U.S. To Face England In First Round of 2010 World Cup
2009-12-04 20:08:00
We'll have no more of that, boys. You're enemies, now. For the first time since 1950, the United States will face England in the World Cup. Today at the World Cup soccer draw in Cape Town, South Africa, the US was drawn into Group C with the men from across the pond. The US and England will get their first taste of World Cup 2010 action in Rustenberg on June 12. When the two teams last met in the Cup, the US shocked England with a 1-0 victory now known as "The Miracle on Grass."On June 18 the US will face Slovenia, who slid in by defeating Russia on the last day of qualifying. June 23, in what should be...
Fire 1-Revolution 2: No Luck in New England
2009-11-01 23:54:00
The Fire headed into Sunday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at the New England Revolution knowing that they couldn't afford to give the Revs many set piece opportunities. "We have to limit their set pieces," Fire Head Coach Denis Hamlett said earlier this week. "[We have to be careful on] throw-ins and corner kicks because they do well with those." But the Fire wasn't able to control New England's dead ball opportunities and they paid the price for it, surrendering two goals off of set pieces to fall to the Revolution 2-1. The loss puts all the pressure on the Fire, who now needs a victory in next Saturday's series deciding Game 2 just to have a...
Matchday 11/1: Fire vs. New England
2009-11-01 17:12:00
We're finally here.  After 7 months of grueling regular season action, the Fire is just two hours away from kicking off Game 1 (1 p.m. on FSC) of their two game Eastern Conference Semifinal against New England.  Today's game should be a hard-fought, physical battle (as it always is between the two long time rivals...) and it should go a long way towards determining who will advance to the Eastern Conference Final.I'll be following the game and sharing my thoughts/observations in the comments thread below so be sure to keep it here while you're tuned in.  Get excited people. ...

Lax performances in one day series could cost England dear
2009-09-18 12:52:00
I will freely admit that, following England?s dramatic and euphoric Ashes test victory, I looked upon the proceeding One Day Internationals as a bit of an anti-climatic sideshow.Curiously placed between the test series and the Champions Trophy, on the fringes of the English autumn, to say it was like a case of ?After the Lord Mayor?s show? is an understatement.Flash back to 2005 and the one day series was before the test matches, nicely wetting our appetites ahead of the main event. I can understand the scheduling this time round is maybe to do with the hastily re-arranged Champions Trophy at the end of the month. But to ensure interest is maintained, I can?t help thinking they should return to their pre-test slot in 2013.I sensed that feeling from the crowd from game one and as each inevitable defeat followed I could imagine the players thinking to themselves: ?we don?t care, we?ve won the Ashes.?Added to the general malaise hanging over the series was England?s poor one-day reco...

It is time to go back to basics. I believe Islam is the future.?Previously, when asked if he condemned the followers of Osama bin Laden, the Syrian-born cleric said: ?I condemn Tony Blair. Islamic fundamentalism promoted on websites at some Muslim schools
2009-02-23 06:14:00
Daily Telegraph'sTom Whitehead, reports on20 Feb 2009'.....warns the messages are threatening social cohesion and could fuel "ghettoization" and segregation. A site linked to one primary school said playing Monopoly or chess was forbidden and likened the latter to "one who dips his hands in the blood of swine". Another warned children in Britain were being exposed to a culture that was against everything Islam stands for, while a third school's website had electronic links to alleged extremist sites. Others had links to other sites or chatrooms that contain fundamental views such as forbidding the playing of cricket or even reading of Harry Potter books. Many of the messages, sites or links mentioned in the report have since been taken down, but the Department for Children, Schools and Families last night said it would investigate the allegations it contained. Representatives of Muslim schools angrily dismissed the study, labelling it "misleading, intolerant and divisive", but th...
Government accused of anti-Christian discrimination
2009-02-15 22:49:00
'The British Government was today accused by a shadow minister of failing to prevent "systematic discrimination" against Christians in Britain. Court upholds Christian Counsellor's Claim for wrongful dismissal but law i
2009-01-09 10:58:00
This is from the Christian Legal Centre 'Gary McFarlane, a relationship counsellor, won a claim for wrongful dismissal against Relate Avon. He was sacked because his Christian beliefs prevented him giving sex therapy to homosexual couples. The Employment Tribunal was in December and Mr. McFarlane was represented by religious liberties specialist, Barrister, Paul Diamond.Gary McFarlane had worked for Relate since 2003. He was disappointed with the hostility he had experienced from Relate. Although Mr McFarlane had never had to provide sex therapy to a same sex couple, he thought that if the situation did arise, he would be able to discuss his Christian views with his supervisors so that his position could be discussed and if necessary accommodated. Any such discussions were, however, pre-empted by unexpected meetings between Mr McFarlane and his manager in October 2007 when he was asked to state his views regarding same sex couples. Despite explaining that he would counsel couples i...

Graham is disgusted that the administrator of the English History & Identity group has deleted all discussion topic posts. Click the title for the group. It's been way too long since my last update. It was not a lack of pictures. More a lack of time and energy. The past few months have been very hectic. But hopefully the next year will be a little less hectic and more relaxed.Anyway me and my Mrs. were in England last week to visit a good friend of ours who was staying at his parent's house in Devon around X-mas. Oakland Raiders Stink - New England Up 42 to 20 In Rain-Soaked Game
2008-12-15 00:27:00
I've been an Oakland Raiders fan since I was little, and went to a lot of games.  I've seen bad years, but this one's too much to take.  For the second straight year, the Oakland Raiders are guaranteed of a high -- second pick in 2009 -- NFL Draft pick.   It's not that the Raiders need the players; the Raiders need a coach and a system. Right now, they're losing 42 to 20 to the New England Patriots at the Raiders home, a windy, cold Oakland Coliseum.   The main problem is the defense; good in places, the Pats no-huddle strategy got them off guard.  What's the best answer?  Blitz and from different angles.  Make them think about what they're doing.  But the Raiders didn't do that. Still, this 3 and 10 team could come back.  It's 3:30 in the third quarter, and the Raiders just need to score three more touchdowns and a field goal to win.   Oh, and hold the Pats to zero additional points. Let's see what happens.
