I began with the outside of the car to wash away the road grime, remembering to clean the wheel arches, and the inner panel of the doors. Richards, speaking in an Autocar interview, said the speculations are a result of Aston's talking to suppliers in an effort to secure a new engine contract, as the maker's current one with Ford expires in 2012. "The company is not for sale," he said. One of the parties Aston was in talks with included Mercedes-Benz, believed to be bidding for the British marque, but it now seems the two were discussing powerplant. ?We are talking to Mercedes, but then we are talking to Ford and we talk to everybody,? 2008-05-24 00:17:00 Anything you can do I can do better: 2009 Aston Martin DB9 gets boost in power, other upgrades Not to be outdone by the improvements to the "lesser" V8 Vantage, Aston Martin has announced its upgraded DB9 for the 2009 model year. As with the 2009 V8 Vantage, changes are subtle but promise to make for a better all-around car. Like the V8 Vantage, the DB9 will be getting a boost beneath its bonnet. The 6.0L V12 remains, but power gets a bump from 450 horsepower to 470, with torque figures checking in at 442 lb-ft. The new gusto can whoosh the DB9 from naught to sixty in 4.6, on its way to a top speed of 190 mph. Handling should also be improved for 2009, thanks to a revised chassis and an upgraded suspension. Also like the V8 Vantage, the DB9 will receive a new center console and switchgear — which is finished in iridium silver — and will get a new Emotion Control Unit (ECU). Italian state TV has shown footage of the waterlogged and smashed DBS being hoisted from the lake. The original DBS featured in the 1969 film ‘On Her Majesty's Secret Service’ while the latest incarnation is well known for it’s fleeting but record-breaking appearance in the recent 007 film, Casino Royale in 2006. In Casino Royale the DBS made a cameo appearance – on screen for a matter of seconds – but it made an impact and entered The Guinness Book of World Records by rolling seven times in the air before it crashed. Powered by a front mid-mounted 6-litre V12 that screams to 6500rpm and maxes out at 380kW of power and 570Nm of torque the new DBS is definitely race material.
