Euro zone finance ministers dismiss Greek exit 'propaganda'
2012-05-15 02:50:00
Euro zone finance ministers dismissed talk of Greece leaving the euro zone as "propaganda and nonsense" on Monday, but said the country had to respect the terms of the bailout program agreed with the EU and the International Monetary Fund. If Greece can form a government and that government signs up to the bailout agreement, then it is possible some of the targets in the program could be softened, the chairman of the euro zone finance ministers, Jean-Claude Juncker, said. Euro rate 'a major boost for buyers in Spain'
2012-04-20 02:00:00
People buying property in Spain can now take advantage of the most favourable exchange rate between sterling and the euro for 19 months. Managing director of Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty Stephen Dight said this makes the present time a very good one to buy in Mallorca. He commented: "The eurozone debt crisis is weighing heavily the European Central Bank's and politicians' shoulders, which makes sterling appear to be attractively stable and increase in value." Mr Dight also noted those investing in the Balearics who do so before May 1st can avoid the deadline for a new property transfer tax being introduced in the islands. The tax changes apply to more expensive properties, but new-build homes are excluded from the tax and instead subjected to a different levy whose rate has been halved. Reuters columnist Fiona Maharg-Bravo predicted this week that property prices in Spain are likely to become cheaper in the near future as unemployment rises and the ...

The Euro Will Disintegrate ? Germany Is the Reason!

There are all sorts of reasons I could list to explain why the euro will disintegrate. You have heard a lot of them before. But as this crisis continues to drag on, I think many people still miss the core reason the single currency, and possibly even the European Union itself, will come undone — Germany! Here’s why … There is no way the countries of Europe can compete with Germany’s dynamic export-driven economy. That really is the bottom line of the story. But let me add some context … There are four financial management tools of manipulation that a country needs to properly grow and manage its economy relative to . . . → Read More: The Euro Will Disintegrate ? It’s one thing to say that peripheral eurozone countries are better off leaving the euro, but how, exactly? And how severe can we expect the consequences to be, not only for those nations but also for the entire eurozone – and for the rest of us, worldwide? To minimize fallout from the event(s), it would be helpful to have a solid foundation, based on an historical understanding of similar events, on which we could build a reasonable set of expectations. In the following piece, Jonathan Tepper, my Endgamecoauthor, gives us the cornerstone of just such a foundation.
