced to this point. WGRZ reports that Johnson flew in to Orchard Park last night, but according to Bills COO Russ Brandon (via WGR 550's morning telecast), Johnson has not yet visited with the club. Titans free agent tight end Ben Troupe is expected to visit the Bills today as well. It's entirely possible that the Bills have a tentative contract drawn up and agreed upon and are waiting to speak with Johnson before letting him sign the thing. It's also possible that last night's premature reports - all of which cited the same Sirius NFL Radio report - are just flat-out wrong. What we (think we) know for certain is that Johnson is in Buffalo and will meet with Bills brass today. It's possible that the team is simply waiting until tomorrow to make the official announcement; it's also possible that there is no tentative deal. Stay tuned. End Update There are unconfirmed reports, apparently via Sirius NFL Radio, that the Buffalo Bills have a tentative deal in place with free agent WR Bryant Johnson . Updates on Bryant Johnson, Ben Troupe
2008-03-02 21:11:00 As of right now, I think this is the most updated turn of events regarding Bryant Johnson and Ben Troupe.... ESPN is reporting that Johnson IS in Buffalo and working on contract negotiations. Also, from the Tampa Tribune Bucs blog: Troupe leaves Tampa without contract A few things to note: Johnson: The Bills are also meeting today with wide receiver Bryant Johnson. The Bucs, who saw target Devery Henderson re-sign with the Saints late Saturday, have expressed interest in Johnson but he may never make it out of Buffalo. Troupe: Tight end Ben Troupe, who spent all of Saturday visiting the Bucs and negotiating a contract, has left town without signing off on a deal. This doesn't mean he won't come back to Tampa and eventually sign here, but the Bills now have the inside track on signing Troupe as he is headed to Buffalo for a visit there. Looks like both will have a chance to sign today if all goes well. Hopefully, we could get at least Johnson signed. I don't think Troupe... More About: Updates
Open Thread: Bills to Host WR Johnson, TE Troupe
2008-03-02 14:55:00 With three solid defenders added to the roster over the past two days, the Buffalo Bills are now apparently focusing on bolstering their offense. The AP reports, via SI.com, that two more free agents - Cardinals WR Bryant Johnson and Titans TE Ben Troupe - will visit with team officials at One Bills Drive today. The two players are represented by the same agent, Joel Segal. Buffalo is searching for a tall, physical receiver to complement Lee Evans, and the 6'3" Johnson fits the bill. With WR Bernard Berrian getting $7 million per season and $16 million guaranteed from the Vikings, however, it's debatable whether or not the Bills will be willing to spend close to that much money for an upgrade. As Geronimo points out, if the price is right for Johnson, expect the Bills to pursue him aggressively. If he wants too much money, that's fine - the Bills have other options. Troupe is a veteran of four years with vast potential, but who has never quite lived up to the hype. Blesse... More About: Open , Host , Thread
Blogger Interviews: Stroud, Mitchell and Johnson are Bills
2008-03-02 01:28:00 It's an exciting time to be a fan of the Buffalo Bills . Over the past two days, the Bills have been aggressive in significantly upgrading the front seven of their beleaguered defense. Yesterday, the team signed LB Kawika Mitchell of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Today, the splash was even bigger, as the Bills added two (starting?) defensive tackles in former Jaguar Marcus Stroud and former Viking Spencer Johnson . One of our favorite features to run is the good old blogger interview, and it just so happens that the three SB Nation bloggers who know these players best graciously stepped up to the plate to answer questions about the three newest Bills. In a trifecta of interviews, here's what SB Nation's finest had to say about the three newest Bills: USA Today River City Rage, Big Cat Country, on Marcus Stroud: First off, are you going to miss Marcus Stroud? Bills Acquire Jags DT Marcus Stroud, Sign S. Johnson
More articles from this author:2008-03-01 21:55:00 Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com is reporting that the Buffalo Bills have traded their third and fifth round draft picks in the 2008 draft to the Jacksonville Jaguars for DT Marcus Stroud. The move comes after reports broke last night, via the AP, that a deal was off for the three-time Pro Bowl player. Stroud, who will be 30 at the start of the '08 season, has missed 11 games over the past two seasons due to injury and steroid-related suspension. At 6'6" and 306 pounds, Stroud will provide an immediate starting upgrade at the 1-technique spot in Buffalo's Cover-2 defense. Pro Football Talk is reporting that Stroud has re-worked his deal to include more guaranteed money, but his contract is not considered to have a "significant raise". He was due to make $16.5 million over the next three seasons on his current deal, a sum many consider to be the reasoning behind Jacksonville's willingness to shop their star defender.
