Lakers Completely Dominate the Utah Jazz

Wow!! The Lakers were playing like a championship caliber team absolutely destroying the Utah Jazz with a 30 lead throughout most of the game. Kobe Bryant and company were just firing on all cylinders with everyone contributing and playing solid defense.The most impressive part about the Lakers 123-109 rout of the Utah Jazz was their defense which shut down both of Utah's superstars Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams keeping them to 26 points combined on 9 of 24 shooting from the floor.All of the Lakers starters and even Jordan Farmar(14 points) in 25 minutes off the bench scored in double figures. I think Trevor Ariza's dunk over Grant Hill said it all (he also had 14 points and 7 rebounds, oh, and the dunk of the year!), the Lakers didn't dominate the Phoenix Suns, but they definitely looked like the better team on Christmas Day at the Staples Center.After watching the Lakers handle the team that kicked them around in the playoffs last year it has become apparent that Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum are quickly turning into one of the NBA's best trios with Kobe playing like Kobe (and not having to score 50 to win), Lamar actually playing up to his potential and Andrew Bynum contributing the way the Lakers had hoped he would.Before these two squared off on Christmas Day, the Suns had been somewhat of an achilles heel for the Lakers, knocking them out of the playoffs two straight seasons and just flat out being the better team each time they played each other, but not this year (Lakers are 2-0 against the Suns this season), things are definitely changing in Lakerla...

Kwame Brown to Practice On Monday

Can't say that any Lakers fan would be really ecstatic to hear this, but Kwame "Butterfingers" Brown will be back from his ankle/knee injury that kept him out of 17 games this season. He should be ready to practice on Monday and who knows maybe he will be even in the lineup for the Christmas Day match up against the Phoenix Suns (yeah right). Kwame coming back will come just at the right time as Chris Mihm has missed the last three games which forced an undersized Ronny Turiaf to backup Bynum at the center position.Not great addition to an already good Lakers squad, but at least it will give some relief for Andrew Bynum who is with out a doubt the new starting center for years to come for the Los Angeles Lakers.OnToplist.com ranking: Best blogs on sports

In their first battle of the year, LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers came out on top beating Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers 94-90.First of all, this game was not as close as the score dictates. It's official! The best team in Los Angeles is still the "REAL" NBA franchise in LA, the Los Angeles Lakers. Not the way any team would want to beat the the San Antonio Spurs without their two best players in Tim Duncan and Tony Parker , but Kobe and company will take it!The Lakers dominated all aspects of this game beating the Spurs both offensively and putting a new found defensive pressure on the Spurs that kept the defending NBA champs out most of the game. A legitimate winning streak has begun for the Los Angeles Lakers after taking down Baron Davis and the high powered offense of the Golden State Warriors 123-113. Rockin' the old school jerseys (love those jerseys), Kobe and company showed up to play Sunday night in Los Angeles.Three in a row against good teams, at least two out of three were good teams. This is just speculation, like all trade talks and rumors, but from what I heard that a trade between the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers was in the works and almost went down today and you know who was right in the middle of it!Yep, Kobe Bryant was involved in yet another trade rumor, this time it was a very beneficial trade for both sides, if you can believe that! There were a few scenarios being tossed around, but basically it was going to be Kobe Bryant for Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Price. There is no question that Orlando Magic's center Dwight Howard is the next big man superstar in the league, but can Kobe Bryant pull his defense together and stop the best center and the revamped Magic? After totally embarrassing the Denver Nuggets the night before, the Lakers get a taste of their medicine when they went up against the Utah Jazz Friday night in Utah.Coming into Friday's game, the Lakers seemed to have an advantage with the Jazz's all-star forward Carlos Boozer sitting on the bench with an injury, but little did they know that Andrei Kirilenko, Deron Williams and Paul Millsap were more than ready to pick up the slack in place of Boozer.These three guys were just ballin' it up, firing on all cylinders all night long! Deron Williams was slashing, dishin' and hitting his jumpers, scoring a game high 35, Kirilenko was virtually unstoppable on both end of the floor almost getting a quadruple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 6 steals and 4 blocked shots. Sasha, Sasha, Sasha...where have you been? Finally, Sasha Vujacic has a performance worth talking about as he scored a career high 22 points, 19 of which came in the last 12 minutes of the fourth quarter. Vujacic wasn't the only one off the bench having that contributed, Luke Walton and Jordan Farmar also had an impressive day with Walton scoring 14 points and Farmar adding 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 19 minutes of play.Andrew Bynum continues to step up with yet another double-double as the big kid scored 12 and ripped down 13 boards, but he did struggle from the line only hitting two out of six free throws. After a long and drawn out wait, the Zen Master Phil Jackson finally decided to sign a contract extension and stay coaching the Los Angeles Lakers for another 2 seasons for reportedly a little less than 24 million dollars.What the hell was he waiting for? 24 million dollars! For two years worth of work, are you kidding me? I know anyone in professional sports gets paid good, I mean an unbelievable amount of money, this deal was like winning the lottery for Jackson. Hmmmm... sure, I will coach the best franchise and best player in the NBA for 12 million a year, I guess, if I have to.I got much love for the almost crippled Zen Master, loved him through the Michael Jordan era and when Shaq daddy was in town, but damn, way to string us all along.
