MINIMUM WAGE CRISIS
2012-04-02 16:00:00 Looks like there won't be a mass uprising for a raise of the American minimum wage soon. Why? Because Americans are just too busy working to afford the most basic of necessities--housing! According to an infographic based on statistics from the National Low Income Housing Coalition workers have to toil for up to hundreds of hours to afford decent housing (a 2-bedroom unit at fair market rent) under minimum wage. Some of the frightening numbers include 136 hours in New York, 130 hours in California and a whopping 175 hours in Hawaii! Keeping in mind that there are only 168 hours in a week, these statistics are pretty out of this world!

Good News, Bad News: ARROW, THE FINDER & HAWAII FIVE-0
2012-03-03 04:34:00 Good News: Former SMALLVILLE star Justin Hartley has inked a deal to headline a CW Pilot. Bad News: Nope, the creative team behind the Network’s ARROW reboot haven’t come to their senses and handed Hartley the cowl and arrow he so richly deserves, but rather a role on a thinly veiled GREY’S ANATOMY rip-off entitled FIRST CUT. [Source] Good News: HAWAII FIVE-0 is making headlines. Bad News: For all the wrongs reasons, as Alex O’Loughlin’s representatives released a statement that the series star will be missing an episodes so that the actor may check into a “supervised treatment for prescription pain medication.” [Source] Good News: Fox has found a timeslot for THE FINDER which is scheduled to be bumped off the schedule in March to make room for the Kiefer Sutherland starrer TOUCH. Bad News: If history is any indication, audiences are going to have an awfully difficult time finding the BONES spin-off on Fridays at 8PM starting April 6th. [So...

Maui Hawaii Celebrate Gay Marriage this Week
2012-01-06 16:08:00 Paradise is a strong word, and I don't use it lightly. But Maui, Hawaii is truly a paradise in every way. It has glorious warm weather all year, with just enough of a breeze from the trade winds to keep you feeling refreshed. The tropical greenery and colourful flowers are spectacular, and there's nothing better than the relaxing sound of the surf crashing on the beach as you drift off to sleep every night. Wouldn't you want to get married in Paradise?! A gay Oklahoma City couple is happy to be on Maui and among the first couples to be joined in a civil union after a state law allowing such unions went into effect last Sunday. "We are proud to be part of it," said 40-year-old Rich Tucker, a mortgage company owner, shortly before his Monday sunset ceremony with partner 37-year-old David Dobson, a Realtor. "We wanted to have the ceremony somewhere tropical. It's awesome to have accepting people that accept everyone. No one is segregated," Tucker said about Hawaii and...

Bummer, I really liked that show.I'll put forth the best dialogue, so that no one will inadvertently see the spoilerish materialSteve and Danno were tracking down a suspect to interrogate and found him at an Army surplus store/warehouse. As they were walking through the place, the following conversation ensured:Danno: Hope you like it, this is what it's going to look like when you die. This is your heaven. You want anything while we're here? New ammo belt? Night vision goggles? Whoa, whoa...powdered eggs!Steve: Let me tell you something. I'd take powdered eggs...

2011-05-04 17:15:00 actor Christopher ShyerFirst, a quick word about "The Good Wife." Last night's episode had Christopher Shyer, who plays Marcus on "V" as a doctor who discriminates against patients who lead a "wild" lifestyle in their youth and moves a girl off the transplant list. That's a big legal no-no, and his hospital got sued by Lockhart-Gardner. A great show, and normally stoic Alecia Florrick finally had an emotional moment and broke down. Also a nice shot of CBS 2's Rob Johnson playing what else, a CBS Chicago news anchor. Maybe NBA MVP Derrick Rose will get some screen time on the show, as he was mentioned in a episode this season. (See how I worked the sports angle in?)Five-O...

Paradise Lost - A Hawaii Five-O blog
2011-01-11 15:35:00 Alas, CBS pulled a great fake out over the weekend. Their promos for Five-O neglected to mention there wasn't a new episode of the Steve and Danno show last night. So after the BCS game, I turned my attention to the winter finale of one of the shows I can really relate to - "Men of A Certain Age." The show really cut close to home as Terry (Scott Bakula) decided to get a colonoscopy, and convinces his buddies to get one as well. They all venture to Palm Springs where they make a golf weekend out of the occasion. For anyone who has ever undergone the procedure, including myself, knows that you can't eat for 24 hours before, and...
