Chinese Food Emporium -- Sun Wah
2010-11-16 18:00:00 Most of us have been eating Chinese food since we were kids. I remember growing up in New Jersey, I thought Chinese and Italian were the only two ethnic choices out there. And even then, I didn't even know they were ethnic, I just thought it was American food...and in a way it is. That's what American food is...a melding of all cultures. Sun Wah is one of Chicago's Best Chinese restaurants. Not only should you go for the tasty food made in this family-owned joint that truly is a testament to the American dream, go for the visuals -- the rows of duck hanging in the window, the expert chopping and preparing going on right before your eyes. We...

The Return of the ?Best Chinese Food Outside of China? ? Zen Fine Chinese C
2009-12-20 08:48:00 After the Belgian Waffle breakfast at Damien's, Suanne and I decided to take a walk around the Steveston Village. And we stumbled upon a soon to be opened restaurant that will definitely be the talk of town in the next few week! Steveston Village had changed a lot the past few years. There had been quite a bit of development. I like what I see because the Richmond City had managed to plan all the new development really well without altering the charm of the area. As we walked past this new apartment / retail building I caught from the distance the words "Zen Fine Chinese Cuisine". I was totally excited and was hoping that it is THE Zen Fine Chinese Cuisine that became an overnight success.

Chinese Food Therapy for Dogs and Cats
2008-03-07 17:31:00 Here is the link for the temperature of foods for our dogs and cats;Chinese Food Therapy for Dogs and CatsDr. Pink Pinkerton and I have promised this information for a long time! How do we use this chart?Well, if for example the pet seems to run "hot" which would be indicated by panting, seeking cool places, thirst, redness of the skin or eyes, etc, then the food choices would come from the foods that are either Cool/Cold or from the neutral category. The reverse of that would be if for instance the pet appeared chilled, wanting to curl up in a ball, wants under the covers of bedding, or seeks to lie in the sunlight, then the food choices would come from the group of Warm/Hot foods and from the neutral category. Not sure? Then use foods from only the neutral category. In the future the PawHealer team will be posting many more diets and food choices.Stay tuned!
The Truth About Chinese Food
2008-02-18 19:58:00 Big Shocker - Chinese food is unhealthy for you! A lot of you are now saying, “um, duh!” because you may have already known this.. But did you know HOW unhealthy it is for you? According to a study last year, Chinese restaurants have unacceptable levels of fat and sodium in their food. And we’re not talking just a “little” unacceptable either! There is no question that as Americans (or Canadians here in some cases) have taken a liking towards sweet, salty sauces and dishes that include many of their deep fried meats such as General Tso’s chicken and sweet and sour pork. When served with fried rice you are basically ordering a heart attack right then and there. Chinese food also is made with a ton of oil and thick soy sauce which although gives it a great flavor, just clogs up the arteries each and every time you put a forkful in your mouth. That doesn’t mean that you can stick to the stir-fry veggi...

What did we do on New Year's Eve before Chinese food???
2008-01-03 14:36:00 So... it was New Year's Eve... we were home... tired from just having had our annual holiday soiree... and just didn't feel like doing much besides ordering out Chinese food. Since it was a "holiday", and therefore a "special occasion", we decided to order from the coveted Mandarin Gourmet (on the Chestnut Hill/South Brookline line). Why coveted? Because the food is the best Chinese around, HOWEVER... they don't deliver... so that requires one of us to brave the weather and the crowds and go pick it up -- rather than just having Spring Blossom (our standard Chinese restaurant) deliver.I knew Christmas Eve was a big "Chinese Food Night", but I had no idea that NYE was too. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my food, no joke... at least 30 people were jammed into the TINY lobby waiting to pick-up takeout as well. Does no one cook during the holidays anymore?!In any case, I'd like to recommend Mandarin Gourmet if you live in West Roxbury, South Brookline or Chestnut Hill. ...

Holy Sexual Fantasy, Batman! It's Batman!
2007-07-20 18:42:00 Kitty has just returned from a brief - yet informative and relaxing - work trip to Chicago, Kitty's second favorite city. While the guest speaker's Irish accent was completely sexy, the speaker himself lectured at us conventioneers for 8 hours. Two days in a row. Kitty learned a lot. Including the fact that his attention deficit disorder prohibits him from being lectured at for more than 3 hours without a Kitty falling asleep or daydreaming about sex and or Giordano's pizza. Kitty would have rather fucked himself with a hotdog that had a rusty nail sticking out of it than listened to an 8 hour lecture. And, although it sadly rained in Chicago for much of Kitty's time there, two fantastic and exciting things did happen.First, a Kitty found the most amazing little Chinese restaurant. Seriously. Its worth a five hour drive to Chicago to eat at this place. Its called 65 Chinese Restaurant, and has a charming little story and the best orange chicken and fried rice a Kitty has ever cons...

Introduction: Yin Yang Foods - Traditional Chinese Food Remedies
2007-07-04 16:48:00 A slight introduction before I get in the topic of Yin Yang foods which I would start with a question. Is there such a thing as longevity food that we can eat in abundant quantities in order to live long life? I would say that with more pharmaceutical manufacturers are in the market nowadays making our life easier by simply condensing these daily necessity minerals into small capsules. I have no doubt that this the best solution for our current busy world but nature is the pure vitamin resources that could offer us. Many people, particularly those in the West, are in the habit of jumping from one magic solution to another, but unfortunately, no such food exist. The basic reason for this is that people have differing physical constitutions and require different foods in order to stay in good health or to be immune from disease. However, in selecting foods in your quest for longevity, there is one fundamental concept that is helpful to keep in mind; Whether or not a given food contrib...

Jonesin' for some good Chinese food
2007-06-26 01:10:00 On Saturday night we were trying to figure out what to do for dinner and I basically told my husband to go to the local grocery store (Haggen's) and to their chinese Panda-express-like place to get what we call "Haggenese", but they shut down before we even got there, which was a bummer, so we ended up with pizza, which does NOT satisfy a Chinese food craving!I've been to Kowloon Garden in Bellingham on Meridian Street as it was highly recommended by my SIL, but I wasn't too thrilled with it, and I think the reason why was due to the fact that the Chow Mein up here is different- you have to specify whether you want regular soft noodles or crispy noodles, otherwise they give you crispy noodles, which I hate. In California, it's always soft noodles. Their other entrees were okay. I've been to a couple of other places randomly out here, but I haven't found a Chinese restaurant that has wowed me yet. The next one I am going to try is also on Meridian Street (in the opposite direct...
