Ah, running back. Fantasy football's most important position that requires about 75 percent of your effort on the waiver wire and at the end of your draft. Every week some back will suffer an injury and it could cost him a week all the way up to the season. Running back isn't what it used to be and the dreaded RBBC (running back by committee) tag has grown to pandemic levels. Yes, it's across the continents. From a strategy standpoint, the importance of drafting running back is based on how much competition you have in your league. If you know the vast majority of the owners spend most of their free time doing research and checking multiple fantasy sites like this one for tips on who to add/draft, then you know the "sleepers" at running back will be off the board before the eighth round. In continuing our most recent front page theme, the "Way Too Early To Talk About This, But We're Going To Anyway" theme, we get to take a look today at fantasy football rankings for quarterbacks heading into the 2012 season. The guys over at Fake Teams, the SB Nation fantasy sports blog, have ranked the NFL's top 36 passers for next year. The Miami Dolphins take two of those spots, but neither spot is all that impressive. The combination of Matt Moore and David Garrard show up on the list at 32, while rookie Ryan Tannehill holds the 35th spot. The interesting thing about the Moore/Garrard position is it's one spot below New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow, and one spot head of Jets starter Mark Sanchez. Yes, you read that correctly. Tebow is 31st, Moore/Garrard is 32nd, and Sanchez is 33rd. It's never too soon to start ranking players in fantasy football. We're going to kick it off today and the rankings should be updated on a monthly basis. Of course, they are subject to change. It's adapting. Not flip-flopping. The quarterbacks are probably the easiest to rank of any position since there really isn't much competition for their gigs. STORRS, Conn. -- Four former University of Connecticut captains will serve as "Honorary Coaches" for the 2012 UConn Blue vs. White Spring Football game on Saturday, April 21 at Rentschler Field. But the long wait is over as the Big East and UConn released their 2012 football schedule. The UConn Huskies football team's secondary took a hit on Thursday when it was announced that safety Jerome Junior had been suspended by the school. Here's the release from UConn: STORRS, Conn. (February 16, 2012) ? University of Connecticut safety Jerome Junior (Baltimore, Md.) has been suspended from the team for a violation of team rules. He is no longer enrolled at the University and will not be for the fall 2012 semester as well. Junior was to be a redshirt senior this fall. He had 60 tackles in 2011, which was fourth on the team. The University will have no further comment on this matter. According to Desmond Conner of the Hartford Courant, Junior was not suspended for anything criminal but rather something had been stirring over a while.
