It was only a matter of time till it relaunched sms updates for twitter back in India. News has it that the same has been done now via an exclusive tie up between Airtel and Twitter. Airtel subscribers can now start tweeting and recieving updates via twitter on sms by simple signing up to short code 53000 at a cost of Re 1. The service is being called TweetSms. Tigers? Jackson dominates Indians again (AP)
2009-09-23 01:15:00 Edwin Jackson wouldn't allow the AL Central to get any tighter. Now is definitely not the time. Detroit's steady starter pitched seven shutout innings and remained unbeaten against Cleveland this season, and the first-place Tigers kept their slender lead over Minnesota with a 3-1 win over the staggering Indians, who dropped their ninth straight on ...

Odds & Ends: Astros, Indians, Werth
2009-09-22 15:06:00 More links for Tuesday... Today's chat starts in an hour.  Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports says the Astros aren't likely to hire Jeff Bagwell as the club's next manager. Former MLB managers Jim Fregosi, Buck Showalter and Manny Acta could all be considered for the job. As MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince reports, the Indians continue to discuss manager Eric Wedge's performance. An announcement about the skipper's future with the Indians should come soon after the end of the season, if not earlier. If the Indians decide to fire Wedge, Boston pitching coach John Farrell would be the favorite to replace him, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Jayson Werth explains to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick how Philadelphia fans bring out the best in him. Werth's having a career year, with 34 homers and a .900 OPS.

80% Urban Indians Plan Holidays Via Travel Portals – Are The Best Day
2009-08-31 07:28:00 When was the last time you booked a ticket using one of the online travel portals like MakeMyTrip or Yatra? Even if you think that was long time back, chances are high that you used them at least to check on the prices or ticket availability. That’s because an overwhelming majority of urban Indians do it that way. A new study by Nielsen shows that nearly 80 percent of Indians plan their holidays using online travel portals. “Indians” is a broad generalization here, because the study covered 842 metro, Internet-savvy Indians who had traveled by air in the past one year. I s**k at statistics, yet I think it is fair to say that this is a very small sample that just accounts for a small minority of the entire sample set. Nevertheless, assuming that we are only talking about metropolitan Internet-savvy people, the study still throws numbers of high significance. Here are some more numbers from the study – 77% of those surveyed had used the travel portals for airl...

Prominent Indians Berate India?s Rife Political Corruption
2009-07-06 00:56:00 Many are the intellectually extremely dishonest ploys used by those who fanatically oppose the exposure of Sathya Sai Baba and core leaders of his sect. One of these ruses intended to blacken those who have stood for truth for a great many years of their lives is that former devotees who speak out are "India bashers". To point out how he and his key servitors have only deepened the corruption that is rife in India greatly displeases them. They do not stop to consider that there are forces - many of them tremendously courageous - who criticise India from within. The fact that Sathya Sai Baba's apologists will not face is that Sai Baba has many times said that he and his Sathya Sai Organization are going to save the world, mostly within his own lifetime. He has failed.

2009-06-21 18:38:00 Happy Father's Day Happy Father's Day to my Dad, Pete DiCaro, who coached just about every team the kids in my family were ever on (t-ball, baseball, soccer, and otherwise), and endured years upon years of little boys who ran from 1st to 3rd (skipping 2B entirely), little girls who rested the bat on their shoulders at the plate(getting the barrel snagged in the bows that adorned their ponytails) and dandelion pickers of every gender in the OF (and often the IF, too), with a smile on his face. I know that he gets some small measure of satisfaction knowing that his weekends are now completely free, while mine are consumed with driving to various kid sports. For all...
Chicago Cubs Headlines For Saturday/ Indians @ Cubs 12:05 CT WGN
2009-06-20 14:53:00 Photo courtesy Chicago Tribune Jimminy Jillickers, kids, I would just looooove to recap the game for you guys. Alas, as I said during the 6th inning, those of you who stomp off in disgust before the end of the game risk missing the big comeback and I threatened not to recap it for those of you without the fortitude to stick around. And . . . well . . . ahem. I will say that this game reminded me very much of the 9-run comeback the 1989 Cubs had against Houston that year. That game was seemed to be the turning point that year, the game when that team realized that anything was possible. Let's hope that this game...

Today is the day I've been dreading since. . . well, since I found out last week that the Cubs were playing the Indians this series. It's never easy to let a loved one go, especially when that loved one was the hottest guy on the team and has this really kick-ass chest and wore lots of tight t-shirts that totally showed it off. It's also hard when, in return for letting the loved one go, you wind up with a no-hitting, disgruntled OFer who can't count to 3 and Aaron Miles at 2B. As...

2009-04-02 20:43:00 We're almost there. After today's final penance game agaisnt McDreamy and Kerry, the team heads to NYC to help break in the new Yankee Stadium. Then an off-day on Sunday. Then. . . (gulp) . . . real, honest-to-goodness, LIVE baseball THAT COUNTS. I know, I can hardly believe it, either. Ryan Dempster will head to mound today in his last bid to not get injured before the regular season starts. In fact, we'll probably only see most of the regulars for a few innings before they give way to the scrubs. Still to be determined this season? Two bullpen spots and what we're doing in CF (though I unfortunately think the platoon is going to win out in that situation). That's it. Other than that, bring on the Astros, we're ready to play. If you signed up for mlb audio, you can listen to the Indians feed today. Otherwise, you'll have to content yourself with the live box score and our stimulating commentary. Hang in there, only four more days to go.

How many Indians Equal one Chief?
2009-03-23 13:24:00 Bad economies make for tough living: at work, at home, and at play. Unemployment in the U.S. has reached levels not seen in 25-plus years. Chances are, you've already seen cutbacks and layoffs at work, or at least, the whispers are getting a lot louder. The question for the day is: Why do layoffs al
Not all Indians worship Sathya Sai Baba
2009-03-10 23:38:00 Many Sathya Sai Baba followers frequently and falsely state that he is far more accepted in India and elsewhere than he in fact is. Many Indians from across a wide social spectrum do not have the least respect for him. Still others acknowledge the good social work that his devotees perform, but disdain the emphasis on the miraculous aspect, and also the sway he has over politicians and government officials, no matter what the complexion of the ruling government.

Red Sox Ace Jon Lester KO's Tribe...Boston Red Sox 6 Cleveland Indians 1
2008-09-26 11:38:00 Jon Lester led the Boston Red Sox to a 6-1 Thursday night Fenway Park victory, ending the season series with the Indians. And he did it in style, not allowing a hit until the sixth inning. Lester was on a Tito Francona-imposed pitch count of 85, and even if the no hitter was intact through six, he would have come out of the game. Think of all the boos that would have echoed throughout the park! Lester becomes the first Red Sox lefty to win at least 16 games since Bruce Hurst accomplished the feat in 1988. He also became the first Sox lefty to top 200 ininngs pitched since Frankie Viola in 1992. With that in mind, he said this..."For me, I associate that (200 plus innings) with guys like a Beckett, Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens, guys that are pretty much the horses of the team," Lester said. "They're going to go out there and pound the strike zone and give you good efforts every night. That's an honor to me, to get to that number. Early on, I struggled a little bit in April. Beginni...

The Insanity of Unilateral Anti-Racism
2008-08-30 10:14:00 The latest death toll figures from Hurricane Katrina can be seen on this website here. The famous Russian neo-Nazi video is on this blog here.Updated September 2:In the comments section, Lafayette Sennacherib, a very smart British White guy with no interest in White nationalism, notes, regarding WN, that the WN's do have a point: A White Nationalist argument that has some merit is that tribal loyalties are unfortunate but inevitable, and in the face of the organised tribal interest of at least one demographic, whites should not have their hands tied behind their backs. Could you deny that there is some merit in that? I respond: As much as I dislike the WN's for their overt racism and dislike for nearly all non-Whites, they are the only folks here in the US that have the balls to discuss certain truths that no one else with touch with a 10 foot pole and an 11 foot extension.I discussed this very issue with Kevin McDonald himself a while back, and he agreed with me when I said that ...
