Archeological Heritage
2009-10-09 04:03:00 An important battlefield for centuries, Dipalpur is now a quite and peaceful town. It is situated at the distance of 25 Kilometres from Okara on an old bank of River Beas in Bari Doab. Dipalpur is famous in the history as an outpost that has played a significant part in the defence of Delhi kingdom against Mongol invasions in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. History of Dipalpur dates back to ancient times. The coins of Sakas (Scythian) period found on the site suggest that the place was inhabited in 100 (BC). After Multan this is probably the oldest living city in the Subcontinent. General Alexander Cunningham writes that the place figures out in works of Ptolemy under different names. As per the tradition, Dipalpur was named after Raja Dipa Chand once he captured it. Dipalpur once used to be the first fortification in the way from Khyber to Delhi. In 1285, Muhammad Tughlaq son of Emperor Balban was killed in a bloody battle with Mongols and the famous poet Amir Khusuro was...

Strong results for Barons British Heritage and Classic Cars sale
2009-09-23 18:48:00 Sandown Park was a busy place on September 8th, as buyers made their way to Barons? British Heritage and Classic Cars sale. And, when the hammer fell on the final lot, over 80% of the cars on offer had found new homes, with spirited bidding pushing a number of lots well over estimate. Highlights included the LHD 1959 MG TF1500, which sold for a whisker under £23,000, while a lively battle ensued between bidders in the hall and no less than seven on the phone for the 1961 MGA 1600 FHC (£9,266). And a magnificent 1961 MkII Jaguar achieved £31,231, demonstrating yet again that beautifully-presented cars have a ready market. The sale also saw one of the oldest cars that Barons? has ever sold go under the hammer ? a sprightly 1918 Buick E-Six-49 which sold for £13,161.50. The sale was a very positive introduction to Barons for the company?s new Director of Business Development, Julian Shoolheifer, former head of Sotheby?s and Cheffins? motor car departments. Barons? Managing Directo...

A Pest and an Exterminator, Sharing an Outdoor Hockey Heritage
2009-09-17 20:15:00 Two Minnesotans, Joe Finley and Trevor Bruess, are camping with the Capitals this week, and they skated on a line together in Wednesday's Duchesne Cup concluding scrimmage. Minneapolis native Bruess was signed by the Caps last spring after completing his junior season at Minnesota State; he's a modest 6 '0, 209, but he plays bigger than his size, and can he skate! It'd be downright scary to imagine Edina native Joe Finley playing bigger than his 6 '7, 245 frame. As I watched them antagonize the opposition on just about every shift in their scrimmages this week I thought of Bruess as the Pest and Finley as the Exterminator. They're about the same age, and I don't think it's inconceivable to imagine them as part of a Capitals' antagonism outfit in a couple of years. As Minnesota-raised hockey players, Bruess and Finley share a profound appreciation for playing hockey outdoors, on the State of Hockey's abundant frozen playgrounds for puck. "That's where it all st...

Signs in Suleman Range
2009-09-01 05:31:00 Perched in between legendary Suleman Range on one side and mighty River Indus on the other, ruins of original Harand Fort are situated in the area commonly known as Pachaddh. The Fort has seen a lot in the past and looks as if hiding thousands of secrets besides its historical and archaeological importance. The Fort was originally built opposite historic Chachar Pass in Suleman Range to guard against the invaders. The fading signs of the edifice are still there in the forms of derbies and bricks scattered around the old site. Sikh Governor Sawan Mall used the material of the old fort rebuilt the Fort on a new location in 1831. Present structure of the Fort - a valuable part of our heritage - is situated about 25 kilometres west of sleepy and rustic town Dajal in district Rajan Pur. The Fort is spread over an area of 50 acres. The outer wall of whatever is left of it is one kilometre long and was made of thin red bricks. There are 16 pillars. Main entrance is in the west and another o...

SHO Performance Heritage
2009-02-11 16:19:00 SUPER HIGH-OUTPUT HERITAGE: NEW TAURUS SHO REVIVES PERFORMANCE MODEL FROM 1989-1999 CHICAGO, Feb. 11, 2009 Taurus SHO is back for 2010 in a contemporary yet authentic interpretation of its Super High Output sleeper heritage. Both known and loved for its high performance and unassuming exterior, Ford Taurus SHO was launched in limited production with only a five-speed manual transmission only for the 1989 model year. Introductory advertising positioned Taurus SHO as putting power in the hands of a fortunate few. Demand for the genre-defining Taurus SHO was underestimated, as 15,519 units found homes with eager, enthusiastic owners in the initial model year. The closest performance comparison at the time was the BMW 528i, costing tens of thousands more than the SHO. Beyond significant performance capabilities, Taurus SHO included features normally found on much more expensive cars such as ABS, Keyless Entry, a JBL audio system and sporty-yet-luxurious in...
I Wouldn’t Consider Myself a Fan of the Heritage Foundation
2009-01-19 22:36:00 A few years ago, I signed up for email notifications from The Heritage Foundation because 1) I wasn’t thinking properly, 2) they were giving away free copies of The Declaration of Independence and pocket-size copies of The Constitution of the United States and 3) you never know when you’ll have to bust out the law of land when someone at a dinner party lets loose a faulty amendment reference and you have to make him suck it in front of everyone. Even the mayor. Not that that’s happened to me or anything. Anyway, I could do without all the Reagan humping and Clarence Thomas lectures, but sometimes even a group like The Heritage Foundation gets it right. Like inviting Brigitte Gabriel to speak. I may not agree with everything she says, but I always learn something. Check it.

Living Heritage
2008-11-27 06:07:00 One evening a few months ago, Ghulam Ali Bloch, a retired bureaucrat turned progressive farmer, who has his roots in remote village Jalla Balla in the suburbs of Sargodha, was finishing up a contract negotiation for buying a piece of land for opening an Ostrich Farm when he realised that a crucial piece of information required to close the deal is missing. He needed to know who had the right to haqq-e shufah (pre-emption). He could only obtain the facts from the central registry of the revenue department. In order to verify the legal status of a property, including business homes and personal estates, one has to go to the patwari, garedawar, tehsildar and it entails a lengthy and laborious procedure. Historically, getting the required information takes a very long time. But thanks to an old man Mir Thana Khan, a minstrel in the village Jalla Balla, the information was available in his private but very authentic record. As per his own account the ancestors of Mir Thana came to the vill...

AMERICA'S CHRISTIAN HERITAGE CLEARLY SEEN IN FRANK WILDHORN'S "THE
2008-11-16 20:52:00 AMERICA'S CHRISTIAN HERITAGE CLEARLY SEEN IN FRANK WILDHORN'S THE CIVIL WAR DRAMABy Forrest Wayne Schultz On Friday night I saw a performance of The Civil War oratorio, whose composition was based on a careful study of historical documents, so that what is presented to the audience is authentic, by allowing the persons involved to speak for themselves. Among the many striking features of this performance was how how much of the conversations, songs, speeches, letters, and writings was infused with christian ideas and attitudes. And this, by the way, is not a "christian" play! It is because it is so historically authentic that you hear and see all of these christian ideas and principles in the songs and actions on the stage. (This is not to say that every single idea in it is christian -- there is one scene where the soldiers are getting drunk and praising their whiskey!) The ending of it, though, is difficult to assess. The final scene is Heaven where thr...

"Melaka and George Town, historic cities of the Straits of Malacca (Malaysia) have developed over 500 years of trading and cultural exchanges between East and West in the Straits of Malacca. The influences of Asia and Europe have endowed the towns with a specific multicultural heritage that is both tangible and intangible. American Heritage Data
2008-06-10 13:50:00 To have a successful business you need to have strong marketing strategies. One of the strategies that you could apply is by actively calling your targeted customers. Thus a good business almost always has a telemarketing department which needs to be proactive in order to get more customers. But a telemarketing department will be of no use without a list of customers to call. It needs to have an accurate marketing list. If you want to get the list of customers by yourself it would be a real waste of money and time. You should just find a good list company on the internet.American Heritage Data is on of the most respected list companies throughout the years. What is so special about this company that makes it highly regarded? It is because they are really consistent with their five points of excellence which include integrity, quality, reliability, service and advice. A heritage holiday in Bratislava
2008-06-06 00:00:00 Swot up on Slovakian history with a tour of Bratislava's most renowned Jewish heritage sights. The city was once one of the most prominent centres of traditional Jewish learning in Europe, with rabbi and scholar Chatam Sofer leading the field in the late 18th/early 19th centuries. His tomb, part of a former Jewish cemetery dating back from 1670 to 1847, has since become a monument to Jewish learning and a popular place of pilgrimage at the foothills of the Small Carpathian Mountains between the Danube and Bratislava Castle.Meanwhile, the city's Museum of Jewish Culture charts a more tragic period of Jewish history with moving exhibits about the community that was decimated during World War II.A cross commemorates them under the Staromestska highway to the pedestrian old town and there is also a small Holocaust Memorial near where the old synagogue once stood.Bratislava's Municipal Museum provides a more general overview of the capital's history.
