Chicago Bulls vs Boston Celtics, 7:00 PM NBATV
2009-12-12 20:14:00
Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo have all given the Bulls problems in the past. Tonight, the four enter the United Center to face the struggling Chicago Bulls. After a hard-fought overtime win against the Golden State Warriors last night, the Bulls will attempt to see if they can win two straight, before facing the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.Center Joakim Noah collected 18 points and 14 rebounds against Golden State who started Mikke Moore at center. Boston is starting 285-pound Kendrick Perkins, who this year is averaging a career-high 12.0 points....
Near death on Boston tracks reminds us to stay away from edge of platform
2009-11-17 13:00:00
One of my irrational fears is to fall or be pushed off a CTA platform as a train is roaring into the station. That's why this video out of Boston really hit home. Many of you have probably already seen it since by now it's truly gone viral. But I'm posting it anyway as a warning to drunks on platforms, and to all the rest of us. Miraculously, she survived with no injuries other than some scratches....

Deal Report: $1 Meals at Boston Market
2009-10-28 04:10:00
Because there was no line at KFC last night, I kind of hoped that not that many people had heard about the Boston Market deal and that it would be dead. I planned to get there around 5 p.m. to beat any rush, but that didn't quite work out and I walked up to the store with my three kids (the hubs was working late) at 6:15 p.m. The line was actually starting to poke right out the door, into the rainy night. And it was not moving. I told the kids we'd have to go home for dinner and they absolutely flipped. Waterworks everywhere. I guess they were really looking forward to eating out.
Don't Forget Free KFC Today -- And a New Offer From Boston Market
2009-10-26 21:52:00
Did you remember that KFC is giving each customer a free piece of grilled chicken today? I'm thinking of heading over there with my girls since the hubs is working late tonight. But if there is a long line I won't bother. It's just a piece of chicken. But Boston Market, not to be outdone, issued a printable coupon today that will get you a whole meal for just $1, today through Sunday. If you are having trouble loading that site, enter your email here to have the coupon emailed to you. That's a Real Chicken Meal with 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes and cornbread.

Boston Red Sox News & Notes ? 9/17

With the game last night between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels lasting four hours and seven minutes, you would have thought that the New York Yankees were in town. Who was that guy on the mound last night for the Boston Red Sox and where did they get him from? That’s right it was the Daisuke Matsuzaka that was advertised about back when the Red Sox signed him before the 2007 season. He was definitely not the same pitcher we’ve seen over the last 2 ...
Boston 2010
2009-09-04 17:22:00
Yippe!!! Registration for the 2010 Boston marathon starts this week! I can’t wait to get my entry request in. I’ll be applying again for a slot in the mobility impaired division and I’m crossing my fingers that my 2009 finish time at Boston will be enough to qualify me for 2010. Hopefully I’ll find out if I’m approved a lot sooner this time around, so I can get a jump on training and all the trip planning involved. Yeah, I know I said I wasn’t going to do anymore full marathons, but this one is special. I really had a pnenominal time last year and it would be great to do it again…..this time WITHOUT the finish line shenanigans. Oh….and for next years race, I have a sponsor! (More about that later) “HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND EVERYONE!

I didn’t even know that this was out there until an RT blogger friend on Facebook told me. Mike and I are on page 61 of the current issue of the “AARC Times”. The Times is a publication of the American Assoc for Respiratory Care, a national organization that thousands of Respiratory Therapists belong to. They also put out a science journal out called “Respiratory Care” in which I was featured back in 2008. Click the cover to see the article If you liked this post, please share it!

Talking Off-Season With Nick of Boston Celtics News Station
2009-07-03 17:52:00
Making the team blogging rounds, we're now talking Celtics. We have Nick Gelso of Boston Celtics News Station. An up and coming C's blog you are going to have check out.1. Lots of elite Eastern conference teams have made big moves recently. The Cavs got Shaq and the Magic got Vince Carter. What if anything do the Celtics need to do to keep up with the other title contending teams in the East?I believe Boston has almost completely slipped under the radar of the media and key opponents. The Cavs acquired Mo Williams last season to combat the Celtics. Though that playoff match up never materialised, Mo Williams was a no factor against the Magic in the EC Finals. This season the Cavs brought in Shaq to combat Dwight Howard. While Cleveland has spent the last two off seasons on the defensive, this year prepping for an Orlando rematch, Boston has been developing their current roster, resting and regrouping for another title run. In my opinion, the Celtics starting line up has the league...

Hijacked at the Boston Finish line..
2009-05-10 18:02:00
This is my account of what actually happened at the end of the race; ( warning: this is another long post) I think it started around mile 20 as we were descending into downtown Boston. The winds kinda whipped up out of nowhere and within a matter of minutes the temperature must have fallen 20 degrees…. I was freezing! It was then that I started to feel a noticeable change in my breathing . My lungs were getting progressively tighter anyway because it had been more than 6 hours since Id had a neb treatment, but now I was starting to audibly wheeze, which I rarely do, even when I do marathons. I remember I was also air-trapping pretty bad, so I had to purse-lip non-stop for the rest of the race to prevent it from getting worse. We had now been walking non-stop for nearly 7 hours and as we approached the last mile, I remember telling Mike that my inhaler just wasn’t cutting it anymore and that I would definitely need a neb treatment once we finished the race. No prob...

El a Boston y nosotros?.?
2009-05-07 16:49:00

2009 Boston marathon trip/race report

We did it! WARNING…This is a longgggg post. I apologize in advance for any typos. I whipped this thing out in a hurry and will probably add to it as I start remembering more things. *******************************-************************* OK, so I didn’t PR. Actually, I set a new PW ( a personal worst) time of 7:31 . But hey, I made it to the TOP FINISHERS list..lol Before I get into the details of the trip, first of all let me just say what an incredible experience this has been for me (and Im sure for the other 25,000 runners). All the hype that you hear about the Boston marathon is absolutely true. There is simply no other marathon like it on the planet. This was absolutely the best marathon experience Ive ever had! It’s the runners themselves, along with the fans and the people of the Boston area that make this event so special. It’s difficult to put into words the emotions you experience when you have a half million people rooting you on mile a...

Boston Red Sox vs Oakland A's
2009-04-17 11:46:00
As luck would have it, the Red Sox were in town the two days before the awards ceremony. I had wanted to go to both games, but only managed to make it to one.Getting to the Oakland Coliseum is very convenient. The Bay Area Rapid Transit stops right in front of the stadium...and right in front of our hotel. It was only about $3 and a short 20 minute ride over.Ticket prices are also very reasonable. The most expensive seat in the house was only $55. I would have purchased one of those, but they were all sold out. I had to settle for the $40 seats, which still weren't too bad.It has been nearly four years since I've been to a Major League Baseball game (check out my post from 2005 and you'll recognize a former Saipan celebrity). The two or three games I went to at Fenway when I was a kid are some of the best memories I have from my childhood. It was great to sort of relive them at Tuesday's game. Here are some photos:Big Papi about to take a monster swing. That's team captai...
Ready or not, Boston here I come !
2009-04-15 20:04:00
Bib# 22157 Today I did my last recovery walk of 4 miles, huffing and puffing most of the way, and in just a few hours, for better or worse, I’ll be making my way back east for Monday’s Race. Gosh, Ive spend more money on this one event, than all my previous races combined. I did manage however, to get my flight from San Francisco to Boston upgraded to First Class…yeah! I have no idea what to expect during marathon weekend, but from what I’ve read (there’s a great article here) and from what people have told me, it should be a pretty exciting 4 days. I’m looking forward to meeting up with a few of my friends who are also doing the race. I’d also like to get out and tour some the famous Boston area sights. Ive never been to any of the New England states , so this is an exciting trip for me in many ways. I’m guessing that since it has a soup named after it, that Boston must have some awesome Restaurants:-) Seriously though, as race...

Getting jazzed about Boston
2009-04-07 02:24:00
With less than 2 weeks to go before the big day, the reality that I’m actually going to be doing the Boston marathon is finally starting to sink in and I’m starting to get jazzed about it. I know this has always been a very popular and respected race among serious runners, but I had no idea just how big a deal the event is for the city of Boston and the neighboring communities that line the course. This is a race that attracts 500,000+ spectators and is broadcast all over the world. After you’ve been signed up, they send you this massive PDF file ( I think 300 pages) . Which lists all the stats from all the years that the race has been held. And check out some of the runner comments for the 2008 race. I don’t think I read a single review that had less than 4.5 stars Here are some other interesting facts about the race that I pulled of the main page:
