Crackhouse walkthrough courtesy of Rationality Now!
2009-09-22 04:51:00 Rationality Now posted a 6 part thorough walkthr-ough of Ken Ham's stupid crackhouse (creation "museum") plus additional reviews of some really stupid movies and shows being put on at the crackhouse such as "Men in White [Straight Jackets]" "Micro[scum]ium" and The creationists' answer to The Passion of the Christ with all the blood and gore being fully shown explicitly in front of children despite the crackhouse claims of being "a family friendly place." Although Dan Gilbert, who is the author of the article, admits the museum is impressively clean and well built with finely detailed displays and exhibits (I don't think so!), he does acknowledged that what they show is completely all wrong and stupid. And that's exactly what all the exhibits are! Stupid. Wrong. Hypocritical. All made up to vacuum up money from the lay person's pocketbooks and pour a huge cesspool of garbage into the minds of especially children with stupid lies, false forms of Christianity, outr...

Second, I’d like to make it clear that I did receive a free copy of this book for participating. The book is The Naked Gospel by Andrew Farley. This is a book about taking the ...

Goodbye TNIV, Hello 2011 Updated NIV
2009-09-02 19:44:00 Yesterday, Zondervan Publishing House and Biblica (formerly the International Bible Society) announced plans to revise the NIV in 2011 and discontinue the controversial TNIV. Many conservative evangelicals, and groups like the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW) openly opposed the gender neutral translation choices of the TNIV. So to hear this coming from Zondervan ...
Back from punching bags
2009-08-30 03:00:00 After an all fun day of punching bags, it's great to unwind for the evening and blog about what I have in mind and what's going on in the world of the science blogosphere. Although the latest posts are part of the latest Bulletproof Harpist fanfic I'm working on, this site will still focus on debunking creationist idiocy on dinosaurs and exposing the ways creationists will do everything to push their lying idiocy down the throats of others. Take a look at this example and you'll see how it's not right to even shovel *#*% down the throats of foreign exchange students. From PZ's site - The second matter AiG brings up is something of a sore point with me. They don't like Dawkins' recent article, "Creationists, Now They're Coming for Your Children". The nonsense in the AiG article is just more of the same ol' babble, and I suspect it was written by Jason Lisle, because it simply repeats their mantra of 'same evidence, different interpretations'. They take exception to Dawkins...
Those Five New Points of Calvinism
2009-08-26 18:23:00 Almost everyone reading my blog is familiar with the acrostic TULIP as standing for the five points of Calvinism. Probably most of you know what each point stands for: Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, Perseverance of the Saints. Then the number goes down as to who knows what each point means. I ...
Marriage and the Family Foundations: Part 2, Denmark & Spain.
2009-08-21 15:50:00 A continuation of yesterdays facebook conversation with a good Danish friend of mine. He’s a seminary student at a Lutheran Evangelical seminary in Denmark, and overall a good guy. Here is the exchange: Søren Wow. This is as long as some of the comments I made on my brothers status sometimes. I agree with you on most of ...
Marriage, Family Foundations, and De-Constructionism Exchange.
2009-08-21 06:37:00 Short facebook exchange. Thought I’d put it up here for future personal reference. If it may have the additional benefit of helping you with the important question of what is marriage, then I will consider it an additional blessing. Short discussion regarding the De-Construction of Marriage by militant feminist and homosexual ideologies. Leonard Goenaga just got out ...

Parents, Teachers, Talk to your children!
2009-08-19 04:34:00 There is a strong dire need for all parents and teachers to talk to their children about what Ham and his crackhouse does to everyone's minds and how will they brainwash them into following their dogma that will delude them into never telling dinosaur from dragon, shun out historical facts that speak of atrocities committed even by Christians themselves before Darwin has ever learned how to write let alone was ever born, and calling lie, "truth" and truth, "lie." Not saying anything about it will increase their vulnerability towards this kind of dangerous dogma. I refuse to marry and have children because I would be a bad mother, a bad wife, and land in situations I would not like being in if I do choose to do these things. But I feel for families everywhere nonetheless who will have to deal with this kind of thing every time they go to church, every time they watch TV, every time they travel down the road, and every time they surf the web. Punch up words like "dinosaur," "dating ...
Part 2: Crossan on the Meaning of Christ?s Sacrifice
2009-08-06 18:16:00 The following is excerpted from John Domonic Crossan?s book, ?God and Empire?: “THE MEANING OF SACRIFICE” Apart from narrativity, let alone historicity, there is the deeper question of the theology within which Jesus’s execution is understood then and now by Christian believers. For The Passion of the Christ and millions of Christians, it was a theology of ...

Christianity: Made in USA
2009-07-24 01:15:00 Here we go yet again. At the 40th anniversary of the Moon landing the Christian right does it again. The moment we thought that Creationism has almost lost the war, they have a come-back. It seems that you cannot just get rid of those morons, just like we will never be able to completely eradicate bugs. read more

Bob?s Book Blurbs: Jesus 365, A Devotional ? Compiled by Ed Stewart
2009-07-23 16:08:00 In the second century after Christ, the Diatessaron was a popular Christian book which took the four Gospels and combined them into one single story of Christ. This year, I’ve been reading a fascinating devotional book based on the same principle, Jesus 365, A Devotional: Experiencing the Four Gospels as One Single Story compiled by ...
Shameful Revelation
2009-07-23 15:36:00 Thank God, I will get a view of the Battle of Armageddon from the grand stand seats of the heavens. All who are born again will see the battle of Armageddon, but it will be from the skies (Carl McIntire, 1965) What then should be the believer’s attitude to the destruction of the world by fire? ...

Aliens & Atheist Absurdity
2009-07-21 16:08:00 My wife and I rented Knowing, a newly released (on DVD) movie with Nicolas Cage in it. I have to admit I love end-of-the-world, science fiction movies. Some of my favorites are Deep Impact, Independence Day and Core. There is a scene in Knowing, where the professor character that Cage plays, explains two competing views of ...
The Gospels and Anti-Semitism
2009-07-21 00:15:00 In his book, ?God and Empire?, John Dominic Crossan makes a good case for the claims that the popular portrayals of Jesus’ passion is at the root of anti-Semitism: The residents of the Bavarian village of Oberammergau have staged a Passion Play every decade on the decade and also on special anniversaries in gratitude for protection ...

Jesus? Radical View of Divorce
2009-07-17 19:10:00 Next to homosexuality the issue that seems to be most contentious for the Christian church is that of divorce. I?ve heard people say, when arguing for Christian tolerance of gays, that in the Bible Jesus never spoke out against homosexuality but he did specifically condemn divorce, a practice widely accepted within (if not a prime ...

In Case of Rapture, Check I.D.
2009-06-02 19:20:00 In Isaiah 46 the author talks of two of the ancient Babylonian Gods, Bel and Nebo: 1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary. 2 They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity. I ...

2009-05-27 16:48:00 The following is taken from an adult SS lesson I taught this past Sunday. I thought it would be a blessing to share it by means of my blog for a wider audience. 1 Thess. 2:9-13 For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a ...
Does the Doctrine of Penal Substitutionary Atonement Promote Torture?
2009-05-26 18:33:00 Not for the first time have I been perplexed by the Church’s long affair with torture. Or is there some warped thread woven into the very fabric of ...

Postmodernism for Dummies (by a Postmodern Dummy)
2009-05-13 16:42:00 What’s it all about, anyway? Is postmodernism a good thing or a bad thing? Some people accuse others of being ‘post modern’, using it as an epithet. Others wear the mantra proudly. But what does it mean? There are plenty of opinions on this, from the pedestrian to the scholarly. But I often find that they ...

2009-05-08 22:53:00 In a certain church, there was a man who always ended his prayers with, “And, Lord, clean the cobwebs out of my life! God is back: How Ned Flanders won the evangelical crusade
2009-05-07 10:58:00 Virtually everywhere in the developing world fiery preachers are preaching a faith that would appeal to Ned Flanders: live your life according to God's law, read the Bible as the literal word of Truth, treat your neighbour as yourself. And everywhere they are thriving. In 1900, 80 per cent of the world's Christians lived in Europe and the United States; today, 60 per cent of them live in the developing world.
Books read in May 2009
2009-05-04 10:29:00 1. Surprised by Hope by Tom WrightWright had written an excellent text to show the Christian hope is not heaven after death but resurrection. Salvation is for the body, not disembodied souls. We do not look to heaven but to a new creation at the return of Christ, a new heaves and earth. Wright works out the practical implications now. He certainly makes one look afresh at our hymnody where the focus is too often on heaven not resurrection. However, at three points I would depart from Wright. First, he says that once you establish there is no purgatory there is nothing wrong in prayers for the dead. I do not see to one end one can in any way pray for any alteration in the state of the dead. Second, Wright has a less than biblical understanding of hell and eternal punishment. He sees the lost merely as in someway dehumanised by losing the divine image. I think this is mere non-biblical speculation . Finally I cannot for the life of me understand why he thinks that third world debt is...

Foster mother 'struck off' after Muslim girl converts
2009-04-06 17:44:00 A foster mother has been struck off by a council after a teenage Muslim girl in her care became a Christian. The carer, who has ten years? experience and has looked after more than 80 children, said she was ?devastated? by the decision.?This is my life,? she revealed. ?It is not just a job for me. It is a vocation. I love what I do. It is also my entire income. I am a single carer, so that is all I have to live on.?The foster mother said she had recently bought a larger car and had been renting a farmhouse, with a pony in a field, so that she could provide more disadvantaged children with a new life.?That was always my dream and then suddenly, bang, it was gone. I am now in a one-bedroom flat,? she added. The girl is understood to be back with members of her family, who have not been told of her conversion. A second girl the woman was fostering has been moved to another carer. The woman insisted that, although she was a Christian, she had put no pressure on the Muslim girl, who was 1...

2009-03-29 17:17:00 A Korean church asked me to preach on this.Ex. 20:1 And God spoke all these words: 2 ?I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 ?You shall have no other gods before me. Ex. 20:1 And God spoke all these words: 2 ?I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 ?You shall have no other gods before me.God was Israel?s saviour who had brought them out of Egypt. Would they now trust in Him to keep them, to provide for them? He is the Lord. He is their covenant God. Will they trust him? Sadly they often trusted in idols, false gods who were no gods but because they were the gods of powerful nations around them, God?s people were often led astray. Only exile cured them.Every one of us is, even from his mother's womb, a master craftsman of idols.
