2012-01-25 23:38:00 Earlier today, NASCAR issued a statement on how fines will be disclosed to the public beginning this season: NASCAR will no longer issue fines that are undisclosed. We looked at this issue from every angle and gathered feedback from the industry. While there are always sensitivities related to sponsor relationships and other leagues may continue issuing disclosed and undisclosed fines, NASCAR has decided that all fines moving forward will be made public after the competitor or organization that has been penalized has been informed. Fans can rejoice as Akira is once again on hold
2012-01-05 21:09:00 It’s been a rough ride for Warner Bros. to get their live-action adaptation of Akira to develop, but things were looking for the film, and casting was even getting started. Well, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that production on the film has once again stalled for, you guessed it, budget concerns. But wait a moment, wasn’t that already taken care of when the film was green-lit (here)? Apparenlty not. The script was reworked to fit for a $90 million dollar budget, but WB wants to cut at least down to $60-70 million. Fans will obviously take this as another sign the film needs to be scrapped altogether, but insiders are saying that “Warner Bros. just won’t let it die.” Akira isn’t exactly a hot property. Sure, it’s loved by its fanbase (myself included), but outside of that niche audience, very few know anything about the anime/manga. Perhaps WB knows that, and it’s the very reason why they cutting the budget.
