Possible Playoff Match Up? Lakers Beat Warriors in OT
2008-03-26 23:02:00 The way the playoffs are shaping up in the West with Lakers being the top dogs at #1 and the Golden State Warriors at #8, it is very possible that when the regular season ends these two very entertaining teams could be on a collision course to meet in the first round of the NBA playoffs. When the Lakers and Warriors meet in back to back match ups earlier this week, it may have been some of the most entertaining basketball we have seen all year. With Kobe Bryant and Stephen Jackson having a three point shootout in the first game which the Lakers came back from a 26 point deficit only to lose on Jackson's late game heroics to Lamar Odom back to back 20+ rebound games and Baron Davis sweet behind the back between two defenders reverse layup (which was so old school), the Lakers vs Warriors match up is a basketball fan's dream! Will it happen? Now, I doubt it, with Duesch bag Dirk going down against San Antonio the other night, I don't think Dallas has what it takes to hold their 7 spo... More About: Match , Beat
Lakers Retro Player of the Week: Sedale Threatt
2008-03-25 21:54:00 This week I got a special request from streetball legend Tomas "The Monk" Middleton to make Sedale Threatt the Lakers retro player of the week, so Monk, here it is!Only the true Lakers fans who have been around since the dark days after the Showtime era know about the immortal point guard Sedale Threatt.Threatt played 14 seasons in the NBA (which is pretty impressive), playing alongside some of the greatest players all time like Michael Jordan (sweet youtube video of MJ and Sedale battling below), Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Julius Erving, Hakeem Olajuwon and of course Lakers legends Magic Johnson and James Worthy.Drafted in the 6th round in the 1983 NBA draft, Sedale Threatt started his NBA career with not a lot faith put into his skills, but one thing that Sedale was good at was proving the doubters wrong. In his 14 years in the NBA, he bounced around quite a bit, but made his greatest impact with the purple and gold when he was traded from Seattle in 1991 for ... More About: Player , Retro , Week
Stephen Jackson Drains a Dagger: Warriors Beat the Lakers
2008-03-25 00:26:00 In perhaps one of the most entertaining and disappointing games for the Lakers this season, the Warriors and the Lakers had an absolute battle which unbelievably went down to the wire!Ugly, ugly, ugly! That is the only way to describe the way the Lakers played on Easter Sunday against the Golden State Warriors. In the first half alone, the Warriors put up 72 points on the Lakers eclipsing what the Sacramento Kings did to the Lakers earlier this month with 71 in the first half.Warriors shooting guard Monte Ellis was virtually unstoppable in the first half scoring 21 points and finishing with 31, but he wasn't the big story as the second half was a whole other ball game with the Lakers going on an inspired run to start the third to bring the lead to only 12 from 23 point deficit. When it came down to crunch time in the fourth, you know who turned it on to get the Lakers back in the game coming back from 26 points down, but even with Kobe Bryant playing inspired basketball and getting p... Down Goes Dirk: Nowitzki Out for At Least 2 Weeks
2008-03-24 23:48:00 I know this isn't really a Lakers update, but I thought all you Mavs haters (that are just like me) would like to know that Dirk Nowitzki is out for the foreseeable future.Hell yeah! First of all, I can't stand that German puss, he has got to be the softest 7 footer in NBA history. Whining after seemingly every shot, flopping on every drive to the basket because he has no clue how to finish, the guy is just a sack and the biggest fluke to win the MVP award, EVER!Well, since I got to vent a little bit, here are the facts. If you didn't see the Duesch bag Dirk go down hard yesterday against the San Antonio Spurs, I suggest you go on youtube and check it out because it was kinda nasty, no, not Shaun Livingston nasty (nothing will ever top that), but pretty nasty.Well right after the game, the most outrageous owner in NBA history Mark Cuban, made a statement that Dirk will probably only be out for 2 weeks (sounds like BS to me) with a high ankle sprain and tweaked knee. Here is my pre... Sports Betting Champ Review: 97% Win Rate on NBA Games This Season
2008-03-24 21:32:00 I don't know how many of you actually bet on the basketball games you watch, I do occasionally, but I thought I would throw this out there to help out any of you die hard gamblers or for those looking to cash in on their basketball knowledge. There are quite a few sports betting systems out there these days, some are complete scams and others are legit, but it is extremely hard to tell the difference.Personally, I am pretty skeptical when it comes to spending my money on something, but when I found Sports Betting Champ I bit the bullet and gave it a try to see if I could make some denero.Well, my gamble actually paid off! Ever since I began using the Sports Betting Champ system, my NBA picks have been damn near flawless! 97% flawless to be in fact! This season in the NBA, John Morrison (creator of Sports Betting Champ and earns $12,000 a week using his system) has picked winners in 74 out of 75 NBA games! One loss in 75 attempts, pretty accurate if you ask me, if Kobe were shooting l... More About: Games , Review , Season , Rate
Lakers Get Even Deeper: Lakers Sign Forward Ira Newble
2008-03-22 03:09:00 In a smart move to make the bench even deeper and a bit bigger the Lakers went out and signed Forward Ira Newble formerly of LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers to a 10 day contract. The Lakers are noticeably thin in the big man department with both Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum (even though they will both be returning soon) out and Ronny Turiaf carrying the load at the 5 spot (which is ridiculous). Turiaf hasn't done a bad job playing the center position for the Lakers in place of Bynum and Gasol, but you have to think it will start wear on the guy considering he is really a true power forward and will be at the mercy of other bigs in the league like Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett. So all and all getting Ira Newble for nothing to help carry the load is not a bad idea!OnToplist.com ranking: Best blogs on sports More About: Sign
Andrew Bynum is Coming Back!!!
2008-03-19 08:51:00 It looks as though Lakers center Andrew Bynum will make his return to the floor this season, but not the regular season.First of all, Thank God! If the kid was every to come back, what a perfect time to do it, in the playoffs, especially with Pau Gasol going down when he did and who knows if he will be a 100% when he returns later this week.Bynum is scheduled to be healthy enough to ball it up around April 18th or 19th, which so happens to be right around the time the NBA playoffs begin.Probably a very smart move by the Lakers because unless they go through a total breakdown or another major injury in the next month, there are in the playoffs with a good seed and frankly they don't need Bynum back right this minute as long as Pau can continue to do what he has been doing.Even when the big kid gets back, he will probably only play limited minutes behind Gasol, which is a good thing, but if he comes back 100% healthy (which is very doubtful) and can put in some quality minutes, I fee... No Gasol, No Problem: Radmanovic Took Over
2008-03-19 08:16:00 Even without Pau Gasol on the floor Tuesday night, the Lakers still seemed to dominate the Dallas Mavericks on both sides of the floor, at least until the fourth quarter came around.By halftime you could here a pin drop at the American Airlines Center in Dallas because of the ridiculous 21 point lead the Lakers had over Dirk Nowitzki and company. The Lakers were just firing on all cylinders, without Pau Gasol I might add, which was very impressive considering without the Spainiard in the middle the Lakers have struggled to close out games and have looked somewhat lost on offense if Kobe isn't scoring every damn bucket.Although the Lakers got out to a commanding lead in the first half, the second half was entirely different with both Jason Kidd and Dirk waking up from the funk of the first two quarters. At the end of the third, the Mavs had cut the Lakers lead to 12 points, 77-65, out scoring the Lakers 27 to 18. In the fourth, it was much of the same with the Lakers just making stu... Lakers Retro Player of the Week: Nick Van Exel
2008-03-18 00:27:00 Anyone who is a true Lakers fan knows who Nick Van Exel is or Nick the Quick as he was once called.Van Exel at one time was the leader of the Lakers, before the Shaq and Kobe days and just after the Magic era, the Lakers was virtually on the shoulders of this explosive point guard from Cincinnati University.Nick the Quick came to the Lakers at a really down time in Lakers history as the showtime Lakers era was over and a massive rebuilding process was underway with Jerry West looking for all the young prospects he could get. Van Exel was best known for his quick first step and a sweeeet tear drop shot in the lane, way before Tony Parker even shot his first basket. Nick was at times an unstoppable force on offense as he was the only one on the Lakers with true offensive skills. A Great perpetrator, superb passing ability and a deadly outside (which he became known for later in his career) Van Exel helped the Lakers get to the Lakers along with new comer Eddie Jones and Cedric Ceballo... Houston Rockets Extend Winning Streak to 22 Games
2008-03-18 00:02:00 Who has 2nd longest winning streak in NBA history? Was it by Jordan's Chicago Bulls in the 90's? Nah.Did Shaq and Kobe combined to make NBA history with the great Lakers teams at the beginning of the century? Nope!Maybe it was Magic's showtime Lakers back in the day? Not even close. It is a team lead by Tracy McGrady without the tallest and one of the best centers in the league, Yao Ming. Yeah, the Houston "haven't done anything since Hakeem" Rockets have won an unbelievable 22 games in a row!How are they doing this without Yao? Who knows? How are they doing this with a bunch of role players and Tracy McGrady? I don't know, but they could definitely teach the Lakers and Kobe Bryant a few things right now without Pau and Bynum. With the Rockets win over the struggling Lakers on Sunday Houston made history virtually coming out of nowhere. After all the blockbuster trades and an incredibly good and competitive Western Conference, some how, some way, the Rockets have quietly shocked ... More About: Games , Houston Rockets , Winning
Gasol Goes Down: Will Miss The Rest of the Lakers Road Trip
2008-03-17 23:26:00 Bad News Bears: Pau Gasol goes down with an ankle injury and will be out for the next 3 games (Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz)Just when the Lakers started to get comfortable and healthy, their newest addition Pau Gasol goes down hard at the wrong time.First of all, where the hell is Andrew Bynum? I heard, just like everyone else, that he was going to be out 8 weeks. I know they said a minimum of 8 weeks, but come on man, throw us a bone and tell us when the Lakers future is coming back. Now more than ever, Bynum needs to be back in this lineup, even if he only plays limited minutes, the Lakers without Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum are completely exposed in the middle and lost on the offensive end.Initially, the injury report I heard had Gasol sitting out 3 games, but once again this has the 'minimum" tag put on it's time table, so who the hell knows when the Spaniard is going to suit up again. In the meantime, the Lakers have to face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, the ... More About: Miss , Trip , Rest , Road Trip , Road
Watch Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers Online for Free
2008-03-15 02:41:00 Well after many missed Lakers games, especially the one that Kobe Bryant went off for 81 points and made NBA history (still mad about that), I decided to find a way to watch the boys in purple and gold play besides the times that they were on the local channels and not have to pay for expensive satellite TV.After about a month of constantly searching I figured out a way to do it, a very cheap and inexpensive way to do it, in fact, instead of paying the ridiculous monthly satellite TV payments every month to DirectTV or Dish Network, I paid a one time fee for lifetime access to being able to watch my beloved Lakers whenever they play with satellite TV on my PC.I don't know how computer savvy you may be, but even if you aren't it doesn't even matter because the only real computer knowledge you need is how to download and if you know how to do that (which anyone with an iPod does) downloading satellite TV on you PC software will be no problem for you. This software isn't limited to ... Who's the NBA's MVP? Kobe Bryant or LeBron James
2008-03-10 01:41:00 Once again it has come down to that part of the season when basketball fans start asking questions like: Which team is the best in the NBA? Who will make it to the NBA finals? Who is the MVP? All very good questions and all very close races, especially who will be this season's MVP!It all boils down to about 4 players that will be considered for highest individual NBA award, Chris Paul, point guard of the surprisingly good New Orleans Hornets. Kevin Garnett, the backbone of the Boston Celtics who are looking more and more like the favorite to win the East. LeBron James with unbelievable play as of late, like the 50 he put up on the Knicks recently and finally, my boy, Kobe Bryant who is the leader of quite possibly the best team in the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers. Now obviously I am going to have a bias opinion (Kobe wins hand down!), but it is always interesting to take a look at all the MVP candidates (losers) in the MVP chase (they all have equal chance, nah, who am I kidding, Ko... No Challenge: Lakers Embarrass the Clipps With a 37 Point Blowout!
2008-03-09 01:11:00 Bring on KG and Boston, bring on the Pistons, Spurs ain't got nothing on the Lakers , LeBron who? It looking more and more obvious that the Kobe Bryant and the red hot Lakers are the team to beat as they just seem to either wipe the floor with a opponents or kick ass in the fourth quarter to take down somewhat worthy foes. Kobe is playing like the NBA's MVP, Pau Gasol fits like a glove and the Lakers bench is playing with as much confidence as the starters are. The Lakers are just simply the best in the NBA! May sound like a bold statement and I just might be regretting these words come playoff time, but I have to say these guys look as good as I have ever seen them. So much so, that I believe that this team could have competed against the Lakers championship teams from 2000-2003, they just look solid on all aspects of the game. As for the Clippers, it is back to the lottery once again! You would figure with so many disappointment in this franchises history that some drastic chang... More About: Challenge , Point
Three Headed Monster: Kobe, Pau and LO Take Down the Kings in a Come From B
2008-03-05 08:35:00 Kobe Bryant showed his MVP play making ability, Pau Gasol displayed his inside presence and excellent free throw shooting and Lamar Odom crashed the glass while shooting 80% from the field. The three headed monster of Kobe, Pau and Lamar Odom saved the Lakers from an embarrassing loss in one of the hardest places to play in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings ' Arco Arena, all them grabbing 10 boards (LO with 12) and combining for a lethal 84 points. The Kings basically dominated the Lakers all night long with Ron Artest, Kevin Martin and John Salmons playing at a high level, keeping the Lakers on their toes by playing aggressive defense, in fact, very aggressive defense as quite a few fouls the Kings put on Kobe, Pau and the boys were pretty close to flagrants and a little over the top, but even with the hard fouls the Lakers were able to pull it together much like they did at home against Dallas and beat the Kings 117-105.Although the score doesn't reflect the Lakers hard fought battle a... Playoff Atmosphere: Lakers Beat the Mavericks in Overtime
2008-03-04 03:53:00 Damn! What a game! And as you can tell, Jack likes it!! Looks like every game between the heavyweights in the Western Conference from here on out are going to be an absolute battle from start to finish, with every game having major implications on the 1-8 seeding in the West playoff race. All I have to say is "MVP, MVP, MVP", Kobe Bryant is playing better and more like the Most Valuable Player than he ever has in purple and gold. Granted the guy had a poor shooting performance for the line in the first half 3 for 10 (sounds more like Shaq), but once he got back on the floor in the second half and in the eventual overtime, he was unstoppable! The Mavericks had absolutely no answer for Kobe constantly attacking the basket as he either scored or was put on the free throw line the entire night through out the game, shooting a total of 27 free throws, finishing with 52 points and 11 rebounds (including the offensive rebound off of Lamar Odom's brick that sealed the game for the Lakers ).Al... The Streak Ends at 10: Blazers Get Revenge at Home
2008-03-02 01:43:00 Well it couldn't last forever and all good things must come to an end at some point, but 10 wins straight for the Lakers is pretty impressive for a team that couldn't win more than three in a row last season. The Blazers came into Friday night's game against the red hot Lakers looking for some revenge after blowing a 13 point lead a couple nights earlier, but this time they had their superstar Brandon Roy back and healthy to give the Lakers and Kobe Bryant a good run for their money. The game started as expected with the Lakers getting off to a good lead, but the Blazers kept coming back with a vengeance with a great team effort as Roy was getting everyone involved with his game high 12 assists. After the Blazers got the momentum, the Lakers started a horrible shooting display as everyone in purple and gold seemed to be off, especially from deep with only 5 three pointers on 27 attempts (Fisher 0-6, Kobe 2-8, Sasha 2-8).Although still in the game late in the fourth, nothing went rig... Lakers Rally Against the Trailblazers to Win 9 Straight
2008-02-27 08:58:00 The big story of the night wasn't that the Lakers 9 game winning streak or how Kobe and company are still #1 in the Western Conference, but how good the Portland Trailblazers will be in the years to come.Arguably the Los Angeles Lakers are the best team in the NBA right now, but the way the Trailblazers were playing on Tuesday night at the Staples Center, you would have thought that they were right up there on top of the West as well.Granted the Blazers have a few years ahead of them before they become one of the NBA's elite, but one thing is for sure, they will be a tough team to compete with down the road lead by All Star Brandon Roy who sat out this game with a sprained right ankle that he injured against the Boston Celtics last Sunday. This game was back and forth almost all game long with some surprisingly good performances from future All Stars LaMarcus Aldridge and Travis Outlaw who looked solid picking up the slack for the injured Roy scoring a combined 42 points. The Lakers... Even International Fans Showin' the Love as the Lakers Destroy the Superson
2008-02-25 06:33:00 Bring on the REAL challenge!!Over the past couple of seasons the Lakers have struggled against even the worst teams like the Seattle Supersonics, but not any more as the Kobe and Pau show continue to destroy any team in their path.It was almost as if the Lakers weren't trying because the Supersonics looked like a high school going up against Kobe and company Sunday night in Seattle. Kevin Durant wasn't even a factor in this one (shot a horrible 4 for 13) as the Lakers defense kept him and the rest of the Sonics in check all night long.Seven of the ten Lakers that took the floor against the Sonics scored in double figures Sunday showing that the Lakers still have the deepest bench in the league. Once again Jordan Farmar and Sasha "the Machine" Vujacic had great nights coming off the bench as the two combined for 25 points and 5 for 11 from behind the arc, giving Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher much needed and deserved rest. Lead by both Farmar and Vujacic, the Lakers bench seems very ... More About: International , Love , Fans
Lakers Win the Battle of Los Angeles Yet Again!
2008-02-24 07:41:00 About two seasons ago, when the Lakers took on the Clippers, it was actually a competitive match up, but now with Pau Gasol in the lineup and a really banged up Clippers squad, it is just another easy game for the Lakers.#1 in the Western Conference, it's official, with this 113-95 blowout win for the Lakers over the Clippers, the purple and gold are now the top seed in the West with a 38-17 record and tie breakers above the New Orleans Hornets and the Phoenix Suns.A new day has dawned in Lakers basketball and looks to have no intention of slowing down as the Lakers just keep rolling with consistent contributions from their big three in Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol.Kobe kind of took it easy against the Clipps only taking 11 shots and scoring 17 points, but he didn't need to have a monster games as Pau and Odom picked up the slack combining 43 points. Lamar continues to look comfortable with Gasol in the lineup as he is constantly getting good, open looks at the basketball... More About: Los Angeles , Battle , Angeles
Rivalry Renewed: Los Angeles Lakers vs Phoenix Suns
2008-02-22 01:16:00 In a match up that the Phoenix Suns have completely dominated over the last few years, beating the Lakers in two consecutive playoffs series, Kobe Bryant and company may have finally surpassed Nash and now Shaq's Phoenix Suns .Wednesday night in Phoenix, the revamped Suns with addition of ex-Laker center Shaquille O'Neal took on the Kobe and the revamped Lakers with Pau Gasol in the middle. This match up was destine to be a classic and it that it was.Kobe was for lack of a better word, unstoppable! Number 24 scored 41 points in a game that looked like a classic Western Conference battle of the past as both teams combined for 254 points scored (Lakers 130, Suns 124) in a shootout and quite possibly the most entertaining game of the season!Shaq played decent in his Suns debut scoring 15 points and grabbing 9 boards, but the Suns had no answer for the Lakers three headed monster of Lamar Odom (22 points), Kobe (41) and Pau Gasol (29).The Suns looked good, especially Amare Stoudamire w... Kobe Bryant's Pinkie: To Have Surgery Or Not?
2008-02-20 09:09:00 Well, if you are an NBA fan (especially a Lakers fan), then you know about the biggest and most famous pinkie on the planet, Kobe Bryant's pinkie.A couple of weeks ago the Lakers took on the New Jersey Nets on their ridiculous 9 game road trip and on a possession in which then Nets Jason Kidd guarded Kobe Bryant on a switch, he smacked Kobe's hand (pinkie) trying to go for the ball, result: dislocation. At the time the injury didn't seem that serious and just one of those injuries that happen often like the occasional rolled ankle, basketball to the face or soreness in the knees and all was well until the Lakers played the Minnesota Timberwolves just before the All Star game when Kobe reinjured his pinkie and actually tore some ligaments. It's not that bad? Yeah, maybe, but when you get advised to get surgery and be out for 6 weeks from the best doctors and trainers money can buy, you might want to think otherwise. Now the Lakers are arguably playing the best basketball in years wi... Lakers Get Their Revenge On the Hawks
2008-02-20 08:13:00 What Pinkie? What All Star Break? The Lakers could only be definied with one word against the Hawks , Impressive! Talk about a turn around, the Lakers just absolutely dominated the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night at the Staples Center in a 122-93 victory with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol sitting out of the fourth quarter. In Mike Bibby's first game as an Atlanta Hawk and Pau Gasol's first game at home, the Lakers looked pretty damn good, especially on defense. The Hawks just seemed helpless against Kobe and company with turnover after turnover and the Lakers capitalizing on every one of them.Kobe and Pau Gasol continued their awesome chemistry by both adding 23 points to the score and connecting on the sweetest around the backpass from Kobe to Pau who finished with a reserve layup, beautiful basketball!Lamar Odom had a good night as well helping the Lakers get out to a 41 point lead at point over the Hawks and grabbing 15 rebounds. 9 Game Road Trip is Over, Lakers Take 7 Out of 9 with Win Over the Timberwo
2008-02-14 06:52:00 The longest road trip in Lakers history is officially over and the outcome was better than anyone could have predicted as Kobe and company won an impressive 7 out of the 9 games (should have been 9-0).The Lakers finished their extremely long road by absolutely destroying the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, beating the Timberwolves by 25 points, 117-92.Lamar Odom was a big part of the Lakers 25 point victory as he had a triple-double scoring 10 points, grabbing 16 rebounds and dishing 10 assists. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol also had good games, combining for 48 points.Sasha Vujacic also continues to play well off the bench scoring 15 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the floor being the Lakers leading scorer off the bench. Now it is time for the All-Star break, but just around the corner the Phoenix Suns and Shaq are waiting to play the Lakers on the 20th, which will probably turn out to be one of the best West match ups of the season.NEXT LAKERS GAME: Atlanta Hawks at Los Ange... Blockbuster Trade #3: Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks
2008-02-13 23:46:00 It appears that the third blockbuster trade of the regular season (fourth trade technically if you count the KG trade in the off season) is going down and it will send New Jersey Nets triple-double machine Jason Kidd and forward Malik Allen to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, ex-Laker Devean George and Mauric Ager.Wow! Another monster trade goes down and makes the Western Conference even more competitive and down right scary. First Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers, then an almost immediately counter by the Phoenix Suns getting Shaq from Miami and now one of the best point guards all-time, Jason Kidd going to make a dominant trio alongside Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki.Just when you thought that the Lakers would run the table in the West, Phoenix gets Shaq and Dallas gets Kidd. Another Big Night for Gasol and Kobe
2008-02-12 07:41:00 With every passing game Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant's chemistry seems to move up a notch or two as they continue to click game in and out on this extremely long road trip (9 games straight).Against the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday, the two didn't combine 66 points like they did against the Orlando Magic (pretty close though, 57 points), but they both had commendable performances with Kobe scoring 31 on an impressive 9 for 17 (4 for 7 from deep) from the field and Gasol added 26 points owning the paint and hitting his short range jumpers. The Bobcats didn't really stand a chance in this game as the it was basically over in the first 10 minutes of the opening quarter. Gasol was on fire and the Bobcats had no answer and like I said earlier, the chemistry was working to perfection between Kobe and the big Spaniard. In the second half the Bobcats began to rally a little bit, but there lack of defense was the killer as they couldn't stop Kobe or the Lakers perimeter passing and the Lakers ... Kobe and the Lakers Prevail Over Dwyane Wade and New Look Miami Heat
2008-02-11 00:19:00 First of all, I have to say the Miami Heat look a lot better than I thought they would in the post Shaq era with Shawn Marion in the mix. Without the big fella in the middle the Heat are a faster, run and gun, and all around better defensive team. They actually look alive out there and much improved from the blockbuster trade early in the week.Even though the Heat looked good and played well on the defensive end against the Lakers, Kobe Bryant and his boys were too much for Dwyane Wade and Shawn Marion as the Lakers outscored the Heat in every single quarter.Kobe had his usual 30+ points, but I believe it was Lamar Odom that clinched the 104-94 victory for the Lakers on Sunday as he absolutely dominated the glass with 18 rebounds and added 15 points on 6 or 11 from the field. Pau Gasol on the other hand didn't have his best game with only 12 on 4 of 10 shooting and 7 rebounds. It looks like Lamar is playing very comfortably as the third scoring option behind Kobe and Gasol and has f... Deadly Combination: Kobe & Pau Combine for 66 Points
More articles from this author:2008-02-10 00:35:00 The future in LA is looking brighter and brighter with every passing game for the Los Angeles Lakers as Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant seem to have the right chemistry to get the job done and take the Lakers to the promiseland.Friday night in Orlando, Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol combined for 66 points (Pau 30, Kobe 36) in a victory over Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic showing the two have already gotten some much needed chemistry only three games into Gasol's time with the Lakers. The Magic came out hot in the first quarter scores 44 points, torching the Lakers from deep, but it wasn't long before Pau and Kobe just took over the game and pulled out the victory for the purple and gold. The Lakers came out hot in both the second and third quarters with help off the bench from Sasha Vujacic who hit 3 out of his 4 three point attempts to keep the Lakers in the game and rally from a 11 point deficit.Eventually the one-two punch of Gasol and Kobe turned out to be too much for the Magic as t...
