It was an open secret that Flipkart was working on a music offering for some months now. Finally, we can try it out. Here’s how it looks. The service has all kinds of artists and albums ranging from Western to Carnatic and it is only going to grow with new music being added in. Flyte is located within Flipkart but has its own cart called ‘Digital Cart’. The independently owned firm will develop GlobalTraxOnline’s branding, interactive, e-commerce and social media campaigns. It is a great device, but it does have some drawbacks, particularly, the Squeezebox requires setting up Squeezecenter (aka SlimServer) on a machine to get your personal music library to stream to the device. That was about 15 percent of overall sales, up from 11 percent a year earlier and less than 1 percent in 2003.But digital sales have yet to make up for the shortfall in sales of compact discs, and overall sales of recorded music fell about 10 percent last year, to $17.6 billion, the federation estimated.
