Slate Plays Loose With Facts Over Concealed Carrier's Arizona Actions
2011-01-14 21:30:00
-By Warner Todd Huston Contrary to Senator Moynihan's proclamation, Slate's William Saletan thinks he's entitled to his own facts. If not his own facts, then his own version of history at any rate. Anti-Second Amendment Saletan dreamed up his own little set of incidents and actions in order to castigate pro-Second Amendment supporters by claiming that something that didn't happen could have happened and that, ipso facto, because it could have the Second Amendment is bad -- all this based on his dreamy little dream of an alternate history. Saletan's January 11 piece was written after he discovered that one of the citizens that responded once the shooting started in front of that grocery store in Tucson had a concealed...
On not naming the Arizona Shooter

Jim Geraghty echoes my thoughts: You?ll notice I rarely write the gunman?s name. This is deliberate. The following conversation occured yesterday as a result of me posting a Keith Olbermann clip on my Facebook page. For clarity's sake Mr. F. (the person I'm speaking to) is a conservative Facebook friend of mine from Ohio and we have frequent political discussions regarding numerous topics. He despises Keith Olbermann, so the fact that he even watched the clip was in itself a minor miracle. This was my response to the foolishness surrounding the shootings in Arizona:

Gabrielle Giffords shooting in Arizona

A sinister shrine reveals a chilling occult dimension in the mind of the deranged gunman accused of shooting a member of Congress and 19 others. After Arizona tragedy, it's time to dial down the political rhetoric
2011-01-10 16:15:00
We have been living in a highly charged political climate. In that environment, Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others were shot outside of a grocery store where the Congresswoman held an event Saturday afternoon in Tucson, Arizona. After the attack on the Congresswoman, many people are coming forward asking for more civility in our political discourse. Arizona Republican Representative Trent Franks said that we need to be more tolerant of each other and opposing viewpoints. "True tolerance is not pretending to have no differences. It's being kind and decent to each other in spite of those differences.... Ultimately, if we don't have a more loving respect for each other we really have no hope as a society."

Even As Arizona Shooting Story Unfolds, Some Media Already Blaming Tea Part
2011-01-09 04:35:00
-By Warner Todd Huston Even as the early, sketchy details of the shooting incident in Arizona were still emerging some members of the left-leaning media were already trying to tie the killer to Tea Party activism in general and Sarah Palin in particular. Andrew Sullivan of the Atlantic.com was early to attempt to link lunatic killer Jared Loughner to the Tea Party, but he wasn't the only one. The Washington Post's Sandhya Somashekhar immediately attempted to color the story as an example of the "militant rhetoric" of the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin....

OK, so you're the starting quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals. You just got blown out at home by a 3-7 San Francisco 49ers team. Late in the game, a game in which you were pathetic, you're seen laughing on the bench with a lineman. Oops. After the game, a member of the media called out Derek Anderson on why he was apparently in a good mood. His response? Really? Based on his performance on Monday night, he's right. He did put his heart and soul into sh**. He played like sh**. And he lacks the professional mindset to take his job seriously while getting blown out? The media member pressed the issue after Anderson clearly backed away from the question. OK. But the...

Raul Grijalva?s Office Hit By Terrorist Attack In Arizona
2010-10-22 17:16:00
From an email by Daily Kos Markos Moulitsas, the Progressive Caucus Co-chair Raul Grijalva (D - Arizona) is fighting for his reelection life in Arizona because he was against that state's psychotic illegal immigration law SB 1070. Rep. Raul Grijalva?s Office has been hit now by not one, but two terrorist attacks, the latest one in a mail that had "An envelope arrived with swastikas drawn on the outside and a white powdery substance on the inside," said Adam Sarvana, Grijalva?s spokesman. This is scary. It's enough for Arizona to have people so screwed up they have to pass laws to feed their racism, but to go the extra mile and threaten the life of a political candidate is criminal. Literally. According to the Daily Kos: Grijalva received death threats in April, shortly after SB1070 was signed into law and he called for a boycott in response. He closed his Tucson and Yuma offices as a result...In July, after he called off the boycott, staffers found a bullet and a shatter...

I once dated a girl who often claimed that she appeared in an early "Girls Gone Wild" video. That "film credit" is banal and boring compared to the co-eds in this clip.
