10 Things You Might Not Have Known About BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Star Michael
2009-07-14 17:58:00
The mysterious, the enigmatic, the press shy Michael Hogan is a mystery no more. For the actor, who famously shunned interviews and conventions during the course of his critically acclaimed four seasons stint playing BATTLESTAR GALACITCA’s Col. Saul Tigh for fear that it would dilute the power of his performance is now doing a victory lap on the convention circuit as a thank you to his most important critics, the fans. Which is where this TV Addict had the privilege of catching up with him, at this weekend’s Polaris Convention 23 in beautiful Toronto Canada and why we’re thrilled to be able to bring you 10 things you might not have known about BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Star Michael Hogan. He almost didn’t bother auditioning for the role: “I hadn’t seen the original BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, so when I found out they were doing it [the re-imagined series] I wasn’t really interested in it,” explained Hogan, who credits director Michael Rymer for e...

The Battlestar Galactica finale is properly entitled “Daybreak II” and it will be available on Hulu this coming Saturday. Our BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Series Finale Recap
2009-03-21 19:34:00
Regardless of whether you thought last night’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series finale was “Frakkin’ Fantastic!” or the biggest letdown since THE SOPRANOS faded-to-black, I think there is one thing all fans (be them human or Cylon) can agree upon. Ronald D. Moore Frakked us again by giving us the most unexpected ending of all: A relatively happy one. So before we get into our very own post-finale-data-stream-of-cons-ciousness, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Moore for not only delivering a thrilling and emotional ending that will be debated both online and off for years to come. But for providing fans with four seasons of remarkable stories, characters that we will never forget, and best of all, a spin-off (CAPRICA) that’s coming to DVD in less than a month (Seriously, thank the Gods!) Before BATTLESTAR GALACTICA reaches what will hopefully be a thrilling conclusion this Friday, the TV Addict wanted to take this opportunity to leave you with five choice words: Please don’t Frak this up. Because the truth is, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t worried. Not only have these final string of episodes been a massive letdown in the edge-of-your-seat-excitement department, what you yourself had to say about the importance of ‘plot’ in a recent interview with BSG uber-critic Maureen Ryan does little to assuage our fears. Here’s the episode from last week, just in case you missed that one. “Daybreak” vid to show up this coming Saturday I looked on Hulu for a clip of Deadpan Chick giving a recap of “Daybreak,” and it’s not up yet. I’m really sorry about not posting the BSG post. I’ll post that on Friday morning, which leads up to the next to last episode. It’s hard to believe the show’s almost over. The reinvention of the cheesey 1970’s franchise has been brilliant, despite Ronald D. Moore coming up with some half-baked ideas. I’m still appalled he ...

Dear TV Addict, as much as I loved last week’s mythology-laden episode BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, please tell me tonight’s episode involves a lot less thinking? — TighMeUp The TV Addict: Is it just me, or are TV fans incredibly hard to please? I mean we all spend season after season clamoring for answers, only to complain the moment we finally get them! God help LOSTerminds Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse when they finally fill us all in on the mysteries behind the island, the four-toed statue, Ben’s mom, Claire’s disappearance, Jack’s father… well, you get the idea. But to answer your question, rest assured tonight’s episode is far less taxing on the brain cells. Not only does Ellen Tigh return in all her former glory, she gives new meaning to the phrase, “If this Viper is a rockin’…. don’t come a knockin!” I have an unhealthy obsession with Jonathan Jackson, can you please tell me we are going to see more of h...
A BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Stunt Casting Fail
2009-02-18 03:02:00
Even though we at theTVaddict.com swore we would never jump on the over-used “fail” meme, Friday’s surprise appearance on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA by John “I’m a PC” Hodgman leaves us with very little choice. Not only is “The PC” guy far too ingrained in our culture zeitgeist to be taken seriously in anything outside of the occasional guest stint on THE DAILY SHOW. Hodgman’s appearance as Caprica’s sole surviving brain surgeon on the Galactica completely removed us from what should have been an emotionally charged scene with Anders’ life hanging in the balance. That and let’s face it, there is no way a PC is fixing anything. #fail

Are the Crew of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Totally Frakked?
2009-02-13 19:33:00
“In years past, I’ve attended [Comic Con] with the hopes of selling pictures and autographs, and taking home some desperately-needed bill paying money. I always tried to put the most positive face on it that I could, but the fact is, I was there as a has-been. That guy who “used to be” an actor. It was always humiliating and depressing for me to spend most of the day “under the sails.” I struggled to keep my chin up, and convince myself that I wasn’t a total loser.” Will Wheaton (STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION) on selling autographs at Comic Con. As the TV Addict crosses another exciting Comic Con off his “bucket list,” our thoughts as they often do, turn to those less fortunate than us. The actors and actresses that spend their time at “the Con” selling signed photos and some might say their dignity away for twenty bucks a pop. For those who have never been, it’s a Comic Con tradition. From that Orion Sla...

Good News, Bad News: HEROES, ABC, NBC & BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
2009-01-17 00:13:00
Good News: In a statement released on Thursday to the media, HEROES creator Tim Kring promised that the new volume of HEROES “starts us pretty much from scratch.” Adding that “there is almost nothing that the audience needs to know from the previous volume in order to follow the storyline.” Bad News: Kring’s statement sounds eerily similar to the message he delivered to Entertainment Weekly at the end of the strike shortened second season, where he apologized to fans and professed his desire to give the show “a clean slate.” [Source] Good News: On the subject of the now-cancelled PUSHING DAISIES, ELI STONE and DIRTY SEXY MONEY, ABC president Stephen McPherson revealed that he “really loved the shows.” Bad News: Just not enough to give the respective showrunners enough time to craft proper series endings or to make room on the schedule to air their remaining episodes. Exclusive Interview: Tamoh Penikett Talks BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and DOLLHOUS
2009-01-16 17:23:00
The TV Addict with Tamoh Penikett in Los Angeles, January 2009 After parlaying five seasons on the critically acclaimed BATTLESTAR GALACTICA into a starring role in Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated new series DOLLHOUSE, some might say Tamoh Penikett is the luckiest actor in Hollywood. This TV Addict wouldn’t be one of those people. As recently, we were given the opportunity to interview Penikett, whose incredibly concise and well thought out answers made it clear that ‘luck’ has nothing to do with it. The following is what he had to say with regards to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA coming to an end, the fate of his character Lt. Karl C. ‘Helo’ Agathon and his role in Whedon’s upcoming DOLLHOUSE. What would you say you’re more excited for, the premiere of DOLLHOUSE or for people to stop asking you about the identity of the final Cylon? Tamoh Penikett: [Laughs] Good question! I’m excited about both. I’ll tell you this, from a purely e...

2009-01-07 23:22:00
Good News: Thanks to a guest starring turn by ex-FRIEND Courteney Cox and more importantly, actual promotion on behalf of ABC, last night’s season premiere of SCRUBS managed to win its timeslot among the coveted 18-24 demographic. Bad News: Too bad it still managed to get completely smoked in total viewers by both the CBS juggernaut known as THE MENTALIST and worse, THE BIGGEST LOSER on NBC. [Source] Good News: For those of you who simply can’t resist, SyFy Portal has the scoop on how BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ends. Bad News: Television is far more fun when you don’t know what’s going to happen next. So how about demonstrating a teensy bit of self control by not clicking here! [Source] Good News: The Janitor is finally getting a little respect, with Neil Flynn signing on the dotted line to star opposite Patricia Heaton in ABC’s comedy pilot THE MIDDLE. Bad News: If SCRUBS does get picked up for a ninth season, Sacred Heart will never be the same. [Source] Go...

Good News: According to a recent report, Americans are watching more TV than ever. Bad News: Notable exceptions to ‘more TV than ever’ unfortunately include PUSHING DAISIES, ELI STONE and DIRTY SEXY MONEY. [Source] Good News: TERMINATOR THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES delivered two fairly shocking reveals in last night’s can’t miss episode. Bad News: With a season low 4.62 million viewers, most of you missed it! Begging the question, what’s the deal? ">[Source] Good News: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA unveils an epic final season promo. Bad News: There’s still 49 days until the Frakkin’ season premiere! [See Video] Good News: Horatio Sanz reveals his weight loss secret. Bad News: Turns out eating better and exercise are kind of a big deal. Which is a shame, because this TV Addict was sort of hoping his ’secret’ didn’t involve eating less burgers, pizza and hot dogs. Good News, Bad News: MAD MEN, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA & ABC
2008-10-17 16:24:00
Good News: AMC has green-lit a third season of its critically acclaimed original series MAD MEN. Bad News: MAD MEN mastermind Matthew Weiner still hasn’t signed onto the dotted line. No doubt hoping for a [much-deserved] mad raise. [Source] Good News: The Sci Fi Network has officially confirmed that BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will commence its final season swan song on January 16, 2009 at 10PM. Bad News: What aren’t you getting? BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is finally coming to an end. Frak No! [Source] Good News: ABC cancelled OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS. Bad News: Only to replace it with yet another hour of DANCING WITH THE STARS. I mean you’d think ABC learned nothing from the time they ran WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE into the ground. [Source]

2008-08-26 14:41:00
By: Melissa Girimonte  My mission for FanExpo 2008 in Toronto was simple – attend the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA [BSG] Q&A.  Those fans lucky enough to get in enjoyed an hour of Edward James Olmos (Admiral William Adama) and Aaron Douglas (Chief Galen Tyrol) as they shared stories from behind the scenes, revealed details on both the final episodes and the upcoming film, and even hinted at who could be revealed as the final Cylon.  Olmos, in his first appearance at a North American sci-fi conference, spoke passionately about his experience on the show.  He stated that BSG is “the finest dramatic show in TV history so far.”  He expanded on this by explaining how the sci-fi genre allows the exploration of issues that other dramatic series will not go near.  Olmos remarked that BSG has not only elevated the entire sci-fi genre, it has also elevated dramatic structure overall.  He also paid tribute to the longevity of the series – that 25 years from now, there will be an eve...

Battlestar Galactica 4: Bill and Laura
2008-06-07 05:14:00
I haven't had chance to review Battlestar Galactica for a few weeks - too many other pleasures, too many other obligations - but tonight's was so good, especially the ending, that I can't resist...The ending, in fact, was better than good. It will go down as one of the classic romantic scenes in all of television, cinema, and novels.Bill Adama has resigned his command of Galactica - given it to Tigh - and gone looking for Laura. She's not easy to find. She's on the Cylon ship with the Hybrid, who is literally jumpy and ordering of jumps, because she knows the lead Six is dead or unconscious (Sharon-Athena did this to her on Galactica, because she didn't want Six taking her hybrid child)...All of that and more - including a great scene between Tigh and Adama - happened on previous episodes. Tonight, at the end, Bill finds Laura. "Missed you," he says to her. "Did you," she replies. They hug. "I love you," Laura tells him. "About time," Adama replies. And there was on...

Battlestar Galactica: Sine Qua Non
2008-06-02 17:35:00
Never, never trust a lady who spends too much time in bathtubs, especially one who takes callers. Last time, Laura Roslin (who's got a scarf to compete with the Hybrid's) and Gaius Baltar go about the damaged basestar to meet with her. As soon as she is online, the Hybrid immediately makes the decision to jump. If I were her, I'd bitch about the blood in my bathwater. But, that's me...There are bigger problems then women who have a never-ending supply of Calgon. Natlie, a regular caller to water-logged Hybrid, dies of Sharon's inflicted gunshot wounds. As a result of her irrational assassination attempt, Sharon is barred from seeing her baby. Caprica Six is pregnant with Saul Tigh's baby instead of conceiving one by Baltar's "fragile, ephemeral body." Then Romo, Baltar's trial lawyer, goes nutso and kills his cat over frustration about Lee Adama becoming president. Then, Adama Sr. goes on a quest to rescue Laura Roslin because he can't "live without her."Now BSG simply sou...

Battlestar Galactica catch-up pt 2
2008-05-30 08:59:00
So here is more to catch up on BSG before tonight's episode. I could smack whoever posted spoilers on the Battlestar Wiki. No direct link here. The Road Less Traveled. Kara Thrace begins her first step in accepting her illicit love for Leoben (amongst many things, which lead to a cliff-hanger of a mutiny. Even Sharon is on it). Karl Anders, however, deeply descends into the Cylon closet, fearful that Kara or his long-lost Cylon brother will find out. Baltar, who has become his own personal Jesus, reaches out and touches Tyrol. Ty, on the other hand, takes touching out of control as he's busy frakking Caprica Six, who may or may not know he's among the Final Five.Faith. Starbuck overcomes the mutiny, thanks to the help of her secretly Cylon husband, who more or less frak things up on the mission. Casualties include Gaeta's leg and a Six (this model seems particularly vulnerable to trauma) when Kara takes an team to the Natalie's basestar. Sharon finds herself a celebrity amongst ...

Battlestar Galactica catch-up
2008-05-29 17:03:00
Since I've been out of it for a while, and BSG has been running, here are some brief recaps of the eps. They've all aired, so I shouldn't take any beatings for spoilers. However, there are a few episodes left, so maybe I'll post this coming Saturday morning. If you want to catch up with the series in general, you can always Netflix seasons 1-3, or pluck them up if you find a good deal. Streaming episodes are available on Sci-Fi for the Season 4 episodes. If you have the spare cash, you could catch up with them all on Amazon Unbox. Here are a few.He That Believeth in Me. Baltar finds himself in a sex harem with the women who rescued him after the trial. Interestingly, they all believe in God. Baltar's inner Six still wears red, but stops wearing sexy numbers. She looks very churchy in her red blazer and skirt. She guides him through assuming the Jesus role (for which he gets a haircut from one of his "nymph squad) and and an attack from Connor). At Least They're Not Cheeseheads (Wired)
2008-05-27 13:58:00
"One of the things I like about our version is that the Galactica isn't one of the best ships in the fleet. If you tell stories about the elite, they have to be paragons. We said the ship was going into retirement and the crew were all castoffs and knuckleheads. To me that's an interesting show."--Ron Moore, re-creator of the Sci-Fi Channel series "Battlestar Galactica," discussing his show's merits with Adam Rogers in the June 2008 issue of Wired magazine. (You can read an extended version of the interview here.)

I finally figured out what's wrong with Battlestar Galactica
2008-05-25 07:49:00
This boxing episode was one of the worst as well. Why is the show so boring? Along with Stargate, it has one of the best built-in premises in Space Sci-Fi. Here it is: It has too much filler. If they just focused on the search for Earth, the battle with the Cylons, and, even the origin/truth/theological question, the show would be excellent. Some of the social allegory is OK, but some of it is the entertainment equivalent of a Bill Richardson policy paper. Instead, we get the relationship/inter--personal detritus. My attention goes jumps into hyperspace every time I see Rosalyn and admiral Adama together. I don't like the phantom Six that (not "who") follows Baltar around. The hybrids are boring. Almost every scene with Starbuck is horrible. Her marriage, her "destiny," and her psychological problems turn the show from interesting to performance-art-boring faster than a Viper changes direction. The worst episodes are the military documentary one, the one where Adama's old f...
Battlestar Galactica: Guess What's Coming To Dinner
2008-05-17 19:55:00
Filed under: Battlestar Galactica, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free(S04E07) I'm going to go out on a limb (no pun ... oh hell, pun intended) and assume it's not a huge spoiler to mention the fate of Gaeta's leg here, before the jump. Most people in last week's poll thought it was "as good as gone," and they were...

If history has taught us anything, it is that this week’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is going to reveal exactly ………. Nothing. I am really disappointed with the way the information has been trickling down. BSG writers seem to be asleep at the switch this time around. Don’t forget to watch Battlestar Galactica “Guess What’s Coming To Dinner” ...
Battlestar Galactica 4.6: Cylon on Cylon
2008-05-12 20:56:00
More good revelatory Cylon on Cylon interactions in 4.6 of Battlestar Galactica - or, more specifically, Cylons killing Cylons, not in the civil war, but one on one...The most significant was Six killing a sister Six. The angel of death Six was my favorite Six - the one who is in a life-and-death political struggle with Brother Cavil (Dean Stockwell). Her sister was a platinum blonde Six, much like the one who is cosmically intertwined with Baltar, and is currently under lock-and-key on the Galactica. The blonde Six on the Cylon ship kills someone from Starbuck's party - a woman who as part of the resistance had killed this Six back on new Caprica - and everyone with Starbuck, especially Anders (a secret four Cylon himself), takes umbrage. Anders, in fact, wants to kill this Six, and the lead Six takes it upon herself, as a way of keeping peace, to kill her sister. Since there's no Resurrection ship around, these deaths really count. One of the Sharons also gets blasted - in ...

Filed under: Battlestar Galactica, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free(S04E06) More than a few people thought last week's episode was filler. Things picked up again this week, with a lot of reveals along with a few more questions. Throw in another "red shirt" death and some other surprises (that I won't mention here in case...
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - ?Faith? (S04E06) Pictures and Video
2008-05-09 17:20:00
Ok, every week, it’s getting to be the same on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. The story goes absolutely nowhere. I have cut them some slack but I need some developments here not just some character study. I am genuinely pissed with the show at this point. They can’t keep saying “all will be revealed” without actually revealing ...
Battlestar Galactica 4.5: Mutiny on the Demetrius
2008-05-05 19:01:00
Well, Mutiny on the Bounty it wasn't, but Episode 5 of Battlestar Galactica's final season provided some interesting moments, as Kara Thrace's grumbling crew of the Demetrius moves towards mutiny in its so far unsuccessful attempt to find Earth.Actually, I thought the most interesting part was the arrival on the Demetrius of Leoben the Cylon, fresh with news of the Cylon civil war. This fight within the Cylons is the most significant element of this final season, and points towards some ultimate permanent reconciliation between the better Cylons and humanity. But Leoben only aggravates tensions on the Demetrius, and it's pretty clear that Helo won't be able to maintain order much longer. One character whose motivations seemed somewhat unjustified to me was Sharon - shouldn't she have a little more confidence in Leoben, and what we pretty much know to be his true story - Sharon being a good Cylon herself, after all?Meanwhile, back on the Galactica, and speaking of Cylons, Tyr...
