Jason Bene: You previously worked with Frank Henenlotter on Brain Damage. Was it a given that you would be back for Frankenhooker? Al Magliochetti: I was not invited back for Frankenhooker at all. Frank refused to have anything more to do with me after some conflicts on the set of Brain Damage. In a nutshell, Frank had no idea how to shoot stop-motion (as is evidenced by the animation attempts in Basket Case,) but that didn’t stop him from giving me very specific instructions on how to shoot those scenes in extremely impractical and incorrect ways.
