Maranello is situated in a corridor of towns hosting various sports car manufacturers. This is the home region of Lamborghini, Bugatti and one special firm we paid a visit to: Ferrari. The hotel we checked in to was dirt cheap, really big and next to a warehousing complex for truckers. The hotel interior was covered in pictures and paintings of various sports cars and most of the clients were middle-aged men who were dragging their wives from car factory to car factory to race course in this part of Italy. Despite the industrial-sounding nature of the area, there are some lovely villages, wineries and we found an amazing restaurant were the staff spoke German. Remarkably, however, Ferrari F355 Challenge holds up admirably, and even though it's no longer the revolutionary racing simulator that it was three years ago, it's still an enjoyable game. Originally simply called F355 Challenge, the game was first released in arcades in 1999 and then was subsequently ported to the Dreamcast one year later. It was notable because, aside from its great graphics and realistic physics, the game actually taught you the mechanics of racing through the use of tutorials, driving aids, and a breakdown of your car's performance data after every race. F355 Challenge was clearly meant for experienced players, though it was completely accommodating to novice gamers who sought to better their driving skills. That same essence lives on in Ferrari F355 Challenge for the PlayStation 2.

To sharpen up the V12 super-coupe’s responses further, a Handling GT Evoluzione (HGTE) package will be offered as an aftermarket addition or a factory-fit option.Details are scarce at this point but enhancements are likely to include more track-focused rubber, lighter alloys, stiffened suspension and lashings of carbon-fibre in the cabin. A new triple-layer metallic Rosso paint job will help mark it out from the standard model, although the monster 612bhp engine should remain untouched.Even more intriguing though is the 599XX – an experimental prototype stuffed with Ferrari’s latest F1 technology.
